Lepcha community conducts meeting for the LDC LDC should be permanent, equipped system with rigid laws-LS Tamsang

 MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, May 26 Thousands of the Lepcha community today conducted rally in Kalimpong town concerning the implementation of the Lepcha Development Council (LDC). The State government is on the verge of implementing the LDC this June. The Lepcha Rights Movement, president LS Tamsang said that the LDC should be well equipped system permanent and has to have capsulated laws. The Act for the LDC should function for a long run and the laws should not be flexible said Tamsang. The association has also demanded for the implementation of Lepcha subjects at the primary level simultaneously with the implementation of the LDC, which was not possible due to some reason this session he added. Following the above demands the association today submitted a memorandum to the deputy collectorate TN Sherpa. Huge rally was present during the presentation of the memorandum, the rally than moved to Damber Chowk and dissolve into a meeting. The speakers addressing the meeting said that the Lepchas belong to the primitive tribal population in the hills who are still on the 19th century, the LDC which is a medium for the upliftment of the community should posses rigid laws. The similar meeting will be at Siliguri, Kurseong after Kalimpong and Darjeeling is learnt
