GJM dismissed the Highway Block Committee

 MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, May 31 MEMBERS OF HIGHWAY BLOCK The GJM party has today dismissed the Highway Block Committee demands for a separate constituency after the news of division among the Committee itself. Commenting on the issue GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said that the attitude of the Committee has forced the GJM to take the steps. The Committee which has been demanding an aloof constituency from Sevoke to Rangpo was distressed by Wednesday when the Melli to Rangpo branch slammed their demands and followed the party high command orders. The Rambi branch also today decided to join the Labda-Mangpoo constituency leaving Teesta alone.

Rambi School, the story of ‘Fish without Water’

 MUKESH SHARMA Rambi, May 31: Rambi, a small village along the stretch of National Highway 31A has the population of two thousand peoples. The village in the name of education has only a high school to cater education for the populace of the place which was established on 1972. The school receiving the junior school recognisation after 10 years of its inception had dig up the secondary tag last year. The school which is said to be constructed by the NHPC still lacks the toilet facilities, fans facilities in classroom and the stories of the desk-benches are a serious subject of concern. The world when joins hand with the 21st century, the students of the school are not lucky enough to glimpse a computer.

 The school has pigs shed on its surrounding whose savor distracts the students as well as the teachers. The question here arises that why the children of the poor backgrounds have to face such facilities? Did the students have committed any sins, and being born in a BPL family is a curse? The school having the strength of 250 students is run by only 5 teachers. The school does not have maths as a subject. The teachers are working voluntarily, some adhoc etc. Sanctions of 6 lacs have been learnt in 2010 for the up gradation of the classes, where 4, 1100 had been was secured by the SMC in its first installment for the construction of the school hall. The hall remains incomplete today as they SMC have not been able to get the rest for the completion. The school that has got the secondary recognisation had to do a lot more but who cares. The school has neither fencing nor proper drinking water facilities and it must be the above reason that the results of the school remain humiliating year by year. 

The principal when asked about the circumstance of the school, he thought of remaining silent whereas the GJM party workers and the locals are worried about the deteriorating condition of the school. The Rambi Yuwa Morcha president Jiten Chettri, Branch president MB Singha, Arjun Tamang deeply touched by the condition of the school has started their steps for the amplification the school which in fact is the only ray of hope for every household at Rambi. On the other hand when asked to the SMC president also the secondary school AI Dr Anjana Thapa about the worsening condition of the school, she said that they have been concerned about the condition of the school. The school on the other hand till date has not printed any complaints pertaining to the clause of the school, if so the justice could have been dispensed. The school not having the basic amenities like teachers, toilets, officials, hall, computer, drinking water, desk-benches seems like a fish without water. There is a dire need of the voices from the teachers’ representatives, MLA, party, department and the intellects for the overall development of the school.

Labour Union President thanks GJM for the Union’s growth

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, May 31: GOPAL RUCHAL Satisfied with the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Chief’s leadership, the President of Darjeeling, Terai- Dooars Labour Union, Gopal Ruchal today while speaking with the media said that under GJM the Union has been able to grow and the credit totally goes to Bimal Gurung. Till date the Union’s struggle and agitation has become successful. Acquainting about the increment of labour charge in the Cinchona plantation, Ruchal said that since 1988 until now the labourers were given Rs 21. 62 paise labour charge. Regarding this an order was passed a year ago for Labour fixation but the labourers were not benefitted until yet. But soon after the Trinamool Congress came into power they had notified that it will soon be started according to which the scheme has been initiated since October 1, 2011 and the order letter for the same has been received yesterday, he informed. Under this the labour charge will be increased to Rs 171 including DA, he added. Tagging this as a historic feat, the President said that the Cinchona work will improve the lives of approximately 5000 labourers. If the Government keeps a close check then the Cinchona could be used in manufacturing of different types of medicines plus much profit is there in this business. Hence, an establishment of a Cinchona Sale Division here is a must, asserted Ruchal. If the Government grants 50 crores for Cinchona then we are ready to give 50 crores back to the Government after the Cinchona plantation, he claimed. Lastly, he mentioned that various Unions were established in the past 25 years but none of them fought for the increment of the labour charge. “We thank all those who supported and helped us throughout”, he concluded.

स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी सहिद दुर्गा मल्लको सालिग आफ्नै जन्मथलोमा स्थापित हुन सकेन

 डी के वाइबा:कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ 31 मई: गोर्खे राष्ट्रिय स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी सहिद दुर्गा मल्लले अङग्रेजहरुको शासन बिरुद्ध लडदा लडदै पक्रा परेर फाँसिको फन्दाम चडे अनि तिनलाई देशले नै शहिद स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी भनेर घोषणा गरेको छ। 1 जुलाई 1913 मा देहरादुनको डोइवाला गाउँमा जन्मेका शहिद दुर्गा मल्लले देशलाई दिएको बलिदानको कदर गर्दै तिनको सालिग भारतको संसद भवन अघि स्थापना समेत गरिएको छ। देशले स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी भनेर मानेको सहिद दुर्गा मल्ल आफ्नै जन्म ठाउँ देहरादुनमा भने अपमानित हुनपुगेका छन। देहरादुनमा तिनकै नाममा रहेको शहिद दुर्गा मल्ल पार्कमा अहिले घरी त्यस क्षेत्रका गोर्खाहरुले तिनले सालिग स्थापना गर्न चाहँदा उक्त क्षेत्रमा रहेको सेनाका क्यान्टोमेन्ट अध्यक्ष (सी ई ओ) ले प्रतिमा स्थापना गर्न नदिए पछि स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी सहिद दुर्गा मल्ल अपमानित बन्न पुगेका छन। यसै सम्बन्धमा सहिद दुर्गा मल्ल पार्कमा तिनको सालिग स्थापना गर्न पाउँनुपर्छ भनेर उत्तरखण्ड राज्य नेपाली भाषा समितिले सीईओ बिरुद्ध धर्ना प्रदर्शन सुरु गरेको छ। उत्तरखण्ड राज्य नेपाली भाषा समितिको आयोजनामा सुरु भएको धर्ना कार्यक्रम आज पनि जारी रह्यो। यस अवसरमा उक्त प्रदर्शनमा मानिसहरुको ब्यापक सहभागिता रहेको समितिका अध्यक्ष बब्बर गुरुङले जानकारी दिएका छन। 

स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी सहिद दुर्गा मल्लको सालिग स्थापना गर्न पाउँनुपर्छ भनि माग गर्दै सुरु भएको धर्ना प्रदर्शनमा बिभिन्न संघ संस्थका मानिसहरु सम्गै नगरनिगम पार्षद लगायत राजनैतिक नेताह्रुको उपस्थिति रहेको तिनले थप बताए। समितिका अध्यक्ष बब्बर गुरुङले सहिद दुर्गा मल्लको सालिग स्थापना गर्न नदिएर तिनले देशलाई दिएको योगदानको अवहेलना गरेको आरोप लगाउँदै जब सम्म सीईओले अनुमति प्रदान गदैन तबसम्म उक्त प्रदर्शन जारी राख्ने जानकारी दिएका छन। उत्तरखण्ड राज्य नेपाली भाषा समितिको आयोजनामा सुरु भएको धर्ना कार्यक्रमा हाल उक्त क्षेत्रका बिभिन्न राजनैतिक तथा गैर राजनैतिक दलहरुको सहभागिता बडिरहेको जानकारी गराउँदै यस बिषयमा सरकारले यथाशिघ्र समस्या समाधानको मार्ग अप्नाउँनुपर्ने माग गरे। बिगत दिनम हाल सहिद दुर्ग मल्ल नामले चिने उक्त पार्कको नाम क्यान्टोमेन्ट पार्क रहेको बताउँदै आफुहरुकै आन्दोलनले उक्त पार्कको नाम पछिबाट सहिद दुर्गा मल्ल पार्क भनि नामकरण गरिएको जानकारी गराउँदै अब उक्त पार्कमा तिनको स्मृतिमा तिनको सालिग स्थापना गर्न चाहँदा सीईओले बाधा दिने कार्य गरेको बताए। यसै क्रममा सहिद दुर्गमल्ल पार्कमा तिनको सालिग निर्माणको निम्ति बिगत दिनमा राज्यका पूर्व मुख्य मन्त्री बी सी खण्डुरीको सरकारले अनुमोदन समेत गरेको बताउँदै तिनकै सरकारले सहिद दुर्गा मल्लले देशलाई दिएको योगदानको कदर गर्दै सालिग निर्माणको निम्ति एक लाख नब्बे हजार रुपिया समेत अनुमोदन गरेको जानकारी गराए। अहिले सहिद दुर्गा मल्लको सालिग बनिसकेको जानकारी गराउँदै सालिग स्थापना गर्ने समयमा भने सेनाका सीईओले अनुमति नदिएर स्वतन्त्र सेनानीप्रति अपमान गर्ने काम गरेको तिनले आरोप लगाए।

 सम्पूर्ण देशले चिनेका स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी सहिद दुर्गा मल्लले देशलाई दिएको योगदानको कदर गर्दै भारतको संसद भवन अघि तिनको सालिग निर्माण हुन सकेको बताउँदै आज तिनको आफ्नो जन्म थलोमा सालिग स्थापना गर्ने अनुमति नदिनु नितान्त दुर्भाग्य जनक रहेको बताउँदै यसको बिरोधमा हाल उत्तर खण्डका सबै संघ संस्था लगायत राजनैतिक दलहरु समेत एक भईरहेको तिनले जानकारी गराए। यसै सिलसिलामा तिनले जबसम्म सालिग निर्माणको अनुमति प्राप्त हुँदैन तबसम्म धर्ना प्रदर्शन जारी रहने बताउँदै यदि धर्ना गर्दा समेत अनुमति पाउँन नसके आन्दोलनलाई बृहत रुपमा अघि बडाएर लैजाने तिनले चेतावनी दिए। यस कुरालाई सरकारले समेत खुबै गम्भिरतापुर्वक लिएर समस्या समाधानको निम्ति यथाशिघ्र पहल गर्नुपर्ने मगा गर्दै सर्कारले समयमा समस्या समाधान नगरे स्थिति बिग्रन सक्ने तिनले चेतावनी दिएका छन। देशलाई अङग्रेजहरुले आफ्नो कब्जामा राखेको समयमा अङग्रेज शासनको बिरुद्धमा लडेर आफ्नो ज्यान समेत दिने बीर गोर्खा सहिदको सालिग स्थापना गर्न नदिनु सहिदको मात्र अपमान नभएर देश भरीका गोर्खाहरुकै अपमान हो भन्दै यस समबन्धमा भारत भरीका गोर्खाहरु एक बनेर आन्दोलन गर्न आवश्यक रहेको बब्बर गुरुङले बताए। सहिद दुर्गा मल्लले आफ्नो पत्निलाई विवाह गरेको तीन दिनमा छोडेर देशको निम्ति लडन गएको बताउँदै तिनले फाँसीमा चड्न अघि “म मरे देशले तिमीलाई हेर्नेछ” भनि आफ्नो पत्नि सारदा मल्ललाई बताएको तिनले जानकारी गराउँदै आज खोई त देशले तिनको सालिग स्थापना समेत गर्न नदिदा बोलेको ? भनि प्रश्न तेर्साए।

चुनावी चाड़, मोर्चा,मौजा र हाई पावर

 rongotimes.com प्राविधिक र कानूनीरूपका समस्याहरूभन्दा धेर गोजमुमोको निम्ति जीटीएको सन्दर्भमा सीमानाको सवाल प्रमुख रहेको छ। 396 को सम्बन्धमा आजको दिनसम्म त मोर्चा आफ्नो वचनबाटपछि सरेको छैन तर मोर्चासित कुनै पनि उपाय छैन। मोर्चासित दुइवटा मात्र विकल्प छ। यदि हाई पावरले तराई र डुवर्सको 50 प्रतिशत मौजामा मात्र आफ्नो निर्णय दिए कि त तराई र डुवर्स बिना नै मोर्चाले चुनाउ लड्‌नुपर्छ कि त जीटीए त्यागेर छुट्टै राज्यको आन्दोलन गर्नुपर्छ। मोर्चा छुट्टै राज्यको आन्दोलन गर्नसक्ने स्थितिमा छैन। मोर्चाले भइसकेको जीटीए थन्काएर छुट्टै राज्यको आन्दोलनमा आउन सक्छ भन्नु ठूलै मुर्खता हुनेछ। यसकारण मोर्चाले तराई डुवर्स बिना नै चुनाउ लड्‌न सक्ने सम्भावना बढी छ। केही महीना अघि मङ्‌पूको रवीन्द्र भवनमा मोर्चाले तराई डुवर्सका प्रतिनिधिहरूलाई बोलाएका थिए।

 मोर्चा प्रवक्ता डा. हर्कबहादुर छेत्रीले यसै बैठकमा नै जीटीए थन्काउने कि आन्दोलन गर्ने विषयमा तय गरिने भएको बताएका थिए। तर 24 मार्चको कलकत्ता बैठकपछि तराई डुवर्सको सीमाङ्कन हुँदै गर्छ अनि जीटीएको चुनाउ पनि हुँदै गर्छ भनेर मोर्चा नेतृत्वहरू फर्किए। जीटीए सम्झौतामा उल्लेख भए अनुसार सिमाङ्कन र चुनावी प्रक्रिया संगसंगै चल्नेछ। 24 मार्चको कलकत्ता बैठकमा केवल जूनको पहिलो साता हाई पावर कमिटीको रिपोर्ट आउने र जुलाई महीनामा चुनाउ हुने कुरो मात्र तय भयो। मोर्चाले अघिदेखि नै भन्दै आएको 2011 को जनगणना विषय कुनै ठोस निर्णय अधि आएन, या यस सम्बन्धमा चर्चा नै भएन। यदि मोर्चालाई तराई र डुवर्सको यति माया हुँदो हो त मोर्चाले जीटीएमा उल्लेख गरिएको चुनाउ र सिमाङ्कन संगसंगै चल्ने भनिएको दोधारे बूँदा पढेर हस्ताक्षर गर्ने थिएन। जीटीएको चुनाउ भइसकेपछि र जीटीए गठन भइसकेपछि तराई र डुवर्सको भूभाग जीटीएमा पस्छ भन्नु र हस्ताक्षर गरेको जीटीएको सम्झौतामा लेखिएको कुरा विपरित गएर तराई र डुवर्सबिना चुनाउ पटक्क मान्दैनौं भन्नु एउटै देखिएको छ। विश्लेषकहरू अनुसार हाई पावरको काम सरकार नियन्त्रित छ। मोर्चाले पनि सन्देह गरेको छ कि हाई पावर कमिटीको रिपोर्ट मोर्चाले दावी गरेको सिमाङ्कनको पक्षमा हुने छैन। यसो भयो भने तराई र डुवर्सले धोका पाउने छ। तर सम्झौतामा दावी नगरिएको कुरा राष्ट्रपतिले अनुमोदन गरिसकेपछि दावी गरिनु नै मोर्चाले देखाउने रणनीति मात्र रहेको विपक्षको आलोचना छ। मोर्चालाई अर्को सन्देह के पनि छ भने सम्झौतामा उल्लेख गरिए जति अधिकार व्यवहारिकरूपमा हुने हो होइन। यसै कारण डा. हर्कबहादुर छेत्रीले जीटीए लागू भइसकेपछि अनि अधिकारहरू सञ्चालनमा आइसकेपछि मात्र मोर्चाको रणनीति सफल भयो कि विफल भन्ने कुराको छिनाफाना हुने बताइसकेका छन्‌। मोर्चाले मुख्यमन्त्री ममता व्यानर्जीसित ठूलो आशा राखेको थियो। डा. हर्कबहादुर छेत्री अनुसार हो भने मुख्यमन्त्री पहाडमा अशान्ति चाहँदिनन्‌। यसकारण मोर्चाले दावी गरेको396 मौजामा तिनको सहमति हुनसक्छ। तर हाई पावर कमिटीको रिपोर्ट मोर्चाले दावी गरेको सिमाङ्कनको पक्षमा नआए पनि मोर्चाले सम्झौता अनुसार नै चुनाउ गर्नुपर्छ। 

सम्झौतामा के लेखिएको छ, अनि महासचिवले किन हस्ताक्षर गरेका हुन्‌ भन्ने कुरा मोर्चालाई थाहा छ। जब जब मोर्चाले जीटीएमा 396 मौजा पस्नुपर्ने सवाल उठाउँछ तब अखिल भारतीय आदिवासी विकास परिषद्का दल निष्कासित नेता जोन बारलाको संकट अघि आउने गरेको छ। किनभने जोन बारलासित सम्पूर्ण तराई र डुवर्स जीटीएमा पस्ने सम्झौतामा विमल गुरूङले मित्रता गॉंसेका छन्‌। तराई र डुवर्स जीटीएमा पसेन भने सबैभन्दा पहिले तराई र डुवर्समा जोन बारलाको अस्तित्व संकटमा पर्छ अनि डुवर्सवासी। त्यसपछि विपक्षको कड़ा आलोचना शुरू हुनेछ। किनभने जीटीएमाथि विपक्षले कडा विरोध गरेको छैन भने यही सीमानाको सवालको कारण गरेको छैन। छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति मोर्चाले सिमाना भन्छ भने ठीकै हो भन्ने मतमा बसेका विपक्ष पनि मौजा नगाभिए विरोधमा उत्रने निश्चित छ। तर मोर्चालाई आजको स्थिति आउने कुरा अघिबाट थाहा थिएन भन्नु पनि मुर्खता हुनेछ। मोर्चाले सम्पूर्ण हिसाब किताब गरेर नै जीटीएमा हस्ताक्षर गरेको हो। जीटीएमा हस्ताक्षर गरेपछि मोर्चाले आफ्ना नेताहरूलाई लागेको सबै मुद्दा खारेज हुनुपर्छ भन्ने माग गरेको थियो । तर मोर्चाको यो माग अझै राज्य सरकारले पारित गरिदिएको छैन। मुद्दा खारेज भएमा लागिएको आरोपबाट मुक्त हुने सपना मोर्चाका नेताहरूसित छ। तर मदन तामाङको मामिलालाई राज्य सरकारले गतिलो गोटीकोरूपमा राखेको विपक्षका जम्मै नेताहरूले बताइरहेका छन्‌। छत्र सुब्बा समेतले यही कुरा गरेका छन्‌। मोर्चा आफैले राज्य सरकार, केन्द्र सरकार र हाई पावर कमिटीसित सन्देह गरिरहेको छ। यसकारण हाई पावरको रिपोर्ट मोर्चाको जीवन मरणको रिपोर्ट हुनेछ। गोरामुमो जस्तो विभिन्न लाञ्छना पाउनबाट मुक्त बन्दै दलीय अस्तित्व पनि बचाउँदै जीटीए सञ्चालनको प्रारूप तयार पार्न मोर्चाको निम्ति त्यति सजिलो भने छैन।

आधा पेटै सुत्छन्‌ जनता–कुहेको सरकारी चामलको भात खानु कि भाती?ः माकपा

 rongotimes.comकालेबुङ,30 मई (निसं)ः 31 मार्चपछि चार महीनासम्म पहाड़का जनतालाई दोब्बर राशिन दिने मुख्यमन्त्री ममता व्यानर्जीको घोषणा पनि पूरा भएन। अहिले जति राशिन पाउँदैछन्‌ त्यो पनि गुणस्तरीय छैन। चामल दिन्छ खानै नहुने, कनिका हो कि चामल नै हो छुट्याउनै गाह्रो पर्छ। टुक्रे चामल अब जनताले भात खानु कि भाती जॉंड़ बनाएर खानु?

यस्तो मन्तव्य व्यक्त गरेका हुन्‌ स्थानीय माकपा नेता तारा सुन्दासले। उनी आज त्यही कुहेर टुक्रा परेको सरकारी राशिन दोकानले बॉंड़ेको चामल बोकेर खाद्य विभाग पुगेका थिए। खाद्य विभाग अधिकारी ध्रुव बराइलीसित भेट गरेपछि सुन्दासले पत्रकारहरूसित कुरा गरे। उनले भने-10 मई 2011 मा देशको सर्वोच्च न्यायालयका न्यायाधीस दलबीर भण्डारी र दिपक वर्माको खण्डपीठले देशको 150 भन्दा धेरै अविकसित जिल्लाहरूमा खाद्य उपलब्ध गराउने निर्देश सरकारलाई दिएको थियो। जस अन्तर्गत 40 लाख 50 हजार टन गहुुँँ आवन्टित गरियो। तर त्यो गहुँ अझसम्म पहाड़वासीले प्राप्त गर्न सकेका छैनन्‌। अहिले पनि गरीब बीपीएल परिवारहरूले 250 ग्राम गरेर नै गहुँ पाइरहेका छन्‌। उनले अझ भने- दिल्लीबाट पहाड़ र जंगलमहललाई भनेर सरकारले विशेष खाद्य योजना बनाउने गर्छ। तर त्यो सहुलियत जंगल महलले पाए पनि पहाड़ले भने पाउन सकिरहेको छैन। यसबाट पनि ममता सरकारको पहाड़प्रतिको नियत स्पष्ट हुन्छ। नन्दीग्राम , जंगलमहल, मेदिनापुर, पुरूलियावासीको दुःख जस्तै पहाड़का गरीब सीधा सोझा जनताको पनि दुःख एउटै छ।

तर सरकारले भने पहाड़वासीलाई जंगल महल र नन्दीग्राम भन्दा फरक नीति लिएर हेर्ने गरेको उनले आरोप लगाए। विगत दुइ हप्तादेखि राशिनमा चिनी छैन। बिहान उठेर केही गुलियो खान पाउने भनेको गरीब जनताले त्यही चिनीको चिया हो। त्यो पनि सरकारले दुइ हप्तादेखि खल्लो बनाइदिएको छ। यसै विषयमा कुरा बुझ्न उनी कालेबुङ खाद्य विभाग अधिकारीलाई भेट्‌न आएको सुन्दासले बताए। यता खाद्य विभाग अधिकारी ध्रुव बराइलीले बताए अनुसार एफसीआइबाटै यस्ता टुक्रिएको चामल आउने गरेकाले समस्या उत्पन्न भएको हो। यस्ता टुक्रिएको चामल सयमा 5-10 बोरा हुने गरेको पनि उनले बताए। जति पनि एमआर सपमा यस्ता टुक्रिएको चामल पुगेको छ यसलाई चॉंड़ै फिर्ता ल्याउने प्रतिबद्धता पनि उनले जाहेर गरे साथै जनतालाई यस्तो चामल नलिने पनि अपील गरेका छन्‌। अर्को हप्तादेखि चिनी सबै राशिन दोकानहरूमा उपलब्ध हुने दावी गर्दै बराइलीले चिनीको समस्या भण्डारमा चिनी नभएर नै उत्पन्न भएको बताए। उनले भने- यो कुनै कृतिम समस्या होइन। जिल्ला खाद्य नियन्त्रण विभागसित नै चिनीको भण्डार थिएन। यस्तो अवस्थामा विभागले केही गर्न नसक्ने पनि उनले बताए। अर्कोतिर माकपा नेता सुन्दासले कुनै व्यक्ति विशेषलाई दोष्याउनको निम्ति यस्तो आरोप नलगाएको तर सम्पूर्ण सरकारी तन्त्रको अकर्मन्यताप्रति विभागको ध्यान आकर्षित गराउन यो कदम उठाएको बताए। भुक्तभोगी जनताको हितलाई ध्यानमा राखेर नै मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिष्ट पार्टीको तर्फबाट आफूले आवाज उठाएको पनि उनले जनाए।

पेट्रोलको मूल्य बृद्धिको बिरोधमा चालकहरुले देखाए कालो झण्डा

डी के वाइबा: कालेबुङ ३० मई: केन्द्र सरकारले पेट्रोलको मूल्य बृद्धि यथाशिघ्र फिर्ता लिनुपर्ने माग गर्दै कालेबुङका मोठ २७ वटा भेन चालाकहरुको संगठन चालक महासंघले आज कालो झण्डा बोकेर जोड्दार बिरोध प्रदर्शन गरेको थियो। चालकहरुले शहरमा दैनिक चलाचल गर्ने लोकल ट्याक्सिहरु बन्द राखे पनि शहरमा अन्य वाहनहरुको चलाचल भने स्वभाविक रहेको थियो। यसको साथै बजारमा भने बन्दको कुनै व्यापक असर परेको देख्न सकिएन। मानिसहरु संधै झै स्वाभाविक रुपले बजार पाट गर्न आईरहेको थिए भने शहरमा दोकानहरुको पूर्णरुपले खुल्ला रहेको थियो। यस अवसरमा शहरमा पेट्रोलले चल्ने वहनहरुको चलाचल चालकहरुले बन्द राखेर सडकमा सरकारको बिरोध गर्न ओर्लेका थिए। बिहान यहाँको मेनरोडमा भेन चालकहरु एकबद्ध रुपमा भेला भएर सरकारले पेट्रोलको मूल्यबृद्धि यथाशिघ्र फिर्ता गर्नुपर्ने माग गर्दै कालो झण्डा बोकेर प्रदर्शन गर्दा कुनै अप्रिया घटना हुन नदिन पुलिसबल तैनाथ गरिएको थियो। कालेबुङका भेन चालकहरुले पेट्रोलको मूल्य बृद्धिको बिरोधमा प्रदर्शन गरिरहेको समयमा आवत जवत गरिरहकेको वाहनहरुलाई पनि प्रदर्शनकारीहरुले कालो झण्डा देखाएर सरकारको बिरोधमा एकबद्ध हुने आह्वन गरे। यस अवसरमा आज शहरमा भेनहरुको चलाचल पूर्ण रुपले ठप्प रहेको थियो भने आवश्यक सेवाहरुमा हिडेका भेनहरु मात्र सडकमा कुदेको देख्न पाईयो। भेन चालक संगठनले सरकारको बिरोधमा कालो झण्डा देखाएर प्रदर्शन गर्नुको साथै महकुमा अधिकारीको अनुपस्थितिमा सरकारले बृद्धि गरेको पेट्रोलको मूल्य यथाशिघ्र फिर्ता गर्ने माग गर्दै डिपुटी म्याजिस्ट्रेट डिकी भोटियालाई एउटा ज्ञापन पत्र पनि सुम्पियो। यस अवसरमा डिपुटी म्याजिस्ट्रेट भोटियाले चालकहरुको माग उच्च आधिकारी समक्षराकिदिने आश्वासन दिइन। यता ज्ञापन पत्र सुम्पिए पाछि भेन चालक महासंघका सचिव महेनद्र गुरुङले पत्रकारहरुसित कुराकानी गर्दै पेट्रोलको मूल्य बृद्धिले आम मानिसहरु संगै चालकहरु समस्यामा परिरहेको जानकारी गराए। सरकारले तेलको मूल्य बृद्धि गरेर बिशेष अहिले खटिखाने चालकहरुको पेटमा लात मार्ने काम गरिरहेको आरोप लगाउँदै उक्त बृद्धि यथाशिघ्र फिर्ता गर्नुपर्ने तिनले माग गरे। सरकारले बिनाकारण यसरी दाम बडाएर आम म निसहरुलाई चेपारोमा पारिराहेको बाताउँदै आम जनताको हितमा आज आफुहरुले सरकारको नीति बिरोधमा स्वत: वाहनहरु बन्द राखेको जानकारी गराए।

कालेबुङ नगरपालिकामा सरकारी दस्तावेजहरु गायब बनेको आरटीआईले ग-यो खुलासा

डी के वाइबा: कालेबुङ ३० मई: कालेबुङ नगरपालीका कार्यलयमा कुनै पनि पुरानो आवश्यक दस्तावेजहरु जनतालाई चाहिको खण्डमा उक्त दस्तावेजहरु नगरपालीका कार्यलयामा पाउँन सकिन्दैन। सुन्दा पटक्क पत्यार नलाग्ने उक्त घट्नाको खुलासा स्वंय बर्तमान नगरपालिका अध्यक्ष एल बी परियारले सुचनाको अधिकार कानुन (राईट टू ईन्फरमेसान एक्ट ) अनुरुप जवाद दिएर गरेका छन्। क्रान्तिकारी मार्क्सवादी कम्यनिष्ट पार्टी (क्रामाकपा) कालेबुङ महकुमा समितिले कालेबुङ नगरपालिका कार्यलयलाई अप्रेल १९९४ देखि मार्च २०१२ सम्मको सम्पूर्ण बिकासमूलक कार्यहरुको जानकारी संगै राज्य सरकार अनि केन्द्र सरकारबाट कति धनराशी नगरपालिकाको निम्ति आएको थयो भन्ने जानकारी मागेको थियो। यस लगायत उक्त समय अवधी भित्रमा गरिबी सिमारेखा मुनिका कति परिवारहरुको नगरपालिकाले घर निर्माण गरेको छ भन्ने जवाब मागेको कारण नगरपालिकाले उक्त प्रश्नको जवाबमा कालेबुङ नगरपालिकामा कुनै दस्तावेजहरु नरहेको कारण यी विवराणहरु दिन सकिएन भनि स्पष्ट लेखिदिका छन्। नगरपालिका अध्यक्ष एल बी परियारले कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले बिगत दिनहरुमा कुनै कार्यको विवरण लेखिएको दस्तावेजहरु संरक्षण गरेर नराखेको बताउँदै कतिपय कार्यहरुको मात्र विवरण नगरपालिका कार्यलयमा रहेको आरटीआईको जवाबमा लेखेका छन्। कतिपय फाईलहरु नगर अध्यक्ष तथा बोर्डको निर्देशनमा सुरक्षित राख्ने कार्य भएता पनि उक फाईलहरु समेत पओर्ण नरहेको तिनले सपष्टिकरण दिंदै नगरपालिकामा रहेको अपर्याप्त रेकर्डहरुको कारण क्रामाकपाले मागेको जवाद दिन नसकेकोमा नगरलालिका अध्यक्षले खेद प्रकाट गर्दै केवल बिपिएल परिवारहरुको घर निर्माणको मात्र सुचि प्रदान गरेका छन्।

 कालेबुङ नगरपालिकालाई क्रामाकपाले मागेको आरटीआईको जवाब पूर्णरुपले दिन नसके पछि आज क्रामाकपा कालेबुङ आञ्चलिक समितिका प्रवक्ता मोहन पौढ्यालले प्त्रकार सम्मेलन राखेर कालेबुङ नगरपालिकामा दस्तावेजहरु संरक्षण गरेर नराखिनुले यहाँ ब्यापक भ्रष्टचार रहेको प्रमाणित गरेको दाबी गरेका छन्। तिनले नगरपालिकामा ब्यापक भ्रष्टचारा रहेको कारण नै यसरी रेकर्डका निम्ति राखिनुपर्ने फाईलहरु समेत हराएको बतउँदै यसबारै जाँच हुन आवश्यक रहेको बताए। सभ्य समाजमा एउटा सरकारी कार्यललयमा दस्तावेजहरु संरक्षित नहुने कुराले गोर्खा जातिकै शिर समेत तल झारेको दाबी गार्दै नगरपालिकामा बिकासका निम्ति आएका लाखौ रुपिया भ्रष्टचार भएको हुन सक्ने तिनले दाबी गर्दै यस सम्बन्धमा क्रामाकपाले आगमी दिनहरुमा जोडदार आन्दोलन अघि बडाउँने जानकारी गराएका छन्। क्रामाकपा पर्टीले जनताको हितमा सरकारबाट आएका पैसाहरु नगरपालिकाले कतिसम्म जनताको निम्ति प्रयोग गरेको छ भन्ने कुरा जान्नको निम्ति आरटीआई मार्फत जानकारी मागेको बताउँदै आरटीआईको जवाबमा नगरपालिकामा कुनै रेकर्ड भएको फाईलहरु छैन भन्ने आफुहरुले पाउँदा दुखि बनेको बताउँदै यहाँ जनताको हितमा आएका पैसाहरु नगरपालिका सञ्चालन गर्नेहरुले घोटाला गरेको तिनले दाबी गरे। यस बिषयमा सरकारले उच्च तहको कमिटि बनाएर यथाशिघ्र जाँच कार्य गर्नुपर्ने माग गर्दै क्रामाकपाले जनताको पैसा हिनामिना गर्नेहरुलाई जनताको अघि निकाल्ने प्रवाक्ता मोहन पौढ्यालले दाबी गरे। तिनले कुनै पनि सानो संगठनहरुको समेत हर हिसाब आदि कुराहरु सपष्ट लेखेर राखिने कार्य हुने गरेको बताउँदै यसरी सरकारी कार्यलयमा आवश्यक दस्तावेजहरु नहुनु ठूलो दुर्भाग्य हो भन्दै यसको जवाद बिभागले दिनुपर्ने माग् गरेका छन्। यसै सिलसिलामा तिनले सरकारी कार्यलयमा कसरी कुनै पनि कार्यको रेकर्ड राखिएन भन्ने प्रश्न गर्दै भ्रष्टचार गरेको प्रमाण लुकाउँनको निम्ति यस्तो कार्य भएको हुनसक्ने तिनले दाबी गरेका छन्।

Only head to know panel report: Morcha

 TT, Calcutta, May 29: The report of the territory committee will be submitted to the state government by its chairman in early June without revealing the contents to other members, a Gorkha Janmukti Morcha representative on the panel said today. The Morcha protested at the decision to keep other members out of loop. At the end of the concluding meeting of the committee headed by Justice (retired) Shymal Sen today, one of the four Morcha representatives L.B. Pariyar said: “We discussed all issues pertaining to the territory after which Justice Sen would draw up the recommendations in about 10 days and send the report directly to the chief minister. They would not be shown to us or any other member of the committee.” Pariyar said the Morcha representatives were “unhappy” with this decision. “At today’s meeting we have registered our dissatisfaction in this regard,” Pariyar said. “We wanted to be allowed to go through the recommendations before they are handed over to the chief minister”. 

The committee headed by Sen is looking into the Morcha’s demand to include Gorkha-dominated mouzas in the Dooars and the Terai in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. Emerging from the meeting, Justice Sen said: “In accordance with the request that was made to me, I will try to submit the report by early June. I have received the census report (on the linguistic pattern in the Dooars and the Terai) that I had sought from the home ministry. But I cannot reveal its contents. This was the last meeting held before we submit the report.” Pariyar said “given the sensitive nature of information”, only Justice Sen, the chairman of the committee, would have access to the census report. He added that the Morcha expected that 50 per cent of the 398 mouzas in the plains would be brought under the jurisdiction of the new hill body. “Yes, we certainly expect to get 50 per cent of the mouzas we have identified for their included in the GTA,” Pariyar said. “The GTA election process is on and it is likely that it would be held by the second week of July. The delimitation process is about to be concluded.” Asked about the Morcha’s probable stand if its demand was not met, Pariyar said: “Let us first come to the bridge and only then will we cross it.” The Sen committee, formed in September, started work seeking written submissions from the people of the Dooars and the Terai on the demand to bring parts of the plains under the GTA.This was followed by assessing the views of political parties on the Morcha demand. The committee was supposed to submit its recommendation by February 2012. However, it could not do so and sought a six-month extension. Committee members said one of the reasons for missing the deadline was the delay on the part of the Union home ministry in forwarding the census report on the linguistic pattern in the Dooars and the Terai.Today’s meeting was held after the data arrived a fortnight back.

पहाड़का तीनवटा विद्यालयले फेरि पायो उच्चत्तर माध्यमिकको दर्जा

 May 29th, 2012 राज्यमा ममता व्यानर्जीको सरकार आएपछि पहाड़को समस्याप्रति पनि ध्यान केन्द्रित गर्ने काम भइरहेको देखिएको छ। पहाड़को शिक्षा व्यवस्थामा सुधार ल्याउन पनि सरकारले प्रयास गरिरहेको छ। जनमुक्ति सेकेण्डरी टिचर्स अर्गनाइजेशन (जेएसटीओ)-को प्रयासको प्रतिफल नै पहाड़का धेरैवटा स्कूलहरूले माध्यमिक र उच्च माध्यमिकको दर्जा पाइरहेका छन्। विद्यार्थीहरूले आफ्नो घरको खाना खाएर नै शिक्षा हासिल गर्न सकुन् एवं भर्नाको समस्यामा नपरून् भन्ने उद्देश्य लिएर नै यसरी पहल गरेको जेएसटीओ केन्द्रिय पदाधिकारीहरूले जनाएका छन्। आज पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार उच्च शिक्षा विभागद्वारा दार्जीलिङ पहाड़का तीनवटा माध्यमिक विद्यालयलाई उच्चत्तर माध्यमिकको मान्यता दिएको कलकत्ताबाट इएमसीका संयोजक छिरिङ तामाङले जानकारी दिए। आज उच्चत्तर माध्यमिकको दर्जा पाएका विद्यालयहरूमा बेटेन उच्च विद्यालय तकभर, धजिया उच्च विद्यालय धजिया र होलीक्रस कन्या उच्च विद्यालय सोनादा रहेका छन्। आज तीनवटा विद्यालयले यसरी उच्चत्तर माध्यमिकको निम्ति विभागद्वारा प्रोभिजनल मान्यता पाएको संयोजक छिरिङ तामाङले बताए। अब पश्चिम बंगाल उच्चत्तर शिक्षा पर्षदबाट मान्यताको संख्या प्राप्त हुने जनाउँदै यसको निम्ति स्कूलले पनि पत्राचार गर्नुपर्ने बताए। संगठनले नै पहल गरेर यो पनि दिलाउने उनले जनाउँदै यसरी मान्यता पाएका तीनैवटा विद्यालयहरूमा3-3 जना गरेर अतिरिक्त पद पनि स्वीकृत भएको जनाए। यसको निम्ति कुन कुन विषयमा शिक्षक लगाउने त्यो स्कूलले नै निर्णय गरेर काउन्सिललाई जनाउनुपर्ने बताए। हालसम्म 27 वटा विद्यालयले उच्चदेखि उच्चत्तर माध्यमिकको दर्जा प्राप्त गरिसकेको उनले जनाउँदै भोलि माध्यमिक परीक्षाको फलाफल घोषणासितै यी तीनैवटा विद्यालयले पनि एघारौं श्रेणीमा भर्ना लिनसक्ने बताए। पहाड़को शिक्षा व्यवस्थालाई सुदॄढ़ बनाउन यसरी जेएसटीओ लागिपरेको बताउँदै हाल आफूहरू कलकत्तामा रहेको महासचिव विजय प्रधान अनि संयोजक छिरिङ तामाङले बताए। सरकारसितको बारम्बार बैठक तथा शिक्षा विभागमा जेएसटीओले गरेको पत्राचार र कुराकानीको फलस्वरूप नै यसरी शिक्षामा सुधार ल्याउने कार्य भएको उनीहरूले जनाए। पहाड़मा रहेका शिक्षा सम्बन्धि विभिन्न समस्याहरूको समाधान गर्न कलकत्तामा पहल भइरहेको तामाङ अनि प्रधानले आज टेलिफोन मार्फत् जानकारी दिए। rongotimes.com.....

बिरामीहरुलाई स्वस्थ बनाउन पर्ने रम्बि प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केन्द्र आफै अस्वस्थ्य बनिरहेको छ

 डी के वाइबा, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ 29 मई: राष्ट्रिय राजमार्ग 31ए मा अवस्थित रम्बि प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केन्द्र अहिले रोगीहरुलाई स्वास्थ्य बनाउँनको साटो आफै दिनो दिन अस्वस्थ्य बन्दै गईरहेको छ। कोटा अनुरुप अस्पतालमा छ जना डाक्टर, 12 जना नर्सहरु हुनपर्ने भएता पनि अहिले घरी 4 जना डाक्टरहरु अनि 6 जना नर्सहरुले अस्पतालमा रोगीहरुको स्याहर सुसार गर्न परिरहेको छ। मानिसहरु सैयौँको संख्यामा प्रतिदिन उक्त प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केन्द्रमा स्वास्थ्य जाँच गर्न आउँछन तर डाक़्टरहरु अपर्याप्त रहेको कारण अस्पतालमा आईपुगेर बिरामी जाँच गर्न अन्य अस्पतालतिर जान परिरहेको छ। यतिमात्र होईन राष्ट्रिय राजमार्ग 31 ए मा कुनै सडक दुर्घटना हुँदा पनि धेरजसो रम्बि प्राथमिक केन्द्रमा नै प्राथमिक उपचारको निम्ति पुर्याउँने काम गरिन्छ तर अस्पतालमा समयमा डाक्टरहरुको अभाव हुने गरेको कारण बिरामीहरुको ज्यान बचाउँन अन्यत्र हतार गरेर लैजान पर्ने भएको स्थानीय आनिसहरुको भनाई रहेको छ। यतिमात्र होईन उक्त स्वास्थ्य केन्द्रमा सरकारी दवाईहरुको अभाव समेत सधै खट्किने गरेको कारण बिरामीहरुले आफ्नै खर्चमा दवाईहरु किनेर खान परेको पनि स्थानीय मानिसहरुको गुनासो रहेको छ।

 अस्पतालमा सरसफाई गर्ने कर्मचारीहरुको अभाव त छँदैछ जसको कारण आधा दिन बित्दा समेत अस्पताल परिसरमा रहेको दुर्घन्धित मैलाहरु बिरामीहरुलाई थप अर्को बिरामी बनाउँने गरि सडिरहेको अवस्थामा रहेको हुन्छ। सोहि अस्पतालको विविध समस्याहरुलाई लिएर आज रम्बि ग्राम समितिका एक प्रतिनिधी टोलिले अस्पतालका अधिकारी डा सि के छेत्रीलाई भेट गरेर अस्पतालमा रहेको समस्याहरु समाधान गर्ने माग गर्दै ज्ञापन पत्र सुम्पियो। ग्राम समितिका सयोजक सजिव प्रधानले अस्पतालको समस्या समाधानको माग गर्दै ज्ञापन पत्र सुम्पिए पछि पत्रकारहरुसित कुराकानी गर्दै अस्पतालमा डाक्टर, नर्स अनि अन्य कर्मचारीहरुको अभाव रहेको कारण स्थानीय मानिसहरुले अनेकौ समस्याहरु भोग्न परिरहेको बताउँदै यस बिषयमा बिभागले यथाशिघ्र पहल गर्नुपर्ने माग गरे। तिनले अस्पतालमा समस्याहरु अनेकौ हुनको साथै डाक्टहरु कार्यमा समेत नियमितरुपले उपस्थित नहुने गरेको आरोप लगाए। दिनहौ अस्पतालमा मानिसहरु स्वास्थ्य जाँच गर्न अस्पतालमा आउँने गरे पनि अस्पतालमा डाक्टरहरु अभावको कारण सबैले थुप्रै दुख भोग्न परिरहेको दाबी गर्दै अस्पतालमा मैलाहरुको थुप्रोले पनि परिसर दुर्घन्धित रहेको तिनले बताए।

 यसका साथै अस्पतालमा अनेकौ तक्निकीहरु भएता पनि यसको प्रयोग नभएको कारण पनि मानिसहरुले स साना जाँच गर्नको निम्ति पनि नजिकै रहेको स्वास्थ्य केन्द्र छोडेर अन्यत्र जान परिरहेको तिनले गुनासो पोखे। अर्कोतिर यस बिषयमा अस्पतालका स्वास्थ्य अधिकारी सी के छेत्रीसित जान्न चाहँदा तिनले अस्पतालमा डाक्टर तथा नर्सहरुको अभावकै कारण आफुहरुले पनि थुप्रै समस्या भोग्न परिरहेको स्पष्टिकरण दिए। पहिले पुरानो अस्पतालको भवन जिर्ण रहेको कारण अझ थुप्रो समस्या रहेको बताउँदै गत वर्ष नयाँ भवनको निर्माण भए पछि कतिपय समस्याहरु भने समाधान भएको तिनले जनाए। बिभागले नयाँ भवन निर्माण गरे पनि अस्पतालमा डाक़्टर तथा नर्स अनि अन्य कर्मचारीहरु पूर्ण रुपले नियुक्ति नगरेको बताउँदै यस बिषयमा सम्बन्धित अधिकारीहरुलाई पत्राचार समेत गरेर समस्याबारे अवगत गराएको तिनले जानकारी गराए। तिनले अस्पतालमा डाक़्टरहरु समयमा उपस्थित हुँदैन भन्ने कुराको खण्डन गर्दै डाक्टरहरुले आफ्नो जिम्मेवारी ईमान्दारसंग निभाउँने कार्य गरिरहेको तिनले दाबी गर्दै यदि भिभागले सबै डाक्टर तथा नर्सहरुको नियुक्ति गरे मानिसहरुले कुनै समस्या भोग्न नपर्ने जानकारी गराए। यसै सिलसिलामा आफुहरुले विभागबाट आएको सरकारी दवाईहरु बिरामीहरुलाई सही तरिकाले बितरण गरिरहेको बताउँदै यदि विभागले अस्पताललाई उपलब्ध गराएको दवाई सकेको खण्डमा भने बिरामीहरुले दवाई किन्न परेको पनि तिनले स्पष्टिकरण दिएक छन।

गोर्खाल्याण्ड डम्बरचोकमा माग्दा हुँदैन पिण्टेल भिलेज र बाघपुलदेखि तल झरेर आन्दोलन गरून्ःविमलकालेबुङ,

डम्बरचोक र चन्द्रमानधुरामा जनसभा गरेर गोर्खाल्याण्ड नहुने बताउँदै आन्दोलनात्मक कार्यक्रम बाघपुल र पिण्टेल भिलेजमुनि गरेर देखाउने चुनौति गोजमुमो प्रमुख विमल गुरूङले दिएका छन्। पहाड़मा हाल जीटीए चुनाउको तयारी चलिरहेको छ। गोजमुमोले हाल हाई पावर कमिटीद्वारा हुने तराई डुवर्सको सर्वेक्षण रिपोर्टमाथि नजर राखेर बसेको छ। सम्भावित जुलाई महीनामा जीटीए चुनाउ हुने विषयलाई केन्द्र गर्दै 45 वटा समष्टिको सिमाङ्कन पनि गरिसकेको छ। यस्तो स्थितिमा हिजो क्रामाकपाले गोर्खाल्याण्डको दावी गर्दै कालेबुङको डम्बरचोकमा जनसभा गरेको थियो। सोही सभालाई लक्ष्य गर्दै मोर्चा प्रमुख विमल गुरूङले एउटा टेलिभिजन च्यानलसंगको साक्षात्कारमा भने-डम्बरचोक र चन्द्रमानधुराबाट भाषण गर्दा गोर्खाल्याण्ड हुने कुरा होइन। मुद्दालाई सड़कदेखि संसदसम्म पुऱ्याउने केवल मोर्चा हो। 

हामी भाषणमा होइन,कर्ममा विश्वास राख्छौं। आन्दोलन गर्दा हामीले धेरै गुमाएका छौं। यदि आन्दोलन नै गर्ने हो भने बाघपुल र पिण्टेल भिलेजमुनि गएर कार्यक्रम गरेर देखाउन्। यसो भनेर उनले डुवर्स केन्द्रित कार्यक्रमको इशारा गरिरहेका थिए। जनतालाई गलत मार्गनिर्देशन गराउनु नहुने जनाउँदै उनले भने-86को आन्दोलनको क्रममा यही नेताहरूको कारण धेरैको ज्यान गएको थियो। 12 सय गोर्खाहरूलाई शहीद बनाउनुमा उनीहरूको पनि हात रहेको आरोप उनले लगाए। आज पनि शहीदहरूको सालिग यहॉं बनाइएको छ। माकपाकै मान्छेको पनि सालिग बनाइएको छ। जसमा विच्छिन्नवादी आन्दोलनमा शहीद बनेको भनेर घोषणा गरिएको छ। जसले गोर्खाल्याण्डको आन्दोलनलाई विच्छिन्नवादी आन्दोलनको संज्ञा दिए,उनैले आज गोर्खाल्याण्ड माग्दा कसरी विश्वास गर्नु ? उनले प्रश्न गरे।

Dooars-Terai ethnic groups in battlefield GTA

 The Pioneer, 28 MAY 2012 : The Hill time-bomb seems to be ticking away, as ethnic groups of the Dooars and Terai vowing ‘to resist tooth and nail any bid to include even an inch of our land into the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration’. With reports of Justice Shyamal Sen Committee on the vexed issue scheduled to come out within a few of weeks, the ethnic groups of Jalpaiguri district have decided to start a protest movement against what they called a ploy to ‘rob the locals of their land in order to appease the Gorkhas’. These groups include the Bodo People’s Forum, Toto Social Welfare Forum and Rava Development Council, apart from the Lepcha and Dhukpa organisations. These groups, largely inhabiting the Alipurduar sub-division of Jalpaiguri, are working in tandem with the local Bengalis and Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad and even the Kamtapuri People’s Party, according to sources. The joint council of these groups that officially started its movement from Sunday iterated that no area from the Dooars and Terai would be allowed to go into the GTA. Gorkha Janmukti Morcha spearheading the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration movement has demanded 498 moujas from the plains that could account for a total area measuring about a sub-division. ‘The GJM is asking for pieces of land that officially does not belong to the Gorkhas. In fact historically speaking most of these areas are now colonised by infiltrators who came from Nepal in the past two decades. They have no right to claim these areas,’ said NK Burman a leader of Dooars-Terai Citizen’s Forum insisting ‘we have no problem with whatever they do in the Hills. But we will not allow them to grab lands in the plains.’ The larger organisations like ABAVP, Amra Bangali and KPP had already been protesting against any transfer of land from plains to the GTA. ‘Not only this land belongs to the local people, but also if moujas are given to GTA then it would be a big jolt to cause of making Alipurduar a district’ an Alipurduar Guardians’ Forum leader said adding ‘the administration is playing with fire’ and warning a problem that was initially confined to the Hills would now be transported to the plains inviting insurgent forces from neighbouring Assam. The ABAVP, KPP and Bengalis on their part have opposed the composition of the high-powered committee that consisted of only Gorkhas and had no representatives from the people from Dooars and Terai. Meanwhile, the number of GTA constituencies went up to 45 after 17 moujas were added to the existing 28 which formed the part of the erstwhile Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council. These added moujas are however not the part of the 498 moujas which have been demanded by the GJM. Elsewhere sources said Shyamal Sen Committee could strike a compromise by giving only a few moujas to the GTA in order to afford the GJM a face-saver in the Hills. The Hill outfit has threatened that it would not let elections take place in Darjeeling till the delimitation of the Dooars-Terai areas was completed.

Gorkha’s GTA area demand on table today

 ENS : Kolkata, Tue May 29 2012The high-power committee headed by Justice Shyamal Sen will hold a meeting tomorrow to decide on the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s demand for inclusion of new territory in the Gorkha Territorial Administration. The date for final recommendations of the committee is drawing near, but Justice Sen has asked for time till end-July to submit his report. The delimitation of constituencies of the existing area of \Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) has been completed, and as of now the GTA has 45 constituencies where the GTA election will be conducted. The 45 constituencies include 23 constituencies from Darjeeling, 13 constituencies from Kalimpong and nine constituencies from Kurseong. However, the notification for the election in the GTA area is yet to be issued and the election date is yet to be declared. The May 29 meeting was called almost after a month after the committee received the mouza-level language-based census data for 400 mouzas that were demanded by the GJM. A senior official of the panel, however, said, “The agenda is yet to be prepared for tomorrow’s meeting. The ‘present status’ of the committee’s work will be discussed, and that might include the status of mouzas that are likely to be included in the GTA.” The GJM’s senior leadership, however, is eagerly awaiting the meeting. “We are expecting to get a picture about the territory of the GTA tomorrow,” said Harka Bahadur Chetri, GJM MLA. The GJM had agreed to elections in the hills after a meeting on March 25 with Mamata Banerjee. The Morcha had earlier insisted that elections could not be held till the territory of the GTA was fixed. The state government then adopted a five-point resolution in which it was decided that elections to the three hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong could be held in the end of June or early July.

“Justice is all we want”- Highway Block Committee Dissatisfied with demarcation Highway Committees submit letter to the DM demanding separate Constituency

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, May 29: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Branch, Highway Block Committee of the National Highway (NH) 31A has cautioned about an agitation this coming Sunday after the demarcation of 45 Constituencies came into their notice. They also forwarded a letter through the Kalimpong Sub Division Office, to the Darjeeling District Magistrate (DM) voicing against the demarcation. The letter was handed over to the DMDC, TN Sherpa in the presence of the Sub Divisional Officer, by the Highway Block Committee, Highway Yuva Morcha and Highway Naari Morcha along with other Committees under the Morcha.

 They have also attached a copy of the demand letter which was forwarded to the Morcha President, MLAs, DM, SDO and BDO. The Highway Block Committee President, Sagar Lama mentioned that when the GJM was formed in October 07, 2007, they had demanded the Morcha for a separate Constituency to which the Morcha Chief had given them assurance. The Committee has also several times submitted applications to all the Administrations demanding to bring the stretch from Sevoke 10th Mile Forest Busty till Rangpo, West Bengal under one Constituency, he notified. Further, he acquainted that 80% of the highway area comes under Kalimpong Sub Division but after the demarcation the most of the highway areas is under Darjeeling and Kurseong as compared to Kalimpong. This in a way is of inconvenience for the locals when looked in an Administrative way, he underlined. Saying that they have given the Administration an ultimatum of 3 days, the President warned that if their demand goes unattended then all the Government establishments along the highway will be put to halt. “Justice is all we want”, he stated. The Highway Yuva Morcha President, Bishal Rai highlighting the importance of the highway said that it is the only way to connect the neighbouring Sikkim with West Bengal. Hence to maintain peace and order along the NH 31A, it is a must that the area between Sevoke to Rangpo should be bound under one political source. “We were better off under the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) for under Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) we have been divided under 7 Constituencies and various Panchayats instead of our demand”, he whined. Rai also appealed the Morcha’s Central clique to pressurize in formation of a separate Constituency. Lastly, he also informed that they including all the highway residents will conduct a signature campaign and postering highlighting their demand.

Teesta Har of Kendriya Vidyalaya topped CBSE cl-XII with 90.2%

MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, May 28 Teesta Har, a student of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kalimpong has topped the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 examination securing 90.2% in Science stream. The principal Binita Sinha informing about the results said a total of six students had sat for the exams in Science stream, where Teesta Har topped with 90.2% followed by Aziz with 78%, Ruchi Sagar with 76.8%. After the declaration of the CBSE Class-12 results mush curiosity among the students was perceived in Kalimpong town this afternoon. Under the CBSE, Kalimpong has three schools counting Central school for Tibetans, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sai Institute of Education and Researched.The Central school for Tibetans had the pass percentage of 97.8% where 47 students from Arts had sat for the examination. Tshering Yanzom topped the school securing 72.6%. Similarly the principal of the Sai Institute of Education and Research, BK Bandhari informing on the results said that the 16 students in Commerce passed out the examination with Pradhina Chettri topping the school with 67%. In the Arts stream a total of 14 passed out of 18 where Mingma Dorjee topped with 78%. Likewise in the Science, Bhumika Chettri topped with 67% informed the principal.

All parties chapter closed’, no reliance in opposition- GJM

 The GJM today conducted a meeting on the implementation of the GTA, the GTA and the panchayat election under wards no 1-6 of Kalimpong. The meeting had the presence of the wards councilors, the representatives and the public. The GJM central committee vice president Kalyan Dewan was present in the ward 1, where as in ward no 2 and 3, Kalimpong sub divisional secretary Samuel Gurung and central committee member Bijay Sundas were present respectively. Similarly ward no 4 had Dr RB Bhujel, ward 5 had Norden Lama and ward no 6 had Franchise Dewan, all the members of the central committee.All the GJM representatives present in the different wards briefed about the development coming along the way of GTA and informed them about the upcoming GTA and the panchayat election.Samuel Gurung speaking to the reporters said that the oppositions are alleging the GJM of misguiding the people in the name of Gorkhaland. But he questioned that when the first tripartite talks taking all the representatives of the parties was held in Delhi, did they uttered about Gorkhaland? It was during that time the GJM had lost its trust on the oppositions and declared ‘all parties chapter close’. GTA is only the medium to Gorkhaland and it is our main issue said Gurung.

 बिगत दिनहरुमा छुट्टै राज्यको आन्दोलनको निम्ति गोजमुमो पार्टीको गठंकाल देखिने हाईवे वासीले ईमान्दार संग आन्दोलन गरिरहेको बताउँदै अन्तमा यसरी समष्टि गठन गर्दा भने हाईवे वासीलाई वञ्चित राखेको कारण मानिसहरु आक्रोशित बनेको बताउँदै यस बिषयमा बिभागले यथाशिघ्र पहल नगरे हाईवे वासी आन्दोलनको निम्ति तयार रहेको जानकारी लामाले गराए। यसै सम्बन्धमा बोल्दै तिनले यदि बिभागले छुट्टै हाईवे समष्टि गठन नगरे आगमी दिनहरुमा हाईवे वासीले आमरण अन्शन, पथ अवरोध साथै हाईवे क्षेत्रमा निर्माणाधीन कार्यहरु अनिश्चितकालीन बन्द समेत गर्ने तिनले चेतावनी दिएका छन। यता यसै सम्बन्धमा गोजयुमो अध्यक्ष बिशाल राईले पत्रकारहरुलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै सरकारले समष्टि गठन गर्दा हाईवे समष्टि गठन नगरेको कारण सरकार बिकास अनि जनताको पक्षमा नरहेको प्रमाणित बनेको बताउदै हाईवे वासीलाई धोका भएको तिनले दाबी गरे। भौगोलिक आधारमा हाईवे समष्टि बनाउँन आवश्यक रहेको तिनले बताउँदै बर्तमान समयमा सरकारले समष्टि गठन गर्दा हाईवे वासीलाई बञ्चित राखेर जनताको हितमा काम नगरेको बताए। यस सम्बन्धमा गोजमुमो पार्टीका शिर्षस्थ नेताहरुले समेत ध्यान दिएर हाईवे वासीको समस्या समाधानको पहल गर्नुपर्ने तिनले माग गरेका छन।

समष्टि सिमाङ्कनलाई लिएर रोंगो जोनको आपत्ति माथिल्लो घर 44 मा तल्लो घर 45 समष्टिमा

 जीटीए कार्यान्वयनको निम्ति 45 वटा समष्टि बनिने अधिसूचना जारी भए लगत्तै यसको कार्यान्वयनमा देखिने प्रशासनिक असुविधाहरूलाई लिएर जनगुनासोहरू अघि आउन थालिसकेको छ। पूर्वमा 28 समष्टिलाई दुइ भाग गरेर 44 कुमाई सामसिङ समष्टि र 45 तोदे ताङ्‌ता जलढका समष्टि बनाइएको छ। तर समस्या कहॉं देखियो भने रोंगो सिन्कोना विभाग अन्तर्गत रहेको लोवर धाप गाउँ, अप्पर धाप गाउँ,42 गाउँ र ट्याङ्की डॉंड़ा गाउँ 44 समष्टि अर्थात कुमाई सामसिङ समष्टिमा पर्न गएको छ। यसरी एउटै सिन्कोना विभाग अन्तर्गतको अन्य गाउँहरू 45 नम्बर समष्टिमा परे पनि यी चार गाउँ भने 44 समष्टिमा परेको छ। सिमाना जोड़िएको गोरेटोले मात्र छुट्टिएको एउटा घर 44 समष्टिमा अर्को घर 45 समष्टिमा परेकाले गाउँवासीहरूमा व्यापक अन्योलता र असन्तुष्टि देखिएको छ। गोर्खा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा रोंगो जोनका सभापति विजय गुरूङ पेलेले यो सिमाङ्कनलाई अव्यवहारिक बताउँदै यसलाई चॉंड़ै संशोधन गरिनुपर्ने बताए। शाखा-3 का सचिव सुरज राई अनुसार एउटै गाउँको तल्लो र माथिल्लो घर फरक फरक समष्टिमा परेकाले गाउँवासीहरू असन्तुष्ट भएको बताउँछन्‌। उनले भने- रोंगो सिन्कोना बगानको यी गाउँहरू खासमहल क्षेत्र र चियाबगान क्षेत्रसित जोड़िँदा प्रशासनिक असुविधाहरू आउनसक्छ। यसैले यसलाई चॉंड़ै संशोधन गरिनु जरूरी छ। पूर्व 28 नम्बर समष्टिका संयोजक विराट गुरूङलाई यस सम्बन्धमा प्रश्न गर्दा उनले पनि यो सिमाङ्कन सान्दर्भिक नरहेको बताए। चॉंड़ै यस सम्बन्धमा खण्ड विकास अधिकारी, मोर्चा नेतृत्व एवं अन्य सम्बन्धित विभागसित कुरा गर्ने उनको भनाइ छ। सिमाङ्कनमा देखिएको यस्तो जनगुनासोप्रति गोरूबथान खण्ड विकास अधिकारी प्रितम लिम्बुसित बुझ्दा उनले जहॉं जहॉं समस्या देखिएको छ त्यहॉं त्यहॉं स्थानीयहरूले लिखित गुनासो दर्ता गरे समस्याको समाधानार्थ पहल गर्न सकिने बताए। उनी अनुसार आगामी 2 जूनसम्म लिखित गुनासो विभाग समक्ष दर्ता गर्न सकिने बताए।    rongotimes.com 

कालेबुङमा क्रामाकपाको विराट जनसभा — गोर्खाल्याण्ड माग्नेहरूमाथि नै आक्रमण गर्ने षड़्‌यन्त्र हुँदैछःआरबी राई

 कालेबुङ,27मई (छुदेन काविमो)ःजीटीए चुनाउको निम्ति 45 वटा समष्टिको पुनर्सीमांकन गरेको भोलिपल्ट नै क्रामाकपाले कालेबुङको डम्बरचोकमा विराट जनसभाको आयोजना गर्दै गोर्खाल्याण्डको निम्ति सबैलाई सहयोग पुऱ्याइदिने आह्वान गरेको छ। कालेबुङ मेनरोडको दुवैतिर क्रामाकपाको झण्डा सजिएको थियो भने जनसभा अघि दलीय समर्थकहरूले जुलूसको पनि प्रदर्शन गरे। जुलूसको प्रदर्शनी र समर्थकहरूको नाराबाजीपछि तक्निकी गड़बड़ीको कारण समय भन्दा केही ढिलो गरी जनसभा शुरू भयो। फलस्वरूप समयको अभावले क्रामाकपा अध्यक्ष आरबी राईले जनसभालाई सम्बोधन गरेनन्‌ भने मञ्चबाटै पत्रकारहरूसंग कुरा गर्दै राईले भने-सरकारसंग सम्झौता भएपछि गोर्खाल्याण्ड माग्नेहरूमाथि नै आक्रमण गर्ने षड़यन्त्र भइरहेको छ। गोर्खाल्याण्ड माग्नेहरूलाई कमजोर बनाउने प्रचेष्टा भइरहेको छ। यहॉं अगणतान्त्रिक कार्य बढ़ेर गएको छ। मीडियामाथि प्रत्यक्ष हमला हुँदैछ।

 आम मानिसमा भय र सन्त्रासको माहोल थोप्ने कार्य भइरहेको छ। यही भयभित माहोल हटाउन नै यो जनसमावेश गरिएको हो। मोर्चा प्रमुखले सरकारी कार्यहरूको घोषणा गर्दै हिँड़ेकोमा आपत्ति जनाउँदै यसको जवाब सरकारले दिनुपर्ने माग राईले गरेका छन्‌। उनले भने-पार्टी प्रमुखले कसरी सरकारी कार्यको घोषणा गर्न सक्छन्‌? उनी कुनै निर्वाचित सदस्य होइनन्‌ तर विकासको निम्ति आएको करोड़ौं रूपियॉंको कामको घोषणा गर्दै हिँड़दैछन्‌। यो सरासर असंवैधानिक र गैर कानूनी हो। यसको स्पष्टीकरण सरकार पक्षले दिनुपर्छ। जीटीए चुनाउबारे प्रश्न गर्दा उनले जनाए अनुसार उद्देश्य, माहोल र स्थिति हेरेर नै केन्द्रिय समितिले यसको निर्णय लिनेछ। किनकि क्रामाकपाको मूल उद्देश्य नै गोर्खाल्याण्ड आन्दोलन हो। भावी कार्यक्रम गोरामुमोले बन्दकी बनाएको आमालाई गोजमुमोले पूरै बेचेको आरोप लगाउँदै क्रामाकपा केन्द्रिय महासचिव तारामणि राईले भने- गोर्खाल्याण्डको निम्ति क्रामाकपाले संघर्ष गर्नेछ। जसको निम्ति लगातार कार्यक्रमहरू गरिनेछ। दार्जीलिङ बाहिरको कार्यक्रम अघिबाटै जारी थियो भने अब यहॉं जुलूस र जनसभाको कार्यक्रम यथावत्‌ राखिने छ। 24 जूनमा खरसाङमा जनसभाको आयोजना गरिनेछ। जुलाईमा मिरिक,सोनादा र विजनबारीमा जुलूस गरिने छ। त्यसपछि अगस्त महीनामा दिल्ली धरनाको कार्यक्रम रहने छ। घर पहिला कि सिँढ़ी ? गोजमुमोले जीटीएलाई गोर्खाल्याण्डको सिँढ़ीको संज्ञा दिएकोमा प्रतिक्रिया गर्दै क्रामाकपा केन्द्रिय कार्यकारिणी अध्यक्ष एलएम लामाले भने-घर पहिले बनाइन्छ कि सिँढ़ी? घरबिनाको सिँढ़ीमा चढे हालत के हुन्छ। यो कस्तो फर्मूला हो। गोर्खाल्याण्डको मिशन लिएर आउनेहरू कमिशनमा भुल्लिनु राम्रो होइन। अझ पनि समय छ। सामूहिक नेतृत्वको ढोका खुल्ला छ। बन्दकी आमालाई फुकाएर ल्याउनको निम्ति पहाड़का विधायकहरूलाई गोर्खाल्याण्डको चाबी बनाएर पठायौं। तर उनीहरूले भोटे ताला झुण्ड्याएर फर्के। क्रामाकपाको दहिनेतिर टास्क फोर्स्‌ र देब्रेतिर अल इण्डिया लेफ्ट कोओर्डिनेशन रहेको जनाउँदै गोर्खाल्याण्ड बनाउने ठोकुवा गरे। गोजमुमोमाथि सोझै बर्सिन्दै उनले भने-सुवास घिसिङ खेदियो। मदन तामाङको हत्या भयो। टीकाराम शर्मा र पुष्पजंग थापाहरूको हत्या गरियो। के यो जीटीएकै निम्ति हो ? क्रामाकपा बिक्री हुँदैन क्रामाकपालाई किन्ने पैसा देशमानै नबनिएको दावी गर्दै गक्रायुमो केन्द्रिय महासचिव अरूण घतानीले भने-क्रामाकपा पैसामा बिक्री हुँदैन। आज जनसभामा आउनेलाई रोक्ने काम भयो। कतिवटा सिण्डिकेटको गाड़ी रोकियो। अब क्रामाकपालाई कसैले रोक्न सक्दैन।

 हामी भोको बस्छौं। तर स्वाभिमान बेच्दैनौं। यसैले कुनै पनि दलले क्रामाकपालाई लिएर हिँड़्‌न मान्दैन। हाम्रो धैर्यतालाई कसैले कायरता नसम्झुन्‌। माटोको निम्ति आन्दोलन गर्नेहरूले आज बाटो खन्ने कार्य गरिरहेको बताउँदै कन्ट्रयाक्टमा अस्तित्वलाई बेच्न नहुने बताए। जीएलपीको भविष्यमाथि खेलवाड़ भइरहेको बताउँदै जुन उद्देश्यको निम्ति जनमत लिएर विधायकहरू गएका थिए सो पूरा नगरेपछि फर्केर आउनु पर्ने उनले बताए। भ्रष्टाचारीको सञ्जाल दार्जीलिङमा भ्रष्टाचारमात्र भइरहेको आरोप लगाउँदै क्रामाकपा केन्द्रिय प्रवक्ता गोविन छेत्रीले भने-आरबी राईले आफ्नो निम्ति केही गरेनन्‌। केवल जनताको निम्ति गरे। राईले के गरे,सो जान्ने हो भने सावन राईकोमा भएको किताब लिएर हेर्दा हुन्छ। कृषि विकासको निम्ति आएको 183 करोड़को राशि कहॉं पुग्यो? सुन्तला खेतीको निम्ति आएको 35 करोड़ कहॉं पुग्यो? उनले प्रश्न गरे। जनसभालाई क्रामाकपा कालेबुङ अध्यक्ष किशोर प्रधान,नारी मोर्चाकी विन्दिया डुक्पा,सन्तोष प्रधान आदिले सम्बोधन गरेका थिए। क्रामाकपा केन्द्रिय उपाध्यक्ष जेबी राईको अध्यक्षतामा सम्पन्न उक्त सभालाई केन्द्रिय सदस्य मोहन पौड़्‌यालले सञ्चालन गरेका थिए। आज यहॉं भएको जनसभालाई केन्द्र गर्दै प्रशासनले कठोर सुरक्षा व्यवस्था गरेको थियो।   rongotimes.com

CPRM demonstrates its strength at Kalimpong “The GJM is not in mission but they are in commission”- CPRM

 MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, May 27 The CPRM party after long interval showcasing its vigor today conducted a mass rally and public meeting in Kalimpong town. The rally which commenced from a bus stand near Novelty hall had the party workers from all parts of the hills. “We want Gorkhaland, long live revolution, don’t think us feeble” were echoed all around. The rally was later dissolved into a public meeting at Damber Chowk amidst tight security. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of JB Rai. CPRM RALLY NEAR NOVELTY HALL CPRM RALLY AT DAMBER CHOWK Addressing the gathering CPRM Kalimpong president Kishor Pradhan said that the party programmes are not as slow as some of them are calculating. In fact it is being organized country wide where and the party has been successful till date.

 The central committee working president LM Lama questioned the GJM on change that has been brought in the hills after assassinating Madan Tamang and driving away Subash Ghising. Madan Tamang was considered as a hindrance for Gorkhaland earlier, but what next after his death. The GJM used to claim that they have the key for a lock in Kolkata and had asked for people’s support. Earlier, the GJM also claimed that rs 131 crs of the DGHC funds was over said Lama and added that the Bimal Gurung is only president of the GJM not of the DGHC. “The GJM is not in mission but they are in commission” asserted Lama. The people have to be conscious and has to come under one roof as the GTA is not constitutional he added. 

Subash Ghising was set free to administer the DGHC similarly Bimal Gurung has been the same. The CPRM Yuwa Morcha general secretary Arun Ghatani lauded from the podium “If you try to stop the CPRM, the party is not at all stopping”. The GJM has been obstructing the CPRM in the way to Gorkhaland, hence we appeal them to mind their own business he said. “We have sacrificed our lives for the cause of Gorkhaland” said Ghatani. He also said that any parties in the hills should not misdirect the people in the name of Gorkhaland. The CPRM party is not at all designed for deal and we want more and more people to support for the cause he added. The GLPs are too misguided by the GJM for personal benefits. “You (GJM) administer the GTA, but never try to stop the CPRM, we don’t want Gorkhas to be Mir Jafar” said Ghatani. Spokesperson Govind Chettri inquired about the 135 crs and the 35 crs which was stipulated in the name of agricultural developmental and orange farming respectively by the GJM. Taramani Rai also addressing the gathering informed about the upcoming CPRM meetings at Kurseong on 24 June, in Mirik on July and other places. “Ghising had tied down Gorkhaland, Bimal Gurung has trade it” he said.

GJM president Bimal Gurung assertions are illegal- RB Rai

The CPRM president RB Rai after the meeting today said that it was a follow-up meeting of the May Day. The meeting was generally to oppose the acceptance of the GTA by the GJM joining hands with the Bengal government. Rai said that the meeting also was against the GJM pessimistic feeling towards the oppositions in the hills, their undemocratic means and actions, discrimination to the mass media, the freedom of press, violence and many other injustice to the people of the hills. R.B.RAI AND OTHERS Recalling the May Day celebration, Rai said that the GJM tried their label best to obstruct us but they failed as we had patience and trust among ourselves. The GJM in different places has misguided the people showering huge amounts of money. Under what provision the GJM president Bimal Gurung has been declaring new schemes and projects worth crores rupees questioned Rai. This is illegal, unconstitutional and anti-administrative as the president of party cannot affirm such things, in fact only the administrative authority, the MLA or the MP can do so. Regarding the matter the administration and the government needs to take firm action against him said Rai. Commenting on the upcoming election Rai said that the meeting was not aimed at the election and the party has been conducting meetings from past. The GJM has polluted the demand of the Gorkhaland and it is for sure this is another tactics of the GJM. ‘We will not contest the election as the environment is not at all conducive for the election. The central committee shall decide whether to take part in the election or not’ said Rai. If we found the need for contesting the election than we will, otherwise we were and we will voice for Gorkhaland

Our way or the highway Highway Committees and NH 31A locals alert a highway uprising if not granted a separate Constituency

: Much hullabaloo has been created in the hills after the topic of demarcation of 45 seats of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) came into notice after being highlighted by the District Administration Office under Darjeeling District Administration 24 hours ago. Though the Kalimpong Subdivision has been allotted 13 seats still the locals of the National Highway (NH) 31A, stretched from Rangpo, West Bengal to Sevoke, who have been demanding for a separate Constituency since long, are much disturbed. SAGAR LAMA AND VISHAL RAI The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has been looking after the said area under the Highway Block Committee. The residents of the area foremostly dreamt of a separate State, Gorkhaland and secondly to have a Constituency of their own. Regarding the latter, the Committee after the GJM came into power had also gained 100% assurance from all the Administrative Officers of the Block Office, Sub Division Office and even from the Morcha President and the MLAs. 

The Draft prepared by the Morcha had mentioned about allotment of 45 numbers of seats under each 45 seats and formation of a separate Constituency for the NH 31A area. The people of this area were satisfied with this Draft but after the topic came under highlight not only were their dreams were shattered but they complain of being by including them with 5- 7 various areas. After this decision was flashed out in the newspapers, all the heads of the Morcha workers of the of the highway area called on an immediate meeting at the Chittrey Tourist Lodge today. The meeting under the Presidentship of the Lohapool Branch President, DB Gurung was attended by all the Presidents and Secretaries of the Morcha Branches and Sub Branches from Kali Jhora, Rambi, Lohapool, Teesta, Melli, Tar Khola etc. The main topic of discussion being the demarcation of seats, they whined that they have been heavily betrayed. Further, it was decided that in order to make the highway area a separate Constituency they will do the utmost and also conduct extreme ways like indefinite hunger strikes and self immolations if needed. During the initiation of the Gorkhaland agitation the NH 31A served as a weapon shutting down the neighbouring State, Sikkim and putting the Central Government on high alert. The people of the area who still visit the Kalimpong Court regularly for the hearing sessions for supporting the agitation, now feel let down. The President of the Highway Block Committee, Sagar Lama addressing the media after the meeting informed that 90% of the NH 31A comes under the Kalimpong Sub Division. Before Kalimpong was allotted 12 seats and after the inclusion of the highway it was 13 seats, but after the notice has been issued the highway area is lost somewhere for it has been divided into various parts, he complained. 

The Committee has now decided to give an ultimatum to the Administration until Wednesday starting from tomorrow (i.e. May 28, 2012). The Committee within these 3 days will be putting forward their grievances to all the Block Development Office, Sub Divisional Office and District Collector’s Office. If their demands are not met within the said days then, the public of the highway area will come out in the streets and will demonstrated rallies, Dharnas, Bandhs, self sacrifices, hunger strikes etc., warned the President. Likewise, the Highway Yuva Morcha President, Bishal Rai also condemning the notice stated that much injustice is done to them. The notice is against the economical, social and political development of the area, asserted Rai. Further, countering the time given by the Government for June 02 for time revision, Rai said that instead they are giving time to the Government until May 30 to make the highway a separate Constituency. If the demand is not fulfilled then all the people of the highway area will start on an insurgency for which the Administration will be answerable, he warned. Rai, recommending the GJM Central Committee to take this issue seriously cautioned that the highway shall blare if their necessary need is not fulfilled and the Morcha shall to be responsible for it. He also mentioned that all the Morcha office bearers of the highway branches and sub branches will also put forward their resignation if their issue is left unattended. Lastly, Rai appealed all the highway residents to be ready for this ‘soon to be’ agitation. “Being in a democratic country we shall also conduct our agitation the democratic way”, he concluded. Deeply affected by the notice the highway locals claim that their area fulfills all the criteria of becoming a separate Constituency. “Though all the paper works regarding the same has been completed, we have been betrayed by few of our own leaders”, they complained. They also alleged that the politicians are eyeing on the Hydel and Railway Project for their own vested needs.

All eyes on the High Power Committee meeting on May 29

 Kalimpong, May 26 DR.H.B CHETTRI Just before the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) elections, all eyes are on the High Power Committee meeting for the inclusion of Terai-Dooars, slated on 29 May. The High Power Committee has been referring as per the 2001 census but on the other hand the GJM has demanded to refer the 2011 censes reports for the inclusion of the Terai-Dooars. The GJM spokesperson also the MLA Kalimpong Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri today said how the government does not have the 2011 census reports. “We will definitely question them on the upcoming meeting on the non-availability of the 2011 census reports” said Dr. Chettri. Remarking about the possibility of the GTA election Dr Chettri said that the election will be conducted on June as they have already signed the GTA pact. 

The High Power Committee’s declaration should not be biased and abstract because we have surveyed first and demanded of concerning 396 moujas of the Terai-Dooars. He also said condemned the rumors that Justice Samel Sen has a hand in the High Power Committee reports and the decreased moujas of the Terai-Dooars for the inclusion. Informing on the panchayat election he said that there is a dire necessary for the delimitation of area of the panchayats and the increment of the 112 panchayats in the hills. This is why the GJM is supporting for the GTA election said Dr Chettri. Commenting on the approaching of the Trinamool Congress in the hills, Dr Chettri said that, every party has the right to contest elections from everywhere in the country. The hills already have the National Congress, BJP, CPRM etc and the time will tell whether the people of the hills support the Trinamool or not, the GJM has its own public. Dr Chettri also assured that within 15th June the High Power Committee can produce its reports.

Kalimpong admin to submits developmental plans to NHPC and Railway

 MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, May 26 A meeting between the sub-divisional officer, Kalimpong MLA, NHPC and the Railway was held at the sub-divisional office in Kalimpong today. KALIMPONG S.D.O L.N. SHERPA Informing about the first meeting with the NHPC, the sub divisional officer LN Sherpa said that a total of 22 developmental projects have been completed in different areas and some are on the verge of completion. Most of the works have been done at Surak Samthar said Sherpa. The administration has also handed over a memorandum to the NHPC following the restoration of drinking water in different places, road constructions, 

electricity to the remotest village, renovation of the roads and a construction of bridge at Rally river. He also said that they will be meeting the NHPC general manager for the discussion of the resolution passed and the beautification of the Main road. Informing on the second meeting with the IRCON company representatives, Sherpa said that the meeting was concerning the development along the areas of the railway line. IRCON company has received the tender of Rs 6000 crs for the construction of the 42 kms long railway track from Sevoke to Rangpo which is said to be started in the end of this year. The schemes of the developments have the instigating of the solar lights along the NH31A and that of the Teesta bazar he said. The administration has also stressed on the construction of protection wall at Teesta area with the NHPC said Sherpa. The railway line shall have the station at Rambi, Teesta, Melli and in some other parts. Also present in the meeting MLA Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri said that the schemes will be made at the administrative level and submitted to the railway within ten days. Lepcha community conducts meeting for the LDC LDC should be permanent, equipped system with rigid laws-LS Tamsang

 MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, May 26 Thousands of the Lepcha community today conducted rally in Kalimpong town concerning the implementation of the Lepcha Development Council (LDC). The State government is on the verge of implementing the LDC this June. The Lepcha Rights Movement, president LS Tamsang said that the LDC should be well equipped system permanent and has to have capsulated laws. The Act for the LDC should function for a long run and the laws should not be flexible said Tamsang. The association has also demanded for the implementation of Lepcha subjects at the primary level simultaneously with the implementation of the LDC, which was not possible due to some reason this session he added. Following the above demands the association today submitted a memorandum to the deputy collectorate TN Sherpa. Huge rally was present during the presentation of the memorandum, the rally than moved to Damber Chowk and dissolve into a meeting. The speakers addressing the meeting said that the Lepchas belong to the primitive tribal population in the hills who are still on the 19th century, the LDC which is a medium for the upliftment of the community should posses rigid laws. पहाड़का विपक्षीहरूको तृणमूल गमनको हल्ला सत्ता मोह कि सुरक्षा चासो?

 अनिकालमा बीउ र हुलमूलमा जीउ जोगाउनु भन्ने उखान जस्तै वर्तमान पहाड़को राजनीतिमा दल परिवर्तनको तातो हावा निकै तेज बहन थालेको छ। यो दल परिवर्तनको लहर जीउ जोगाउने हो या बीउ जोगाउलाई मात्रै हो यसको लेखा जोखा पछिबाटै होला तर गोरामुमो नेता राजेन मुखिया, यूजीआरएफ नेता अजय दाहाल, पूर्व मोर्चा नेता विशाल छेत्री , जीएलओ प्रमुखका छोरा सन्तोष सुब्बा मात्र होइन गोरामुमो, गोजमुमो, गोर्खालिग, सीपीआई अनि क्रामाकपाबाट पनि तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा जानसक्ने संकेत पाइएको छ। गोर्खालिगको युवा सङ्गठन तरुण गोर्खा केन्द्रिय समिति अध्यक्ष छेवाङ भोटियाले गोर्खालिगमा राजिनामा लेखेर तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा जाने निश्चित भइसकेको छ। उनले आफू संगै अन्य थुप्रै युवाहरू तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा सामेल हुने जनाएका छन्‌। जसमा वर्तमान पहाड़का शक्तिशाली दल गोजमुमोबाट पनि केही युवाहरू रहेको उनले खुलासा गरेका छन्‌। यता पानीघट्टाका राजेन मुखिया अनुसार तृणमूलमा जाने सम्बन्धमा अन्य पार्टीका प्रतिनिधिहरूसित पनि कुराकानी भइरहेको छ। 

तिनले लिएका पार्टीका नामहरूमा गोर्खालीग, क्रामाकपा, गोरामुमो, गोजमुमो अनि सीपीआई रहेको छ। राजेन मुखिया अनुसार तिनको कुराकानी अजय दाहालसित पनि भइरहेको छ। मुखियाले सुरक्षाको सवाल अहिले उनीहरूको निम्ति गम्भीर रहेको बताएका छन्‌। तिनी अनुसार पहाडको बलियो दल गोर्खा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा गणतान्त्रिक नरहेकोले विपक्षमा रहने कोही पनि सुरक्षित छैनन्‌। यस्तो स्थितिमा छुट्टै राज्यको कुरा गर्नेहरूलाई नै उल्टो छुट्टै राज्यको विरोधी बनाउने मात्र होइन उनीहरूको सुरक्षामा पनि खतरा भइरहेको उनले बताए। गोरामुमोका निर्वासित नेताहरू पनि तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा जाने चलिरहेको हल्लाबारे प्रश्न गर्दा तिनले भने, सबैलाई राजनीति गर्ने हक छ तर राजनीति गर्दा निर्वासित हुनुपरिरहेका छन्‌। निर्वासित हुनु भनेको असुरक्षित हुनु हो। निर्वासितहरू सबै पहाड आउन पाउनुपर्छ। गोरामुमो मात्र होइन पहाडका धेरै राजनैतिक पार्टीका नेताहरू तृणमूलमा आउनेछन्‌। यसबारे कुराकानी भइसकेको छ। अहिले नै सबै कुरा खुलासा गर्न नमिल्ने उनी बताउछन्‌। यता राजेन मुखियाले यूजीआरएफ नेता अजय दाहालसित पनि तृणमूलमा लाग्ने सम्बन्धमा कुराकानी भइरहेको बताए पनि अजय दाहालले भने यस सम्बन्धमा आफूलाई केही थाहा नभएको बताएका छन्‌। तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा लाग्ने कुरा हल्ला मात्र हो। दाहाल भन्छन्‌- मलाई केही थाहा छैन। न त मसित तृणमूलको कुनै नेताले नै सम्पर्क गरेको छ न त फोन नै गरेको छ। तृणमूलमा जाने सम्बन्धमा मैले केही सोंचेको छुइँन। तिनले आन्तरिक रुपले आफ्नो सङ्गठनले छुट्टै राज्यको आन्दोलन निम्ति तयार पारिएको खाका सम्बन्धमा चर्चा चलिरहेको कुरा भने स्वीकार गरे।

 तिनी तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा लाग्ने नलाग्ने सम्बन्धमा कुरा गर्न अनिवार्य नरहेको मान्छन्‌। यद्यपि राजेन मुखिया भने दहालसित आफ्नो सम्पर्क भइरहेको बताउँछन्‌। यसबाट पनि दाहाल पनि विचार गर्ने स्थितिमा पुगेको हुनसक्ने बुझिएको छ। कालेबुङमा बसमा भएको स्टोभ बम काण्डदेखि अचानक चर्चामा आएका छत्र सुब्बाका छोरा सन्तोष सुब्बा पनि तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा आउने हल्ला चलिरहेको छ। तृणमूल कंग्रेसमा जानेहरूको नाममा छत्र सुब्बाको पनि नाम उठिरहेको छ। तर छत्र सुब्बा यस विषयलाई लिएर मौन छन्‌। तिनले अघि नै आन्दोलन र राजनीति नै छोडेको घोषणा गरिसकेका छन्‌। तृणमूलमा जानेे बारे तिनी मौन छन्‌। यस सम्बन्धमा प्रश्न गर्दा सन्तोष सुब्बाले भने, अहिले नै यसबारे कुरा गर्न ठीक हुँदैन। समय आएपछि सबै कुरा बताउने नैै हो। म बोल्न चहान्न। तिनको जवाबले पनि तिनी तृणमूलमा जाने सम्बन्धमा तृणमूलका नेताहरूसित सम्पर्कमा हुन सक्ने छनक भने पाइएको छ। किनभने तिनले तृणमूलमा जाने सम्बन्धमा लचिलो प्रतिक्रिया गरेका छन्‌। छापामा आएअनुसार गोरामुमोका निर्वासित नेताहरू पनि तृणमूलमा आइरहेका छन्‌। किनभने उनीहरू राजनैतिक सुरक्षा चहान्छन्‌। राजेन मुखियाले दिएको संकेत अनुसार पनि गोरामुमोका निर्वासित नेताहरू तृणमूलमा आउन सक्छन्‌। निर्वासित जीवन बिताइरहेका गोरामुमो नेता मौरिस कालिकोटेसित सम्पर्क गर्दा तिनले गोरामुमोका निर्वासित नेताहरू तृणमूलमा पस्ने कुरालाई ठाडै नकारेका छन्‌। कालिकोटेले भने, जो-जसलाई थांग्रा चाहिन्छ उनीहरू जान सक्छन्‌। तर गोराममोका निर्वासित नेताहरूलाई लिएर जुन अफवाह फैलाइएको छ, यो भने ठीक कुरा होइन। किनभने गोरामुमोलाई पहाड चढ्‌न कसैको थांग्रा चाहिन्न। यता गोरामुमो नेता प्रकाश दाहालले पनि तृणमूलमा जाने कुरा अफवाह मात्र रहेको जनाएका छन्‌। यसरी तृणमूलमा पस्ने हल्लालाई धेरैले हल्ला मात्रै हो भनेर उम्कन खोजे पनि हावा नआई पात हल्लँदैन भन्ने उखान जस्तै दल परिर्वतनको तातो हावा भने भित्र भित्रै चलिरहेको विज्ञहरू ठान्छन्‌।

इन्टिग्रेटेड हाउजिङ स्लम डेभलोपमेन्ट प्रोजेक्ट –नगरपालिकाले दियो स्पष्टिकरण घोटला होइन, कार्यशैलीमा समस्या

 कालेबुङ, 25मई। इन्टिग्रेटेड हाउजिङ स्लम डेभलोपमेन्ट प्रोजेक्ट अनुसार कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले बनाइरहेको बीपीएल परिवारका घरले नयॉं विवाद खडा गरेको छ। योजना अनुसार 567 वटा घर बनाउनको निम्ति 6 करोड 37 लाख 87 हजार अनि पॉंच सय अनुमोदित छ। घरवरिपरिका अन्य संरचनाको निम्ति अलग्गै 5 करोड अनुमोदित छ। यो योजना 2008 को हो। योजना अनुसार एउटा घर 1 लाख 12 हजार 5 सयमा बनिन्छ। यसको निम्ति एक बीपीएल परिवारले 20 हजार 5 सय रुपियॉं बुझाउनुपर्ने हुन्छ। तब मात्र घर बनिन्छ। 2009 मा बीपीएल परिवारले 20 हजार 5 सय बुझाउन नसक्ने भएपछि नगरपालिका ग्यारेन्टर बसेर उक्त राशि स्टेट ब्याङले ऋृणकोरुपमा दिने सम्झौता भएको थियो। घर बनाउने बीपीएल परिवारको ब्याङ्‌क खाता पनि खोलियो। उनीहरूको बीमा पनि ब्याङ्‌कले शुरु गर्‍यो। तर 2012 सम्म नै ब्याङ्‌कले ऋृण दिएन। ऋृण बिना नै घर भने बनिन शुरु भयो। घर आधाकल्चो बनिसक्दा अचानक नगरपालिकाले लाभार्थीहरूलाई ऋृण तिर्नुपर्ने नोटिश पठायो। ब्याङ्‌कले ऋृण नदिइ नगरपालिकाले लाभार्थीहरूलाई ऋृण तिर्नुपर्ने नोटिश पठाएपछि माकपा नेता तारा सुन्दासले यसमा घोर आपत्ति जनाएका थिए। 

आज नगराध्यक्ष एलबी परियार अनि नगरपालिका कार्यकारी सह अभियन्ता इन्द्रप्रसाद भण्डारीले सुन्दासको आपत्तिमाथि स्पष्टिकरण दिए। उनीहरू अनुसार ब्याङ्‌कले ऋृण दिने बचन पुरा नगरेकोले नै यो समस्या उत्पन्न भएको हो। भण्डारीले भने, कुरा भए अनुसार व्याङ्‌कले ऋृण दिएन। यता घर बनिन थालेको थियो। सरकारलाई घर बनिएको रिपोर्ट बुझाए मात्र योजनाको निम्ति पूरा राशि आउने तय थियो। यस कारण गर बनाउनको निम्ति इन्फ्रास्टक्चरको निम्ति आएको पैसा हामीले घर बनाउनमा खर्च गर्‍यौं। इन्फ्रास्टक्चर (बिजुली, नाली, फुटपात आदि)को राशि घर बनाउनमा खर्च भएकोले लाभार्थीहरूले बुझाउनुपर्ने राशि बुझाउने नोटिश पठाएका हौं। तिनी अनुसार लाभार्थीहरूले नै अहिले तिर्नुपर्ने राशि तिर्न शुरु गरेका छन्‌। उनीहरूको निम्ति एक्सिस व्याङ्‌कमा खाता खोलिएको छ। त्यहीँ अहिलेसम्म लाभार्थीहरूले 3 लाख भन्दा धेर राशि जमा गरिसकेका छन्‌। मोठ 80 जनाले किस्तिमा राशि बुझाइसकेका छन्‌ भने अब 487 जनाले बुझाउनुपर्ने भएको छ। जम्मै समस्या स्टेट व्याङ्‌कले समयमा ऋृण नदिएकोले उत्पन्न भएको नगराध्यक्ष एलबी परियार अनि अभियन्ता भण्डारीले बताए पनि व्याङ्‌कका मुख्य प्रबन्धक केआर सिन्हाले भने नगरपालिकाले नै कुनै सम्पर्क नगरेको खुलाएका छन्‌। सिन्हा अनुसार नगरपालिकाले घर नबनाई व्याङ्‌कले ऋृण दिन सक्दैन। यसकारण 21 सितम्बर 2011 मा नै व्याङ्‌कले नगरपालिकालाई ऋृण सम्बन्धी पत्रचार गरेको हो। तर नगरपालिकाले यसको कुनै जवाब दिएन। सिन्हाले भने, व्याङ्‌क जहिल्यै पनि ऋृण दिन तयार थियो, नगरपालिकाले नै कुनै सम्पर्क नगरेकोले ऋृण दिन सकिएन।

 घर नबनाई ऋृण दिन पनि सकिएन। ऋृण दियो तर घर बनिएको छैन भने लाभार्थीहरूले आपत्ति जनाउँछन्‌। यसकारण पुरा नियम अनुसार नै ऋृण दिन सकिन्छ। व्याङ्‌कको कारण समस्या उत्पन्न भयो भन्नु आधारहिन आरोप हो। नगरापलिकाले यता ऋृण नलिएर इन्फ्रास्टक्चरको निम्ति आएको राशि घर बनाउनमा प्रयोग गरेको बताएको छ। इन्फ्रास्टक्चरको पैसा घर बनाउनमा प्रयोग गरेको हो भने के प्रत्येक घरको फुटपात, बिजुली इत्यादी बनाउने खर्च कहॉंबाट ल्याइन्छ त भन्ने प्रश्न गर्दा त्यसैको निम्ति लाभार्थीहरूलाई उनीहरूले तिर्नुपर्ने राशि तिर्न भनेर वार्ड पार्षदहरूले निर्देश दिएको बताएको छ। तर अन्योलता कहॉं देखापरेको छ भने लाभार्थीहरूलाई नगरपालिकाले स्टेट व्याङकसित भएको सम्झौता खारेज भएको थाहा छैन। अधिकांश लाभार्थीहरूलाई पनि एस्किस व्याङ्‌कमा नगरपालिकाले खोलेको व्याङ्‌क खातामा पैसा बझाउनुपर्छ भनेर पनि थाहा छैन। तर अभियन्ता भण्डारीले नगरपार्षदहरू मार्फत लाभार्थीहरूलाई खबर गरिएको बताएका छन्‌। भण्डारीले के स्वीकारेका छन्‌ भने इन्फ्रास्टक्चरको पैसा घर बनाउनमा प्रयोग गरिएकोले घर पूर्ण भइसक्दा धेरैवटा समस्याहरू आउन सक्छन्‌। योजना अनुसार घरसित नै बाटोघाटो, विजुली इत्यादीको काम पनि गर्नुपर्छ। त्यो कसरी बनाउने हो अहिले नै स्पष्ट छैन। यसकारण परियारले लाभार्थीहरूले पैसा बुझाए समस्या समाधान हुनसक्ने बताएका छन्‌। तिनले घर बनाउने काममा घोटला होइन कतिपय कार्य शैलीमा समस्या रहेको पनि स्पष्ट पारेका छन्‌।   rongotimes.....

Trinamool Congress, a burning topic in the hills in recent times ‘Trinamool trying to bring regional politicians under its banner is unethical’- Col Aaley

 MUKESH SHARMA: Trinamool Congress has become the talk of the town much lately for deciding to hold a mass meeting in Kalimpong and also with the rumors of making the politicians of various parties in the hills to join hands with them. If not for all this has proved to be a major topic of concern for the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GTA) and its fellow supporters and other Morcha parties under its banner. COL.RAMESH ALLAY Commenting on the same the Indian Gorkha Ex- Army and Para Military Morcha President, Col Ramesh Aaley complained that it is unethical from Trinamool’s side in working towards expanding their party in the hills by trying to bring the politicians from various regional parties under their banner. What is the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee trying to prove by saying that she will be granting Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) in one hand and in the other by delivering slogans like ‘Bang Bhang Hobena’? Aaley questioned. Whether Mamata’s Trinamool of Buddhadeb’s Left Front, none of the State parties which came to power have delivered a positive response for Gorkhaland, he stated. 

Saying that the Morcha Chief, Bimal Gurung’s one and only aim is to attain Gorkhaland, the President asserted that people should understand that Morcha’s agitation and GTA treaty cannot be compared to Subash Ghising’s Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) agitation and agreements. Advising the public to imbibe the feeling of sacrifice, he added that, the unity and the sacrifice of the people and the ancestors since the past 107 years have kept the Gorkhaland movement in momentum. Unity among us is the utmost need right at the moment, he underlined. Further, mentioning the role of the Gorkhas this Ex- Army said that before independence the Gorkha soldiers made immense contribution for making the Bengal region gain republic. But now the Gorkhas are faced with challenges of being tagged as foreigners and immigrants by the people of the said region. Lastly, acquainting about the Gorkhaland Personnel (GLP) recruitment under GTA he said that 100 people have been recruited and divided into 2 groups of 50 each and are being trained for civil defense. The will and aim of the Army Morcha too is Gorkhaland and we want more support from the youths and workers, he concluded.

ABAVP threatens stir if Sen Committee fails to expand GTA

 DARJEELING, : Mr John Barla says his pro-GJMM faction of the ABAVP will go for a vigorous agitation if the Shymal Sen Committee fails to support the expansion of the GTA's territory. 

 The high-power committee chaired by retired justice Shymal Sen is likely to submit its report to the state government early next month. The stir-decision came out following a meeting of the Barla-led Joint Action Coordination Committee (JACC) and the GJMM's central committee at Darjeeling Gymkhana Hall this morning. Speaking after the meeting, Mr Barla said his group was waiting for the report. "If the report goes against the long-standing land demand being raised by a majority section of the Adivasi people inhabiting the Terai-Dooars region, we would go for a vigorous movement," he said. In a warning to the state government, the Adivasi leader said the region would go up in flames if the report runs roughshod over Adivasi sentiment about the land demand. "If the Mamata Banerjee government wants enduring peace and to avoid tension in the region, it must ensure that the report is accordance with what the JACC has been demanding. The alternative is chaos and disorder," Mr Barla said. GJMM general secretary Roshan Giri, however, said peace would prevail in the Hills irrespective of the contents of the report. "We are for development and peace in the long-restless Hills," he said after the meeting.

Rumors of regional politicians to join Trinamool stir buzz in the hills

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG,: When the State Trinamool Congress Party is much under the scanner in the hills for conducting simultaneous secret meetings in various places for their Party to go constantly strong throughout, the Kalimpong town now remains anxious of which politician from the hills will join the Trinamool Congress. The United Gorkha Revolutionary Front (UGRF) Chief Ajay Dahal, Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL) politician Chewang Bhutia and Santosh Subba, the son of Gorkha Liberation Organization (GLO) Head Chattrey Subba has become the talk of the town much lately with the rumors of them deciding to join the Trinamool. Clarifying the doubts regarding the same, Chewang Bhutia the President of ABGL’s Yuva Morcha also called as Tarun Morcha today clearly signaled his decision of joining the Congress by resigning from his post from Tarun Morcha. Speaking on the same, Bhutia said that he is now fed up with the political condition of the hills. Instead of democracy, there is violence and corruption in the hills, he whined.

 Bhutia who has served the ABGL dedicatedly for the past 12 years said that he has no hard feelings for ABGL; instead his all time favourite leader remains slain Madan Tamang who sacrificed his life for Gorkhaland. Accepting the rumors of him trying the join Trinamool as true, Bhutia mentioned that he has met with the Trinamool’s politicians twice regarding the same. Along with him, 5000 youths are also favouring to join the Congress, mentioned Bhutia. Likewise, Bhutia, now a former Tarun Gorkha President notified that the Vice President of Tarun Gorkha Sub Divisional Branch, Chattra Gurung has also resigned from the Party, but he has not yet informed that which Party he will be joining. Further, stating that many of the Morcha workers are also in contact with him, Bhutia said that 95% of the public are ready to be under the West Bengal Government jurisdiction. Standing his grounds on not quitting from politics, he stated that whatever political downfalls he has faced in his life, he shall make them his main strength. “Late Madan Tamang always worked towards joint leadership, and I too had the same dream. But this is not at all possible in the hills for the politicians of the regional parties here have much ego and they have greed for the supreme chair. Hence, I shall never opt to form my own regional party”, asserted Bhutia. Unlike Bhutia, the UGRF President Ajay Dahal and GLO front man, Chattrey Subba’s son, Santosh Subba delivered no comments on them joining the Congress. Instead Dahal said that he is not at all aware of how his name is all over the air regarding the same. Similarly, the former Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) politician of Panihatta, Rajen Mukhia said that if the Trinamool politicians talks to him about joining their Party, then he will give a second thought to it. Leaving aside Trinamool many other political Parties have also approached him to join them, added Mukhia.

Political parties vouching for Gorkhaland should demand more vigorously, recommends Pakhrin

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, May 24: Giving the example of the Bodo Territorial Council and Telengana vigorously demanding a separate State, the Gorkha Rajya Nirman Morcha (GRNM) President, Dawa Pakhrin asserted that it’s high time that the political parties who seek for Gorkhaland should also gear up and voice more strongly for their demand. Along with the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), the GRNM will also conduct various programmes in support of Gorkhaland, he mentioned. Quoting the lines of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ‘Bang Bhang Hobena’, 

Pakhrin said that any Bengali CM would say that, but it is our duty to fight for our right which is Gorkhaland without being de motivated by the CM’s quote. Further he said that after 48 talks and discussion during the Gorkha National Liberation Front’s (GNLF) agitation the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) was formed and recently during the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s (GJM) agitation GTA is the outcome after 11 talks, hence people should not be disheartened of Gorkhaland not being formed, instead they should remain patient. Stating that formation of Gorkhaland is definitely possible, Pakhrin appealed the public to be ready for it and the agitation will fully be democratic. All those who are asking for a separate State should come together and work for their cause, recommended the President. “Whole of the country should be involved”, he stated. Lastly saying that 42% of the Indian population vouches for a separate State of their own, Pakhrin said that Darjeeling hills are partiality excluded region of West Bengal. “We should focus about Gorkhaland right now instead of GTA elections”, he concluded. The GRNM will also conduct talks with Gorkhaland Task Force (GTF) regarding the elections.
