मङ्पूमा कथाकार उदय थुलुङ अनि कवि मनोज बोगटीलाई सम्मान

डी के वाइबा, मङपू 30 मार्च। कथा संग्रह ‘एकान्तवास’को निम्ति नेपाली साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारले सम्मानित कथाकार उदय थुलुङ अनि ‘घाउका रङहरु’ कविता कृतिको निम्ति युवा साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार पुरस्कारले सम्मानित कवि मनोज बोगटीलाई आज मङपूमा अभ्यर्थना जनाईयो। श्री सत्य साई सेवा संगठन मङ्पूको आयोजनामा साई निलयममा सम्पन्न अभ्यर्थना एंव काव्यञ्जली कार्यक्रममा कथाकार उदय थुलुङ अनि कवि मनोज बोगटीलई सम्मान जनाउँने कार्य भएको थियो।

 प्रणव मन्त्रोच्चारण गरेर शुरु भएको कार्यकरममा मुख्य अतिथिका रुपमा श्री सत्य साई सेवा संगठनका पूर्व राज्य समन्वयक विवेक केशर पाण्डे उपस्थित रहेका थिए। कार्यक्रमको पूर्वार्द्धमा अध्यात्मिक कार्य सम्पन्न भयो भने यस अवसरमा मुख्य अतिथि विवेक केशर पाण्डेले अध्यात्मिक वार्ता राखे। तिनले सम्बोधन गर्दै अध्यात्म अनि साहित्य एकार्कको सम्पूरक रहेको बताए।

 कतिपय अध्यात्मिक ग्रन्थहरुको उदाहरण प्रस्तुत गर्दै वास्तवमा साहित्य नै अध्यात्मको निकट रहेको जनाए। साहित्यकै माध्यमबाट मानिसहरुले ईश्वरलई समेत नजीक पाउँन सक्ने बताउँदै साहित्य अनि अध्यात्मको गहिरो तालमेल रहेको विवेक केशर पाण्डेले जनाए। कार्यक्रमको दोस्रो चरणमा भने अभ्यर्थना कार्य सम्पन्न भयो। नेपाली साहित्यमा वर्ष 2012को नेपाली साहित्य पुरस्कार प्रापक कवि – कथाकार उदय थुलुङलाई मुख्य अथिति विवेक केशर पाण्डेको बाहुलीबाट प्रशस्ति पत्र, स्मृति चिन्ह तथा माल्यार्पण गरेर सम्मान गरियो। 

यस अवसरमा युवा साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारले सम्मानित कवि मनोज बोगटीलाई अघिबाटै साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारले सम्मानित कवि मोहन ठकुरीको बाहुलीबाट प्रशस्ति पत्र, स्मृति चिन्ह अनि माल्यार्पण गरेर सम्मान गरियो। यता कार्यक्रममा सम्मानित कथाकार उदय थुलुङले पुरस्कार पाउँदा अत्यन्तै हर्ष लागेको बताउँदै आफुले पुरस्कार पाउँदा यस वर्ष कही कतैबाट बिरोध तथा विवाद सृजना नभएकोमा धेर खुशी लागेको जनाए। 

आफुले पुरस्कार पाउँने घोषणा हुन साथै सबैतिरबाट साहित्यकारहरुले सन्तोष व्यक्त गर्दै बधाई दिएको बताउँदै पुरस्कारले जिम्मेवारी बृद्धि भएको पनि तिनले जनाए। यसै अवसरमा अर्का सम्मानित व्यक्ति कवि मनोज बोगटीले पुरस्कार पाउँदाको हर्ष व्यक्त गरे। आफुले यस पुरस्कार पाउँछु भन्ने नसोचेको समयमा पुरस्कार पाउँने खबर पाउँदा आफैलाई एकपल्ट विश्वास समेत नलागेको बताउँदै उक्त पुरस्कारले लेखन क्षेत्रमा अझ प्रोत्साहन जागेको बताए। यस अवसरमा काव्याञ्जली कार्यक्रम पनि सम्पन्न भयो। 

उक्त काव्याञ्जली कार्यक्रममा कवि मोहन ठकुरी, उदय थुलुङ, मनोज बोगटी, सुधीर छेत्री, देवलाल मोक्तान, सुरज रोसुरी आदिले कविता वाचन गरे। श्री सत्य साई सेवा संगठन मङ्पूमा सयोजक पप्पु पाण्डे अनि कवि मोहन ठकुरीले सञ्चालन गरेको कार्यक्रममा क्षेत्रे दायित्ववाहक प्रेमदिप राईले धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गरे।

कालेबुङका दुई युवा पत्रकारहरुलाई सम्बर्द्धना जनाईयो

 कालेबुङ, 28 मार्च। नेपाली साहित्य अकादमीको युवा अकादमी पुरस्कारले सम्मानित युवा कवि एंव पत्रकार मनोज बोगटी अनि सामाजिक कार्यमा गडफ्रे फिलिप्स ब्रेभरी अवार्डले सम्मानित कालेबुङका पत्रकार मनोज राईलाई बुधबार कालेबुङका श्रमजीवि पत्रकारहरुले सम्वर्द्धना जनायो। यहाँको दुख निवारक सम्मेलन भवनमा आयोजित कार्यक्रममा दुवै पुरस्कृत पत्रकारहरुलाई बधाई तथा अभिनन्दन चडाए। मनोज बोगटी अनि मनोज राई दुवै कालेबुङमा पत्रकारिता क्षेत्रमा संलग्न रहेको कारण श्रमजीवि पत्रकारहरुमा दुवैको कार्यले हर्ष छाएको छ। युवा दुई पत्रकारहरुको सम्मान सम्पूर्ण श्रमजीवि पत्रकारहरुकै सम्मान ठान्दै कार्यक्रमा सबैले सम्मानित दुईलाई खदा अर्पण गरेर सम्मान गरे। 

श्रमजीवि पत्रकारहरुको समूहको तर्फबाट दुवैलाई प्रशस्तीपत्र अनि स्मृति चिह्न प्रदान गरी बधाई अभिनन्दन जनाएको थियो। यस अवसरमा युवा साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारले सम्मानित मनोग बोगटीले पुरस्कार प्राप्त हुँदाको खुशी व्यक्त गर्दै यसमा सम्पूर्ण साथीहरुको सफलता हो भनि बताए। अर्कोतिर गडफ्रे फिलिप्स ब्रेभरी अवार्डले सम्मानित पत्रकार मनोज राईले भूईँचालो पिडीतहरुलाई सह्योग गर्न पाउँनु आफ्नो सौभाग्य ठान्दै उक्त कार्यको निम्ति प्राप्त सम्मानले जिम्मेवारी बृद्धि भएको बताए। तिनले उक्त सम्मानको निम्ति सबि साथीहरुको योगदान रहेको बताएका छन। समूहका संयोजक प्रदीप लोहागुणले सन्चालन गरेको यो कार्यक्रममा पत्रकारहरु भुवन खनाल, बिनय शङ्कर अनि अनिल तेलैजा,डीके वाइबाले पनि सम्बोधन गरेका थिए।

जीटीए प्रमुख बिमल गुरुङले सिन्कोना कारखाना निर्माणको आधारशिला राख्ने

डी के वाइबा, कालेबुङ 28 मार्च। दार्जीलिङ पहाडमा चिया पछि दोस्रो सर्वबृहत मानिने सिन्कोना उद्योगलाई बचाएर व्यवस्थित तरिकाले सञ्चालन गर्न जीटीएले कार्य अघि बडाएको छ। यसै क्रममा सन 1999 देखि अघोषित बन्द अवस्थामा रहेको मङ्पूको एकमात्र सिन्कोना कारखानालाई आधुनिकीकारण गरी जीटीएले पुन: निर्माण गर्ने भएको छ। पश्चिम बङ्गालको फूड प्रोसेसिङ एंव हर्टिकल्चर बिभागमा रहेको सिन्कोना उद्योग जीटीएको सम्झौता अनुरुप हस्तान्तरण भए पछि यसलाई पुन: उद्धार गरी अघि बडाउँन जीटीएले कार्य थाल्नी गरेको छ। 

दार्जीलिङ पहाडको दोस्रो सर्वबृहत उद्ध्योग सिन्कोनालाई बँचाएर व्यवस्थित तरिकाले सञ्चालन गर्न जीटीएले मङपूमा आगमी 3 अप्रेलको दिन सिन्कोना कारखानाको पुन: निर्माणको आधारशिला राख्ने भएको छ। सिन्कोना निदेशक डा जी सी सुब्बाले पत्रकार सम्मेलन डाकेर सिन्कोनावासी मानिसहरुले दिर्घ दिनदेखि बन्द कारखाना खोलिएर उत्पादन कार्य शुरु होस भनी चाहना राखिरहेको बताउँदै अब सम्पूर्ण मानिसहरुको चाहना पूर्ण हुने बताए।

“सिन्कोना कारखाना सञ्चालन नभएको कारण दिर्घ समय देखि सिन्कोना बगानका मानिसहरुले कारखाना खोल्नु पर्ने माग गर्दै आईरहेका थिए। यस बिषयमा पहिले बङगाल बिधानसभामा समेत कुरा उठेको थियो भने माकपा सरकारले बिधानसभामा सिन्कोना कारखाना निर्माण गर्ने घोषणा समेत भएको थियो। यद्यपी सरकारले उक्त घोषणा पुरा गरेन। आखिरमा जीटीएमा यो बिभाग हस्तानतरण भए पछि सम्झौता अनुरुप कारखाना निर्माण गर्ने भएको छ।

 उक्त निर्माणको निम्ति आगमी 3 अप्रेल 2013 को दिन जीटीए प्रमुख बिमल गुरुङले आधारशिला राख्नेछन” – सिन्कोना निर्देशक डा जी सी सुब्बाले भने। तिनले सिन्कोना कारखाना पूर्णरुपले निर्माण गर्न पचास कडोर भन्दा धेर खर्च लाग्ने भएको कारण उक्त निर्माण कार्य चरणबद्ध रुपमा गरिने पनि डा सुब्बाले जानकारी दिएका छन। उक्त दिन सिन्कोना बगानका मानिसहरुका निम्ति ऐतिहासिक दिन हुने बताउँदै सिन्कोना कारखाना सञ्चाल भए बागानमा खट्ने सम्पूर्ण मानिसहरुमा उर्जा मिल्ने पनि तिनले बताएका छन।

 “सन 1862 देखि सुरु भएको सिन्कोना खेती कारखाना सञ्चालन नभएर उत्पादन बन्द भएपछि सिंकोना उद्योग नै बन्द हुने मानिसहरुले सोंच्ने गरेका थिए। समय समयमा सरकारले पनि सिन्कोनालाई प्राईभेटाईज गर्ने कुराले अझ मानिसहरु त्रस्त बनेका थिए। तर अहिले जीटीएले कारखाना निर्माण गर्ने जुन ऐतिहासिक पहल गरिरहेको छ यसले सिन्कोनासंग जडीत मानिसहरुको मनमा निश्चय पनि सकारात्मक प्रभाव पार्नेछ” डा सुब्बाले भने। सिन्कोना कारखाना निर्माणको पहिलो चरणमा बोक्रा पिस्ने मेसिन अवस्थित गरेर उत्पादन कार्य थालिने अनि त्यस पछि उक्त पिसेका बोक्राबाट अझ अन्तिम रुपको दवाई निर्माणार्थ अन्य भागहरु निर्माण गरिने तिनले थप जानकारी दिएका छन। 

आफुहरुले सिन्कोनाबाट अन्तिम रुपसम्म कार्य गरी दवाई उत्पादन गर्न सके यसले आगमी दिनहरुमा मुनाफा दिने बताउँदै प्रथम चरणमा भने घाटाको मात्रलाई कम गर्ने कार्यमा सघाऊ पुग्ने जी सी सुब्बाले बताए। मानिसहरुले सिन्कोनाबाट केवल मलेरियाको दवाई मात्र बनिने सोच्ने गरेको बताउँदै वास्तवमा सिन्कोनाबाट मुटुको रोगीको निम्ति पनि एउटा महत्वपूर्ण दवाई निर्माण हुने तिनले बताए। आगमी दिनमा कारखाना निर्माण गरेर उक्त दवाईहरु उत्पादन हुन थालेपछि विश्वबजारमा बडीरहेको मागले यस उद्योगबाट बिभागले मुनाफा कमाउँन सकिने निदेशक डा जी सी सुब्बाले बताए।

 अर्कोतिर सिन्कोना बिभागका सभासद सामुएल गुरुङले बिगत दिनहरुमा सरकारको उदासिन नीतिको कारण सिंकोना उद्योग मराणसन्न अवस्थामा पुगेको बताउँदै अब जीटीएले यसलाई व्यवस्थित तरिकाले सञ्चालन गरेर अघि बडाउँने बताएका छन। “जीटीए कार्यकारी प्रमुख बिमल गुरुङले सिन्कोनालाई बँचाएर व्यवस्थित तरिकाले अघि बडाउँनुपर्छ भन्ने सोंच राखेका छन। त्यही सोंचको कारण कारखाना पुन: निर्माणको आधारशिला राखिने कार्य हुने भएको छ।

 सिन्कोना कारखाना निर्माण गर्नु जीटीएको महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि हो। यो एउटा ऐतिहासिक कार्य हुनेछ” सामुएल गुरुङले भने। पहिले बङगालमा माकपा सरकार हुँदा अनि दार्जीलिङ पहाडमा दागोपाप हुँदा सिन्कोनालाई बिकशित गर्ने कुनै पहल नगरेको आरोप लगाउँदै जीटीएले यसलाई बिकशित गरेर लानुको साथै उद्योग संगै पहाडको बिकाश समेत गर्ने तिनले थप बताए। सिन्कोना उद्योग संग पहाडमा मानिसहरु धेरै मात्रमा आश्रित रहेको कारण यसको बिकाश आवश्यक रहेको बताउँदै जीटीएले सिन्कोनाको बिकाश संगै पाहाडका मानिसहरुको आर्थिक मेरुदण्ड बलियो बनाउँने कार्य पनि गर्ने सभासद सामुएल गुरुङले बताए।

Morcha plans meets on GNLF day

TT; VIVEK CHHETRI; Darjeeling, March 28: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has decided to organise a series of public meetings across the hills on April 5 in an alleged move to throw a spanner in the foundation day celebration of the GNLF on the same day. Although Morcha leaders have denied that they have such intentions, this is not the first time that Bimal Gurung’s party is trying to foil its rivals’ programmes by holding its events.

 Priyabardan Rai, the general secretary of the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha, said: “As of now, we will be holding public meetings in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Mirik, Soureni and Panighatta (on April 5). We will be holding the party’s (youth front) meeting in a day or two to decide on more places where meetings could be held.” 

 The GNLF observes April 5 as its foundation day and this time, Ghisingh’s party has decided to organise a meeting at the Simulbari football grounds, near Sukna in the plains under GTA area, to mark the day. The GNLF was formed on April 5, 1980. Asked if the Morcha was trying to foil GNLF’s foundation day programme by holding meetings across the hills on the same day, Rai said: “Our party has been holding meetings in various (GTA) constituencies. The public meetings (on April 5) will be a culmination of these meetings and are not aimed at foiling any other party’s programme.” 

 The Morcha is, however, known to foil public meetings organised by its rivals. ABGL leader Madan Tamang was killed a by a mob allegedly consisting of Morcha people when he was about to address his supporters at a public meeting in Darjeeling’s Motor stand on May 21, 2010. Last year, the GNLF did not organise any big public meeting to mark its foundation day and held low key programmes across the hills. Given the low-key nature of the meetings, the Morcha did not attempt to foil GNLF’s plans last year. According to observers, the Morcha’s decision to organise a series of meetings across the hills is aimed at disrupting GNLF’s plan.

 “It is a a well-known ploy of the Morcha. When Morcha supporters are out on roads to hold meetings, GNLF members might feel intimidated and stay indoors,” said an observer. The idea of the ruling party foiling the rivals’ political programmes is not new in the hills. When Ghisingh’s party was in power, it frequently called strikes in the region to foil rival party’s public meetings. Although Morcha’s writ runs in the hills, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Ghisingh’s party got around 40,000 votes from across the region, which is more than what any rival bagged.

 GNLF leaders were hounded out of the hills after the Morcha was formed in 2007 and the party had been lying dormant ever since. But recently, the GNLF received a shot in the arm with around 200 Morcha supporters from Sukna, Pankhabari and Tindharia joining the party this month. On March 22, about 100 Morcha workers from Tindharia joined the GNLF. The previous week, an equal number of people had left the Morcha and joined the GNLF in the Sukna-Garidhura area. The GNLF had also claimed that it had formed a central committee in Jalpaiguri with members from the hills in an attempt to revive the party.

 The Ghisingh-led party had also said it had set up 700 village committees in the three hill subdivisions of Kalimpong, Kurseong and Darjeeling. Today, the GNLF leaders did not want to comment on Morcha’s plan to hold meetings across the hills on April 5. “We are ready with our preparations to mark the party’s foundation day,” said a GNLF leader who did not want to be named. Sources said the party was planning to mobilise 5,000-10,000 supporters for the programme.

सब्जि बिग्रन्छ झोलले पार्टी बिग्रन्छ पोलले – प्रविण रहपाल

 कालेबुङ 26 मार्च। गोरामुमो पार्टीको शाषण समाप्त गरी छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको नारा लिएर दार्जीलिङ पहाडमा जन्मेको नयाँ राज्नैतिक पार्टी गोजमुमो भित्र राजनैतिक उतारचडाव देखा परिरहेको छ। एकातिर पार्टीका सदस्यहरु राजीनामा दिएर तृणमूल कङ्ग्रेस अनि पुन: गोरामुमो पार्टी तिर नै फर्किरहेका छन भने अर्कोतिर अन्य पार्टीबाट मोर्चामा सामेल हुने क्रम पनि जारी रहेको छ। यसै राजनैतिक उतार चडावहरुमा गोजमुमो पार्टीको स्थपनाकाल देखि आन्दोलनमा लागीपरेका गोजमुमो पूर्व केन्द्रिय समिति सदस्य प्रवीण रहपाललाई आखिरमा मोर्चाले पार्टीको साधरण सदस्यबाट समेत निश्कासित गरेको छ।

 तिनलाई पार्टीबाट निश्कासित गरे पछी कतै मोर्चाको पार्टीबाट कतिपय सदस्यहरुलाई निश्कासित गर्ने क्रम जारी हुने त होईन भन्ने प्रश्न गम्भिर बनेको छ। किन भने नजिकको सुत्र अनुसार गोजमुमो पार्टीको स्थपनाकालदेखि पार्टीमा खटेका कतिपय मोर्चा नेताहरु अहिलेघरी पार्टीको क्रियाकलाप देखि टाडा रहेको कारण त्यस्ता नेताहरुलाई समेत पार्टीबाट निश्कासित गर्नसक्ने सम्भावना रहेको सुत्रले जनाएको छ। यता पार्टीबाट निश्कासित भएपछि गोजमुमो पार्टीका पूर्व केन्द्रिय समिति सदस्य प्रविण रहपालले पत्रकार सम्मेलन डाकेर आफ्नो पक्षबाट स्पष्टिकरण दिएका छन।

 “आज मलाई कुनै कारण नमागी पार्टीबाट निष्कासन गर्योड। मलाई यसमा कुनै दुःख लागेन। तर एउटा जिम्मेवार पार्टीले आफ्नो संविधानको पालन नगरी एक कार्यकर्तालाई जुनरुपले निष्कासन गर्योन यो भने ठीक लागेन” प्रवीण रहपालले प्रेस द मिटमा पत्रकारहरूलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै भने। कुनै कारण बताऊ नोटिस समेत नदिई पार्टीबाट निश्कासित गारेका प्रविण रहपालले पत्रकारहरुलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै गोजमुमो अध्यक्ष बिमल गुरुङलाई तेस्रो चरणको आन्दोलन सफल पार्ने सुभकामना समेत दिए। तिनले पार्टीबाट आफुलाई निश्कासन गरेको पत्र प्राप्त भएको पुष्टि गर्दै पार्टीले आफ्नो पक्ष राख्ने मौका समेत नदिएकोमा गुनासो पोखे।

 “मलाई धेरै कुरा भन्नु थियो तर सोधिएन। कुनै दिन मौका पाए अवश्य भन्नेछु” रहपलले भने। ‘म विमल गुरूङलाई यति मात्र भन्छु कि तर्कारी बिग्रन्छ झोलले पार्टी बिग्रन्छ पोलले’ प्रविण रहपालले सुझाव दिदै भने। तिनले पार्टीबाट राजीनाम दिने सोंच बनाएको बताउँदै उक्त कुरा थाह पाएर अहिलेको परिस्थितिमा राजीनामा गलत प्रभाव पर्नसक्ने सोचेर नै पार्टीले निशासन गरेको हुनसक्ने तिनले बताए। आफुलाई मोर्चाले स्थापित नगरेको दाबी गर्दै गोरामुमोको जगजगीमा नगरपालिका चुनाउ जितेको समेत तिनले बताए।

 आफुलाई मोर्चाले पार्टीबाट निकाल्दा ठूलो गल्ति हो भन्दै यस्तो गल्ती विमल गुरूङले फेरि दोहोर्यााउनु हुँदैनलाई कालेबुङबाट दार्जीलिङ पुर्यानउँने व्यक्ति आफुरहेको दाबी गर्दै विश्वास नभए पुरानो क्यासेट हेर्नु भनि सुझाव समेत दिए। अर्कोतिर मोर्चा केन्द्रिय सहसचिव विनय तामङले रहपाल पार्टीप्रति निष्क्रिय रहेको अनि तिनको कतिपय गतिविधी पार्टीलाई हामी पुग्ने भएकोले नै तिनलाई पार्टी बाहिर गरिएको बताएका छन्‌।

त्रीपक्षिय सम्झौता अनुरुप जीटीए सञ्चालन नभएको कारण मुद्दा दर्ता गरिएको हो – बिनय तामङ

 डी के वाइबा, कालेबुङ,26 मार्च: छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको मागमा 44 महिने चलेको आन्दोलनले ल्याएको जीटीए अहिले मोर्चालाई ‘भीरको चिण्डो’ सरह बनेको छ। त्रीपक्षिय सम्झौता अनुरुप जीटीएको सञ्चालन हुन नसकेको कारण उक्त व्यवस्था मोर्चालाई झमेलाको पोका सरह नै बनेको छ। केन्द्र सरकार, राज्य सरकार अनि गोजमुमो माझ सम्झौता भएको जीटीए आखिरमा सम्झौता भएको लामो समय सम्म पनि व्य्वस्थित तरिकाले सञ्चालन हुन नसक्दा आखिरमा जीटीए थाप्ने दल मोर्चाले राज्य सरकार बिरुद्ध उच्च न्यायलयमा मुद्दा दर्ता गरेकोइ छ। राज्य सरकार बिरुद्ध उच्च न्यायलयमा दर्ता गरेको मुद्दा बारे आज मोर्चाको सहसचिव एंव जीटीए सूचना एंव सांस्कृतिक बिभागका सभासद बिनय तामाङले आधिकारीक्ज पुष्टि गरेका छन।

 मोर्चा सहसचिव बिनय तामङले आज एक पत्रकार सम्मेलन डाकेर राज्य सरकार बिरुद्ध उच्च नायलयमा दर्ता गरिएको मुद्दा बिषयमा बोल्दै जीटीएको सम्झौअता अनुरुप कुनै कार्य नभएको कारण नै राज्य सरकार बिरुद्ध उच्च न्ययालयमा मुद्दा दर्ता गरिएको स्पष्टिकरण दिए। गोजमुमो पार्टीले दर्ता गरेको मुद्दामा मुख्य गरेर तीनवटा बिषय रहेको छ। जीटीएको सम्झौतामा जुन कुरा लेखिएको छ त्यस अनुरुप जीटीएको कानुन नबनिनु, बनिएको जीटीएको कानुन अनुरुप बिभाग हस्तान्तरण नहुनु अनि जीटीएको मुख्य सचिवको नियुक्ति सम्झौतामा लेखिएको अनुसार नरहेको मूल कारण रहेको सहसचिव बिनय तामाङले स्पष्ट पारेका छन। 

जीटीएद्वारा दर्ता गरिएको मुद्दा संख्या डब्ल्यूपी 9202(डब्ल्यू) 2013 मार्च 25 मा दर्ता भएको अनि उक्त मुद्दाको पहिलो सुनवाई 2 अप्रेलमा हुने जानकारी पनि बिनय तामाङले दिएका छन। मोर्चाले राज्य सरकार बिरुद्ध दर्ता गरेको मुद्दा उच्च न्यायलयमा शक्तिनाथ मुखर्जी,सप्ताशु बसु, आइनवा राहाले मुद्दाको वकालती गरिरहेको पनि तिनले थप जानकारी दिएका छन। “राज्य सरकारले जीटीएको सम्झौतामा जे लेखिएको छ त्यसलाई अवहेलना गरेर कानुन बनाउँने कार्य गर्योन। बनिएको कानुनलाई पनि पोरयोगमा ल्याएको छैन। कानुन अनुरुप जीटीएमा बिभागहरु हस्तान्तरण भईसक्नुपर्ने थियो।

 राज्य सरकारले यसलाई पनि अनदेखा गरिरहेको छ। यसैले आखिरमा राज्य सरकारको बिरुद्धमा उच्च न्यायलयमा मुद्दा दर्ता गरिएको हो” बिनय तामाङले भने। तिनले जीटीएको कार्यन्वय सम्झौता अनुरुप नभएको कारण नै सञ्चालनमा धेरै बाधा भईरहेको पनि बताएका छन। तिनले जीटीएको सञ्चालनमा बाधा आईरहेको कारण मोर्चाले केन्द्र अनि राज्य सरकारलाई जीटीए सभामा प्रस्ताव पारित गरेर पठाउँने कार्य गर्दा समेत कुनै परिणाम नआउँदा आखिरामा मुद्दा दर्ता गरेको तिनले अझ जानकारी गराए।

 तिनले जीटीए सञ्चालनमा देखा परेको बाधाहरु बारे राज्यकी मुख्यमन्त्री संग समेत कुराकानी गरेको अनि बिभागझरु हस्तान्तरण 31 दिसम्बर 2012 सम्ममा गरिने बचन दिएको तर उक्त बचन पुरा नगरेको बिनय तामाण्ग़ले आरोप लगाए। सम्पूर्ण क्रियाकलापहरुलाई हेरेर जीटीए सभामा प्रस्ताव पारित गरेर सरकार बिरुद्ध षडयन्त्रको आरोपमा मुद्दा दर्ता गरेको तिनले अझ जनाए। बिनय तामाङले यस अवसरमा पत्रकारहरुसंग बोल्दै राज्य सरकारले जीटीएको सम्झौता अनुरुप अहिलेसम्म सिन्कोना,उच्च शिक्षा,कलेज जस्ता जीटीएमा हस्तानान्तरित विभागहरूको पूर्ण स्वामित्व जीटीएले नपाएको खुलास समेत गरेका छन।

Gurung decides not to dissolve GTA

Mukesh Sharma Kalimpong, March 25: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) chief, Bimal Gurung has declared that the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) will not be dissolved in any cost. Addressing a gathering at Dalapchand, Kalimpong, today, Gurung assured that through GTA developments shall occur in the hills and the Gorkhaland movement will also be carried forward side by side. 

 “I have taken this decision after understanding the state government’s policies of hindering the Gorkhaland formation by making the GTA unsuccessful”, said Gurung who once had thought of resigning from the GTA. “I had earlier decided to dissolve the GTA and resign. But gradually I understood that the state government was trying to create situations in the hills which would lead both the GTA and the Gorkhaland demand towards failure. 

So now, I have decided that GTA will not be dissolved, developments will happen and Gorkhaland will also be attained”, said Gurung. GTA, which was formed finally after a 44 months long agitation of the GJM, still has tenure of 4 years and 4 months. “GTA is still young and needs to be made stronger”, he said. Gurung also alleged the CRPF of working as agents for the state government.

 “We are carrying forward our demand in a democratic way. There is no need for the CRPF to arrive here and scare us for no reason. If they arrest our party workers, then the public should come out in the streets”, he told. Gurung further informed that 120 vacancies for teachers have now been increased to 613. He claimed that the recruitment process is fairly conducted and recommendations and bribes are not at all accepted. However, if any such cases are reported, actions will be taken against the concerned individuals, he cautioned.

Case withdrawal focus in Giri letter

TT;VIVEK CHHETRI  Darjeeling, March 26: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in its letter to the government has requested immediate withdrawal of cases slapped on the supporters during the Gorkhaland agitation. The letter has not mentioned anything on the Morcha’s grouse of state interference in GTA affairs, a matter the hill party seems more inclined to sort out legally. 

 The letter, written by Morcha general secretary Roshan Giri, was sent to state chief secretary Sanjay Mitra today. Giri’s letter was in response to a missive sent by the chief secretary on February 27 and received by the Morcha on March 19. The Morcha’s letter cited Article 29 of the Memorandum of Agreement, which says the state government will review all cases registered against its members involved in the four-year agitation for Gorkhaland.

 “A few months back, in terms of the said MoA, cases registered in the GTA area, Terai and the Dooars region in connection with the GJM agitation, numbering around 650, were referred to the state government for withdrawal as stipulated between the parties to the MoA. However, unfortunately, till date no action in the matter has been taken by the appropriate authorities,” the letter read. 

 Giri also mentioned that state home secretary Basudeb Banerjee had said at a meeting in New Delhi on December 26, 2012, that 150 cases would be withdrawn in 10 days. The Delhi meeting was held to review the functioning of the GTA. Sources said the Morcha was worried that the non-withdrawal of cases by the government was having a negative effect on its supporters.

 “The party is under pressure from its supporters to ensure that the cases are withdrawn immediately so that they do not have to go to court regularly,” said a Morcha source. Giri also wrote: “We strongly request that, in these circumstances the PPs (public prosecutors) and APPs (assistant public prosecutors) may please be directed to different criminal courts about the referred provisions of the tripartite agreements and the aforementioned MoA so that the courts may also take a lenient view before issuing warrants of arrests relating to the GJM agitation cases.”

 In his February letter addressed to Bimal Gurung, Mitra had sought the Morcha’s co-operation in running the GTA. Some hill sources expressed surprise that the Morcha had only talked about withdrawal of cases, not the perceived state meddling in the functioning of the GTA, especially after Bimal Gurung’s announcement in Kalimpong yesterday that he would not resign as the chief executive of the GTA. 

 “Given Gurung’s statement that he would not resign from the GTA before the completion of the five-year tenure, it is surprising that in Giri’s letter, the party had not asked for a meeting with the state government on the functioning of the GTA. It is difficult for the GTA to function without the state government’s co-operation,” said an observer. But another Morcha leader, Binay Tamang, said some of the issues would be dealt with legally. 

 The Morcha assistant general secretary said: “We have filed a case against the government and made the Centre party to it not only in the appointment of the principal secretary of the GTA but also in the anomalies in the MoA, the Act and the subsequent notifications that the state had issued on the transfer of departments. The case has been admitted in the high court and hearing will take place on 

April 2.” Meet at Mirik Sources in the Morcha said the party would organise a meeting at Mirik on April 5, which is the foundation day of the GNLF. According to the sources, the meeting has been planned in Mirik with the belief that the GNLF will also organise its foundation day in the same town. In the past, the Morcha has always foiled the GNLF’s attempt to organise public meetings on the foundation day by announcing its own party programmes. GNLF leaders, however, said this year, the party would organise the foundation day function not in Mirik but at the Simulbarie football ground, situated in the plains.

Flak for Barla

TT; March 26: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha have alleged that John Barla held discussions with Trinamul to forge an alliance in the panchayat elections without the knowledge of the two parties. Although Barla is a member of the JMM, he doesn’t hold any post in the party. “We have respect for John Barla but we take exception to the manner in which he is using the banner of the JMM to hold talks with Trinamul.

 He maintains a close relationship with us and the Morcha but does not hold any official post in the north Bengal committee of the JMM,” Raju Bara, the convener of the north Bengal core committee of the JMM, said yesterday. “Over the past few months, we have noticed that Barla has been holding talks with Trinamul leaders on the alliance without consulting anyone who holds posts in the JMM,” he said. Bara criticised Barla for sending his representatives to Trinamul minister Gautam Deb on Sunday for talks on the alliance without the JMM’s consent. 

 The Morcha also disapproved of Barla’s overtures to Trinamul. “We want to make it clear that if Barla meets Trinamul leaders and state ministers to discuss development issues, we do not have any problem. However, we would object if he holds parleys with Trinamul leaders for stitching an alliance for panchayat polls without consulting us.

 Such acts by Barla have prompted our leaders to give a second thought to the alliance. Barla seems to have forgotten that the alliance between the Morcha and the JMM is still at a premature stage,” said Rohit Thapa, a central committee member of the Morcha in the Dooars.

 Barla sounded confident despite the criticism. “Whatever we are doing is being endorsed and approved by leaders and workers of the JMM. We have held talks with senior Morcha leaders on our prospective alliance with Trinamul in non-tea garden areas. Some people might have grievances which will be addressed soon,” Barla said.

कालेबुङ, 22 मार्च। बिगत वर्ष युनियन टेरीटोरीको मुद्दा अघि लगाएर लोकसभा चुनाव लड्ने दार्जीलिङ जिल्ला हिल कङ्ग्रेसले आगमी 2014 को लोकसभा चुनावलाई मध्यनजर राखेर चुनावी कसरत शुरु गरेको छ। एकातिर दार्जीलिङ पहाडमा सबै राजनैतिक दलहरु गोर्खाल्याण्डको मुद्दा लिएर बिभिन्न कार्यक्रमहरु गरिरहेका छन भने हिल कङ्ग्रेसले भने चुनावी कसरत सुरु गरेको छ। यस वर्ष पनि हिल कंग़्रेसले युनियन टेरीटोरीकै मुद्दालाई लोकसभा चुनावको मूल मूद्दा बनाएको छ।

दार्जीलिङ अनि तराई-डुवर्सलाई मिलाएर केन्द्र शासित प्रदेश गठन गर्नमा केन्द्र सरकारले आपत्ति जनाउन सक्तैन्न भन्ने विश्वास दार्जीलिङ कङ्‌ग्रेसको छ। यसैले अघिल्लो दिनहरूमा केन्द्रका कङ्‌ग्रेस नेतृत्वहरूसित भएको वार्ताहरूबारे पनि कमिटीका सदस्यहरूले चर्चा गरेका छन्‌। अब फेरिपनि कङ्‌ग्रेसका शीर्ष नेतृत्व अनि मन्त्रीहरूसित भेट गर्न चॉंडै दार्जीलिङ कङ्‌ग्रेस कोर कमिटीका 11 जनाको एउटा एउटा टोली दिल्ली जाने भएको छ।

 छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग संवैधानिक माग रहेको दाबी गर्दै ममता ब्यानर्जीले बिच्छिन्नवादी आन्दोलन भनेर संवैधानिक अधिकाराबाट बञ्चित बनाउँने कार्य गरेको हिल कङ्ग्रेसले दाबी गरेको छ। आगमी दिनमा कङ्ग्रेसको सम्मेलन कालेबुङमा आयोजना गरिने अनि उक्त सम्मेलनमा केन्द्रबाट नेताहरु ल्याएर युनियन टेरोटोरीको पक्षमा अवगत गराउँने पनि उक्त बिज्ञप्तिमा जनाईएको छ।

तृणमूल कङ्‌ग्रेसको रोङ्गो युनिट गठन

कालेबुङ, 22 मार्च। पहाडको सत्तासिन पार्टी गोजमुमोलाई अहिलेघरी चारै पक्षबाट घेर्न तृणमूल कङ्ग्रेसले अभियान चलाईरहेको छ। शुरुका दिनहरुमा मोर्चा अनि ममता माझको सुमधुर सम्बन्ध अचानक बिग्रिएपछि ममता ब्यानर्जीले पनि पहाडमा तृणमूल कङ्ग्रेस बिस्तार गरेर मोर्चालाई चुनौति दिन कम्मर कसेर कार्यकर्ताहरुलाई संगटःअन बिस्तारको जिम्मा लगाएको सुत्र मार्फत था लागेको छ। जसको कारण अहिले पहाडमा तृणमूल कङ्ग्रेसको संगठन बिस्तार तिब्ररुपमा अघि बडीरहेको छ।

 यसै संगठनको बिस्तारको क्रममा 45 नम्बर समष्टि अन्तर्गत पर्ने रोङ्गो सिन्कोनामा बगानमा तृणमूल कङ्‌ग्रेसको शाखा कमिटी गठन भएको छ। उक्त जानकारी गोरुबथान खण्ड समितिका सन्योजक पेमा मोक्तानले दिएका हुन। स्थानीय तृणमूल कङ्‌ग्रेस समर्थनहरूलाई लिएर बसेको सभामा तृणमूल कङ्‌ग्रेसको रोङ्गो युनिट गठन गरिएको छ। तृणमूल कङ्‌ग्रेस गोरुबथान खण्ड समितीका संयोजक पेमा मोक्तानको अध्यक्षतामा उनकै नीजि निवासमा बसेको बैठकबीच शाखा कमिटी गठन गरिएको हो।

 नवगठित तृणमूल कङ्‌ग्रेस रोङ्गो शाखा कमिटीका अध्यक्षको रुपमा सुरज सुब्बालाई चयन गरिएको छ भने उपाध्यक्ष विशाल गुरुङ, सचिव सञ्जय राई, सह-सचिव मनोज गुरुङ, कोषाध्यक्षहरू विमल गुरुङ अनि प्रकाश तामाङ्ग लगायत अन्य 15 जनाको कार्यकारी सदस्यहरू उक्त नबगठित कमिटिमा रहेको मोक्तानले अझ जनाएका छन।

छुट्टै राज्य गठनको मागमा मोर्चाको जुलुस जारी

कालेबुङ 22 मार्च। छुट्टै राज्य गठनको माग गर्दै गोजमुमोले आज शहरमा जोडदार नाराबाजी लगाउँदै जुलुस निकाल्यो। पार्टीको पूर्वघोषित कार्यक्रम अनुसार निकालिएको उक्त जुलुसमा पार्टीका बिभिन्न भातृ संगठनहरुको सहभागिता रहेको थियो। गोजमुमो अध्यक्ष बिमल गुरुङले 17 फरवरीको दिन यहाँको मेला ग्राउण्डबाट गोर्खाल्याण्ड आन्दोलनको घोषणा गर्दै 14 अनि 15 मार्च लगायत 21 अनि 22 मार्च सम्पूर्ण गोर्खाल्याण्ड क्षेत्र बन्द हुने घोषणा गरेका थिए। उक्त घोषणा पछि मोर्चा अध्यक्ष बिमल गुरुङ अनि तिनका टोलीले भारतका राष्ट्रपति लगायत गृहमन्त्रीलाई भेट गरेपछि उक्त बन्दको कार्यक्रमलाई फेरबदल गर्दै मौन जुलुस गर्ने घोषणा भएको थियो।

 सोहि अनुरुप आज मोर्चाले शहरमा जुलुस निकालेको थियो। गोजमुमो पार्टीले पहिले जुलुस मौन हुने घोषणा गरेको भए पनि हिज अनि आज निकालिएको दुई दिने जुलुस मौन भएन। यहाँको पार्टी कारयलबाट निकालिएको उक्त जुलुसमा मोर्चा कार्यकर्ताहरुले छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै सीआरपी गो ब्याकको नाराहरु पनि लगाए। पार्टी कार्यलबाट शुरु भएको जुलुसले हिज झै आज पनि यहाँको डम्बर चौक हुँदै दशमाईल फाटक भएर शहर परिक्रमा गरेक्जो थियो। यस अवसरमा पार्टी कर्यकर्ताहरुले गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठनको मागमा लेखिएको बिभिन्न प्ला कार्डहरु बोकेका थिए।

 जुलुसले शहर परिक्रमा गरेपछि यहाँको यहाँको डम्बर चौकमा आईपुगेर पथसभामा परिणत भयो। राज्य सरकारले जीटीएको कार्यक्षमता माथी हस्तक्षेप गरेको आरोप लगाउँदै मोर्चा नेताहरुले पहाडमा गोर्खाल्याण्ड मात्र समस्याको समाधान रहेको दाबी गरे। गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै निकालिएको उक्त जुलुसमा जीटीए उपाध्यक्ष लोबसाङ लामा, सभासद सामुएल गुरुङ, गोपाल रुचाल, सुनिल प्रधान लगायत मोर्चाका अन्य नेताहरुको सहभागिता रहेको थियो। यस अवसरमा मोर्चा कार्यकर्ताहरुले यहाँको डम्बर चौकमा पनि गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठनको मागमा जोडदार नाराबाजी गरे।

 यसको साथै पहाडमा सीआरपी राखेर आतङ फैलाउँन पाउँदैन, सीआरपी गो ब्याक भन्दै मोर्चा समर्थकहरुले नाराबाजी गरे। गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै निकालीएको उक्त जुलुस पथसभामा परिणत भएपछि गोजमुमो सांगठनिक सचिव बिजय सुन्दासले सम्बोधन गर्दै पहाडमा सीआरपी राखेर राज्य सरकारले आताङक फैलाउँने प्रयास गरिरहेको आरोप लगाए। तिनले गोर्खाहरुको एकमात्र माग गोर्खाल्याण्ड यथाशिघ्र गठन गरेर समस्याको समाधान गर्नु पर्ने माग गर्दै ममता ब्यानर्जीले गोर्खाहरुलाई न्याय नदिएको आरोप लगाए।

Mamata suppressing Gorkhaland demand through CRPF, alleges GJM

Mukesh Sharma Kalimpong, March 21: “The state government by deploying the CRPF is trying to suppress our constitutional demand for a separate state”, alleged the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Central Committee Secretary, Samuel Gurung today. While addressing a gathering at Damber Chowk, Kalimpong, after a silent rally by the Morcha, Gurung said that the state government is trying to create insurgency in the hills.

 But the Morcha shall not step back and will stand against all odds, he added. Mentioning about the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) agreement, Gurung said that, it has been clearly mentioned that the agreement shall bring development in the hills and the Gorkhaland demand will not be sidelined in the process. However, he alleged that the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has violated the agreement.

 “Whenever she visits the hills she keeps on repeating that West Bengal will not be bifurcated, when she clearly knows that the people of the hills desperately want a separate state”, he said. On this context Gurung made it clear that the Morcha is not aiming to divide the WB state, but are simply demanding that the hills should be returned to their rightful owners. 

The Morcha Secretary also highlighted the aftermath of CRPF’s deployment in the hills during 1986 agitation. People were slaughtered at large, the forces trespassed into the houses of the agitators and tortured them and women were physically harassed, he said and added that the Trinamool government aims to repeat the same. “The CM should realize that there is a vast difference between the people then and now.

 We are much aware about the intention of the government unlike our predecessors”, he said and cautioned that they will not spare any person who tries to hold back the Gorkhaland demand. Gurung also sought apology from the CM over her comment of Gorkhaland agitation being a ‘separatist’ movement.

 “In no grounds our movement can be labeled as separatist. We are demanding our rights as per the Indian constitution”, he said. Lastly, the Morcha Secretary urged all to stay united and carry forward the demand. During the meeting, the Gorubathan Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, Kumar Chamling (Rai) joined hands with the GJM. Various GTA Sabhasads, Morcha workers, activists and the public were also present at large.

Morcha to conduct Virat Jansabha at Jantar Mantar

Darjeeling, March 21: The General Secretary, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJMM), Delhi Unit, Ranjan Sharma stated in a press conference that preparations are underway to conduct a Virat Jansabha cum protest at Jantar Mantar on March 24th 2013. He further informed that handouts and pamphlets have been prepared for the same and that they are traveling door to door in all the nook and corner of the city to apprise and convince people about their concern for the Gorkhaland cause and its genuineness. 

He appealed to all the Gorkhas, residing in and around Delhi as well as people of proposed GTA areas, to support the native cause and be present in the protest rally in huge numbers. Invitations to local and national media have been extended to cover the movement. Meanwhile, the 53rd day of Jantar Mantar Dharna continued in New Delhi today presided over by the Organizing Secretary, Gorkha Janmukti Vidhyarti Morcha, Diwakar Giri.

 The day was marked by slogans and speeches in favour of Gorkhaland. Vikky Thapa and Suraj Subba delivered speeches focusing on youth education and raising literacy rate of Darjeeling district and adjoining areas. Naari Morcha President, Asha Gurung highlighted the general power of women and the specific role of Naari Morcha for the Gorkhaland demand. General Secretary, Ranjan also informed that they have prepared a brief overview of the recently published “Why Not Gorkhaland” pamphlet, which shall be shared in the public domain through the media.

Series of GJM committees being formed

Kalimpong, March 21: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) chief, Bimal Gurung is busy forming committee under the Morcha in Kalimpong. Gurung reached Sangsher today to form the Rangpo- Sangsey Committee under 39 No. Constituency. The committee was formed during a programme held under the presidentship of Nima G Bhutia at Khadka Gaon, Sangsey. 

The newly formed committee comprises of DB Rai as president, Dhiraj Rai and Praveen Tamang as the secretaries, Binita Rai and Aruna Rai as treasurers and other members.

 The rain refrained the Morcha chief from saying much. The people who gathered from far flung areas to have a glimpse of the Morcha chief were also seen upset due to the heavy rain. However, he assured that he will visit the area next time and meet the public.

Kalimpong, March 21: The Gorkhaland Task Force (GTF) representatives met with the Shiv Sena MP, Anant Gite at his official residence at Bab Khadak Singh Marg. The team elucidated the MP about the century old Gorkhaland demand, its history and its necessity. They also present documents related to the hills and the demand. The team sought for the MP’s and his party’s support for the separate state demand. They further informed Gite that they have been meeting various national leaders seeking support for Gorkhaland. Reciprocating to their talks, Gite assured full support from his side. “I will be more than happy if Gorkhaland is formed”, he said. The GTF team comprised of Sukhman Moktan, R Moktan, Dawa Pakhrin, Govind Chettri and Shekhar Khatri.

Cong-Parishad alliance pot boils - Sources on both sides hint at talks of rural election tie-up

TT'' March 21: Leaders of the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad and the Congress in Jalpaiguri district held talks on forging an alliance to fight the coming panchayat polls in the Dooars and Terai, sources in both the organisations said. The talks have been held in the backdrop of a move by the Trinamul Congress and a breakaway faction of the Parishad led by John Barla to tie up in the plains. 

Trinamul, according to sources, wanted an alliance with the Parishad, but the tribal outfit refused to go with the ruling party because it does not want to have anything to do with Barla. A Congress leader in Jalpaiguri said today: “We have held talks with Parishad leaders on a proposal for striking a deal to field common candidates in the panchayat elections. 

The leaders of the Congress and the Parishad discussed the proposal as they don’t want votes to be divided in the tea belt where both the parties have supporters,” said the leader who didn’t want to be named. Asked about the talks for a poll pact with the Parishad, Jalpaiguri district Congress president Mohan Bose didn’t give a clear answer. 

 “We had taken an initiative (to forge an alliance with the Parishad) ahead of the 2011 Assembly polls. That move didn’t work but there is no harm in trying again. In politics, nothing is impossible and our party is exploring avenues for an alliance to win more seats,” Bose said. “Trinamul had also made an attempt to reach out to the Parishad. 

But the Parishad said there would be no electoral understanding with Trinamul if the ruling party struck a deal with Barla. So, the Congress is free to hold talks with the Parishad on the elections,” said a Congress source. Parishad insiders confirmed that talks had been held with the Congress on stitching an alliance for the panchayat polls. 

 “Although a chunk of tea garden workers has deserted the Citu and the Intuc and joined Parishad trade union PTWU (Progressive Tea Workers’ Union), the CPM and the Congress still wield considerable clout in the Dooars and Terai,” said a Parishad leader. “We have found that tea workers are allergic to Citu as the erstwhile Left Front governments failed to meet their demands. But they don’t have any major grievance against the Intuc. 

So, there is a scope for an alliance with the Congress,” the Parishad leader said. The Parishad’s stated position has been to field Independents in the polls without any seat adjustments with other parties. But one leader of the outfit said there was a rethink in the organisation on contesting the elections alone. “When we contested the Assembly polls in 2011 alone, we couldn’t corner much of the votes.

 Many in the organisation are favouring an alliance with a political party to ensure that we obtain a good number of seats in the panchayat polls.” Rajesh Lakra, the general secretary of the Dooars-Terai regional unit of the outfit, said a Parishad meeting would be convened at Banarhat on March 23 to discuss the polls.

 “We intend to rethink our stand and a new decision might be taken at the meeting,” he said. Lakra said Trinamul was adopting a double standard with regard to its stand on the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. “The chief minister is thundering that there will be no division of Bengal again. 

But Trinamul is trying to forge an alliance with Barla, who supports the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s demand for the inclusion of the Terai and Dooars in the GTA Sabha territory. Such a double standard will work against Trinamul in the panchayat polls.” The Parishad is opposed to Gorkhaland. The Congress, which has been trying to woo Gurung of late, has been cautious not to utter the words “statehood” and “Gorkhaland” in its talks with Bimal Gurung.

गोर्खाल्याण्डको बिरोध गर्नेहरुले संविधानको धारा 3(क) खारेज गरेर देखाऊ – सामुएल गुरुङ

कालेबुङ 21 मार्च। गोजमुमो पार्टीले आज छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै शहरमा जुलुस निकाल्यो। पार्टीको पूर्वघोषित कार्यक्रम अनुसार निकालिएको जुलुसमा पार्टीको भातृ संगठनका सदस्यहरुको उत्साहजनक सहभागिता रहेको थियो। यहाँको मल्लि रोडस्थित पार्टी कार्यलयबाट शुरु भएको उक्त जुलुसले डम्बर चौक हुँदै दशमाईल फाटक भएर शहर परिक्रमा गरेपछि पुन: डम्बर चौकमा आएर पथसभामा परिणत भयो। यस अवसरमा पार्टी कार्यकर्ताहरुले छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै अनि बङगाल सरकारको बिरोधमा जोडदार नारबाजी लगाए। 

यसको साथै मोर्चा समर्थकहरुले “सीआरपी गो ब्याक”, “पहाडमा सीआरपी लगाएर अत्याचार गर्न पाउँदैन” जस्ता नाराहरु पनि लगाए। जुलुसले शहर परिक्रमा गरेपछि डम्बर चौकमा आएर सम्पन्न भएको पथ सभालाई सम्बोधन गर्दै सभासद तथा गोजमुमो सांगठनिक सचिव सामुएल गुरुङले छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड गटःअन गर्नै पर्ने माग गरे। “गोर्खाल्याण्ड गोर्खाहरुको संवैधानिक अधिकार हो। गोर्खाहरुले संवैधानिक अधिकार माग्दा कसरी बिच्छ्निन्नवादी भयो ? बङगाल सरकारले गोर्खाल्याण्डको आन्दोलनलाई दबाउँन बिच्छिन्नवादी आन्दोलन भन्ने गरेको छ। 

यसको हामी बिरोध गर्छौ”- सामुएल गुरुङले भने। यसको साथै तिनले पहाडमा तृणमूल कङ्ग्रेसले सीआरपी ल्याएर आन्दोलनकारीहरुलाई अपराधीलाई झै व्यवहार गर्ने गरिरहेको आरोप लगाउँदै यदि गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठ्न हुँदैन भन्छ भने भारतीय संविधानको धारा 3(क)लाई खारेज गर्नु भनि मुख्यमन्त्री ममता ब्यानर्जीलाई चुनौति नै दिए। पहाडमा अहिलेघरी सीआरपीले जथाभावी छापा मारेर गोर्खाल्याण्ड माग्नेहरुलाई अपराधी झै व्य्वहार गर्न खोजेको आरोप लगाउँदै सीआरपील राजनैतिक उद्श्य प्रेरित भएर कार्य गर्नु ठिक नहुने बताए। भारतीय गोर्खाहरुको एकमात्र गोर्खाल्याण्डको गठनले राजनैतिक समस्या समाधान हुने भएको कारण गोर्खाहरुलाई संवैधानिक अधिकार यथाशिघ्र प्रदान गर्नुपर्ने तिनले माग गरे।

Sundas objects recruitment under Kalimpong Library Training

Kalimpong, March 20: The CPM leader, Tara Sundas has once against voiced against a recruitment process being not transparent. This time Sundas has objected the recruitment of Kalimpong Library Training process. Few days ago, Sundas had met with the Library officer and highlighted about the same. Speaking to the reporters today the CPM leader said that he saw no fairness in the shortlisted 40 names of the selected examinees. He has demanded that along with the name the acquired numbers should also be mentioned. According to Sundas an RTI was also filed by him demanding the same on March 19, 2013, but there has been no reply. He cautioned that if he comes to know that any of the candidates who had passed the exam have not been selected, then he will be approaching the court demanding justice.

गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गोर्खाहरुको आत्मनिर्णयको अधिकार हो – गोर्खालिग

कालेबुङ 15 मार्च। बङगालकी मुख्यमन्त्री ममता ब्यानर्जीले डुवर्स भ्रमणमा आउँदा छुट्टै गोर्खाल्याण्डको आन्दोलनलाई बिच्छिन्नवादी भनि टिप्पणी गरेकोमा अखिल भारतीय गोर्खालिगले कठोर निन्दा गरेको छ। अभागोली महासचिव प्रताप खातीले गोर्खाल्याण्ड आन्दोलन बिच्छिन्नतावादी कसरी भयो भन्ने प्रश्न गर्दै गोर्खाल्याण्ड गोर्खाहरुको आत्मनिर्णयको अधिकार हो भनि दाबी गरे। “भारतमा अहिलेसम्म जति पनि राज्यहरु बने अनि उक्त राज्यहरु निर्माणको निम्ति चलेको आन्दोलन कहिल्यै बिक्छिन्नतावादे आन्दोलन भए।

 किन गोर्खाल्याण्डको आन्दोलनलाई बिच्छिन्नतावादीको संज्ञा दिईन्दैछ ? हामील भारतीय संविधानले दिएको अधिकार मागेका हौ। आज आफ्नो अधिकारको माग गर्दा कसरी बिच्छिन्नतावादी भयो ?” खातीले प्रश्न राखे। तिनले मुख्यमन्त्रीले डुवर्स भ्रमणमा आउँदा आगमी पञ्चायत चुनाउलाई मध्यनजर राकेर यसरी टिप्पाणी गरेको हुन सक्ने बताउँदै उक्त बयान निन्दनिय रहेको दाबी गरे।

ट्राफिक पुलिसको जाँच अभियानमा 45 बाईक पक्राऊ

 कालेबुङ 15 मार्च। ट्राफिक पुलिसले शहरमा ध्वनी प्रदुषण फैलाउँने बाईकहरु बिरुद्ध कडा कानुनी कार्वाही गर्ने पहल शुरु गरेको छ। यसै सिलसिलामा आज कालेबुङ ट्राफिक पुलिस ओसी प्रविण गुरुङको नेतृत्वमा रहेको टोलीले शहरमा ध्वनी प्रदुषण फैलाउँने बाईक अनि ट्राफिक नियमलाई उल्लंघन गर्दै बिना लाईसेंस तथा हेलमेट नलगाई बाईक हाँक्नेहरु बिरुद्ध जाँच अभियान चलायो। यहाँको नोभेल्टि परिसर अनि टुनी बोटे परिसरमा चलाएरको जाँच अभियानमा ट्राफिक पुलिसले मोठ 45 वटा बाईकहरु बिरुद्ध मुद्दा दर्ता गरेको छ।

 शहरमा अहिलेघरी बाईक सवारीहरुले बिभिन्न कम्पनीका बाईकहरुलाई आधुनिकीकरण गरेर ध्वनी प्रदुषण फैलाउँदै शहरमा जथाभावी गुड्ने गरिरएका छन। जसको कारण उच्च ध्वनीको कारण मानिसहरुले ध्वनी प्रदुषणको शिकार भईरहेका छन। यसको साथै शहरको नजीक अस्पताल क्षेत्रमा उच्च ध्वानी भएका बाईकहरुको कारण बिरामीहरुले ध्वनी प्रदुषणको समस्या धेर जसो भोक्न परिरहेको छ। उक्त कुराहरुलाई मध्यनजर राखेर बाईकहरुलाई आधुनिकीकरण गरी उच्च ध्वानी निकाल्ने बाईकहरु बिरुद्ध आखिरमा ट्राफिक पुलिसले कानुनी कार्वाही शरु गरेको छ।

 यसको साथै बाईक कुदाउँदा हेलमेट लगाउँनै पर्ने ट्राफिक नियम भएको भए पनि उक्त नियमलाई कुनै पर्वाह नगरी तथा लाईसेंस समेत नबोकि बाईक हाँक्नेहरु बिरुद्ध पनि ट्राफिक पुलिसले आजदेखि कडा कानुनी कार्वाही शुरु गरेको छ। ट्राफिक पुलिसले आज चलाएको अभियानमा मोठ 45 वटा बाईकहरु बिभिन्न कारणहरुमा पक्रा परेको थियो भने सबैलाई ट्राफिक पुलिसले कानुनी कार्वाही गर्दै मुद्दा दर्ता गरेको छ। अर्कोतिर शहरमा बड्दो ट्राफिक जामको समस्यालाई समाधान गर्न मालवाहक ट्रकहरुलाई बिहान 7 बजेदेखि 9 बजेसम्म अनि बेलुकी 2 बजेदेखि 4 बजेसम्म शहरमा पस्न नपाउँने ट्राफिक ओसी प्रविण गुरुङले बताएका छन।

विद्यार्थीहरुले व्याजमुक्त ऋण पाउँनुपर्छ – तारा सुन्दास

 कालेबुङ, 15 मार्च। मानव संसाधन बिकास बिभागद्वारा तक्निकी उच्च शिक्षा लिन चाहने आर्थिक बिपन्न परिवारका बिद्यार्थीहरुलाई व्याजमुक्त ऋण दिने प्रावधान भए पनि दार्जीलिङ पहाडका बिद्यार्थीहरुले भने उक्त सहुलियत पाउँन नसकेको माकपा नेता तारा सुन्दासले आरोप लगाएका छन। बिभागले बिद्यार्थीहरुको निम्ति साढे चार लाख रुपीया सम्मको ऋण दिने प्रावधान राखे पनि पहाडका व्याङकहरुले भने प्राथमिकता नदिएको आरोप लगाएका छन। यस सन्दर्भमा आज माकपा नेता सुन्दासल्ले महकुमा अधिकारी एल एन शेर्पालाई भेट गरेर एउटा ज्ञापन पत्र चडाए।

 सुन्दासले व्याङ्‌कका अधिकारीहरुसित भेट गरेपछि आर्थिक रुपले सम्पन्न परिवारका विद्यार्थीहरूलाई मात्र ऋण दिनेगरेको कुरा थाहा पाएको आरोप लगाउँदै गरीबका नानीहरुलाई अवहेलना गरिने कार्य भईरहेको आरोप लगाए। उनले सरकारी कागजपत्र देखाउँदै आफ्नो तर्क पेश गरेपछि जिल्लापाल अथवा महकुमा अधिकारीले चासो देखाए यो सम्भव हुने भएकाले नै उनले महकुमा अधिकारीलाई ज्ञापन चडाएको खुलाए। यहॉंका गैरसकारी संस्थाहरूले पनि यस्ता कुराहरूमा चासो देखाउनुपर्ने भन्दै शैक्षिक संस्थानहरूले पनि पहल गर्नुपर्ने आह्वान गरेका छन्‌। उनले महकुमा अधिकारीसमक्ष आर्थिक विपन्न परिवारका विद्यार्थीहरूलाई ऋण दिने व्यवस्था चॉंडै गर्नुपर्ने माग गरेका छन्‌।

गोजमुमो नेताहरु बिरुद्ध न्यायलयले जारी गर्यो् वारण्ट

 कालेबुङ, १४ मार्च| “ताक परे तिवारी न त गोतामे” भने झै सम्बन्ध रामो हुँदा मुद्दा माफी गर्दिनेछु भन्ने सरकारले सम्बन्ध बिग्रेपछि अहिले त्यही मुद्दा झिकेर नेताहरुलाई ठ्याङ्ग्रोमा हाल्ने रणनीति अप्नाएको छ। जीटीएको सम्झौता पत्रमा आन्दोलनकालका मुद्दाहरु सबै माफी गरिनेछ भनेर लेखिएको भए पनि अहिले त्यही आन्दोलनकालको मुद्दाले गोजमुमो कारकर्ताहरुलाई खेदि रहेको छ। मुद्दा माफीको कुरा गर्दै न्यायलय धाउँने नेताहरुको बिरुद्धमा अहिले न्यायलयले मुद्दा माफी होईन उल्टा वारण्ट नै जारी गरेर मोर्चा नेताहरुलाई त्रस्त पारेको छ।

 आन्दोलनकालको बिभिन्न मुद्दाहरुमा आज कालेबुङ न्यायलयले गोजमुमो पार्टीका मोठ १३५ जना कार्यकर्ताहरु बिरुद्ध वारण्ट जारी गरेको छ। बिभिन्न मुद्दाहरुमा आरोपी रहेका मोर्चा कार्यकर्ताहरुले धेरै समय यता मुद्दाको सुनवाई अवधी न्यायलय नधाएको कारण आखिरमा न्यायलयले वारण्ट जारी गरेको छ। न्यायलयमा उपस्थिति नदिएको कारण मोर्चाको कार्यकर्ताहरु संगै सभासदहरुको नाउँ पनि वारण्टमा निस्किएको छ। 

गोजमुमो पार्टीका अग्रिम पंक्तिका नेताहरुमा सभासद डा आरबे भुजेल, सभासद निमा तामङ, फुनुर शेर्पा, रुदेन लेप्चा, तोप्देन भोटिया, पासाङ तामाङ आदिको नाउँमा न्यायलयले वारण्ट जारी गरेको छ। यी विभिन्न मामिलाहरूमध्ये जीआर १२७/०९ मा नै धेरजसो अभियुक्तहरूको नाममा वारन्ट छ| आन्दोनकालमा भएको सरकारी अनि निजी सम्पतीहरूको आगजनी, तोडफोड र नोक्शान पुर्यािएको अभियोगमा मोर्चाका कैयौं कार्यकर्ता र समर्थकहरू विरूद्ध मामिला दर्ता गरिएको थियो|

 सोही मामिला सम्बन्धी कालेबुङ अदालतमा चलिरहेको सुनुवाइको अवधीमा नियमित रुपले उपस्थित नहुने आरोपीहरूविरूद्ध गत सातादेखि वारन्ट जारी गर्ने काम शुरु भएको छ| आन्दोलनकालको बिभिन्न मुद्दाहरुमा आरोपी रहेका नेताहरुको बिरुद्धमा न्यायलयले वारण्ट जारी गर्नुको साथै पुलिसले खोजी अभियान तिब्र पारेको छ। यता आरोपीहरुलाई पक्राऊ गर्न अहिले पुलिस प्रशासन संगै केहिदिन अघि मात्र तैनाथ गरिएको सीआरपीएफ जवानहरुले पनि आरोपीहरु पक्राऊ गर्न पुलिस संगै बिभिन्न स्थानहरुमा छापामारी अभियान तिब्र बनाएको छ।

कालेबुङ नगरपालिका बिकास कार्य गर्न अघि बोरोधको सम्मुखिन

कालेबुङ 14 मार्च। कालेबुङ शहरलाई समस्यामुक्त बनाउँने अनि सुन्दरीकरण बनाउँने परिकल्पना बनाउँदै बसेको कालेबुङ नगरपालिका आफै समस्यै समस्याको भुँवरीमा अल्झेको छ। नगरपालिकाले शरहरमा बिकाश गर्न चाहन्छ अनि बिकाशको योजनाहरु तयार बनिन्छ। शहवासीलाई बिकाशको सहुलियत दिन चाहने कालेबुङ नगरपालिका आफै भने अहिले न त बिकाशको बाटोमा हिड्न सकिरहेको छ न त समस्या मुक्त नै हुन सकिरहेको छ।

 कहिले मैलाको समस्याले वाक्क हुन्छ त कहिले बिकाशको नाउँमा विवादको घोरोमा कसिन पुग्छ यो नगरपालिका। दार्जीलिङ पहाडबाट प्रथचोटि आईएएस जस्तो उच्च परिक्षा पास गरेर प्रशासक बनेका एल बी परियार कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाको नगराध्यक्ष बनेपछि कालेबुङ शहरको समस्या सबै समाधान हुने मानिसहरुले अनुमान लगाएका थिए। यता नगर अध्यक्ष बन्न अघि तिनले पनि कालेबुङ शहरमा मैलाको समस्या आफु नगर अध्यक्ष बने तीन महिना भित्रमा समाधान गर्ने घोषणा नै गरेका थिए।

 तर तिनले गरेको घोषणा तीन महिना बितेर अहिले बर्ष दिन पार गर्दा समेत मैलाको समस्या समाधान हुन सकेको छैन। जसको कारण कहिले हाएवेवासी वाक्क बन्न परिरहेका छन त कहिले शहरवासी वाक्क बनिरहेका छन। यस्तो परिस्थितिमा कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले यसपल्ट शहरमा बिकाश गर्न अर्को परियोजना तयार पारेको छ। कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले यसपल्ट बिकाश गर्न यहाँको हाट बजारलाई लक्ष्य राखेको छ। यसपल्ट कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले यहाँको हाटबजारलाई बृहत रुपमा सपिङ कम्प्लेक्स बनाउँने योजना बनाएको छ।

 नगरपालिकाले हाट बजारमा सपिङ कम्प्लेक्स बनाउँने योजना तयार बनाउँनेसाथ यता हाट बजार ब्यापारी संगठनले भने बिरोध जनाएको छ। कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले बनाएको परियोजनालाई बिरोध गर्नेहरुमा स्बैभन्दा चासोको कुरा भने नागरपालिकाकै पार्षद रहेका छन। यहाँको हाट बजार परिसरमा कालेबुङ नगरपालिकाले सपिङ कम्प्लेक्स बनाउँने कुरालाई लिएर आज हाट बजार व्यापारी संगठनको एउटा आकस्मिक सभा सम्पन्न भयो। उक्त सभामा हाटबजार व्यापारी संगठनका सबै सदस्यहरु उपस्थित रहेका थिए भने उक्त सभामा नगरपालिकालाई सपिङ कम्प्लेक्स निर्माण गर्न नदिने निर्णय लिईएको छ। 

नगरपालिकाको योजनालाई हाटबजार ब्यापारी संगठनको उक्त निर्णयले प्रारम्भिक चरण गहिरो झट्का लागेको छ भने बिरोध गर्नेहरुमा क्षेत्रीय नगरपार्षद रवी प्रधान स्यव अघि आएका छन। यस सम्बन्धमा नगरपालीकाको उक्त परियोजनालाई बिरोध गर्नुको कारण बारे पार्षद रवी प्रधानले हाट बजारमा सपिङ कम्प्लेक्स निर्माण गरे सानो व्यापारीहरु समस्यामा पर्ने बताएका छन।

 “हामी नगरपालीकाको बिकाश बिरोध गर्दैनौ। तर बिकाशको नाउँना व्यापारेहरु समस्यामा पर्नु हुँदैन। यहाँ सानो व्यापारीहरु अहिलेको कम्ति ट्याक्स तिर्न नै हम्मे हम्मे पर्ने अवस्थामा सपिङ कम्प्लेक्स निर्माण गरे पछि ट्याक्स समेत धेर हुने गर्छ। यसर्थ हामी यसको बिरोध गर्छौ” क्षेत्रीय नगरपार्षद प्रधानले भने।

गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै मोर्चाको मौन जुलुस

 कालेबुङ 14 मार्च। कालेबुङको मेला ग्राउण्डबाट गोजमुमो अध्यक्ष बिमल गुरुङले छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठनको निम्ति गत 17 फरवरीको दिन निर्णायक आन्दोलनको घोषणा गर्दै बिभिन्न कार्यक्रमको घोषणा गरे पनि अहिले उक्त कार्यक्रमहरुमा फेरबदल गरिएको छ। मोर्चा अध्यक्ष बिमल गुरुङको नेतृत्वमा दिल्ली हिडेका प्रतिनिधि टोलीले राष्ट्रपतिलाई भेट गरेपछि आन्दोलनको रुपरेखामा मोर्चाले फेरबदल ल्याएको छ।

 यसै क्रममा गोजमुमो पार्टीले निर्णायक आन्दोलनको घोषणा गर्दै आज अनि भोलिको दिन आगावै दुईदिन सम्पूर्ण पहाड बन्दको घोषणा गरेको भए पनि उक्त घोषणा स्थगित राकेर आज मोर्चाले पहाड बन्द गर्नुको साटो मौन जुलुसमा नै चित्त बुझाएको छ। राष्ट्रति अनि गृहमंत्रीले मोर्चालाई आन्दोलन नगर्ने अपिल गरेको कारण राष्ट्रपतिकै अनुरोधमा मोर्चाले निर्णाल्यक भनिएको तेस्रो चरणको आन्दोलनलाई परिवर्तित गर्दै मौन जुलुस गरेर अहिलेघरी चित्त बुझाईरहेको छ।

 यसै सिलसिलामा मोर्चाको आज बन्दको कार्यक्रम नभए पनि मौन जुलुस भने शहरमा सम्पन्न भएको थियो। छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्डको माग गर्दै गोजमुमो पार्टीले आज शहरमा मौन जुलुस निकालेको थियो। यहाँको पार्टी कार्यलयबाट शुरु भएको उक्त मौन जुलुसले डम्बर चौक हुँदै दशमाईल फाटक पुगेर शहर परिक्रमा गरेको थियो। यस अवधी उक्त मौन जुलुसमा मोर्चाको बिभिन्न भातृ संगठनहरुले सहभागिता जनाएको थियो। 

गोजमुमो पार्टीको पूर्वघोषित कार्यक्रम अनुसार आजको मौन जुलुस सम्पन्न भएको थियो भने उक्त मौन जुलुस भोलि पनि निकालिने भएको छ। छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठनको मागमा निकालेको उक्त मौन जुलुसमा गोजमुमो कार्यकर्ताहरुले बिभिन्न प्लाकार्डहरु बोकेका थिए। पार्टी कार्यलयबाट निकालिएको उक्त मौन जुलुसले शहर परिक्रमा गरेपछि यहाँको डम्बर चौकमा आईपुगेर पथसभामा परिणत भएको थियो।

 गोर्खाल्याण्ड राज्य गठनको माग संवैधानिक माग रहेको कारण सरकारले छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठन गरेर भारतभरी छरिएर बसेका गोर्खाहरुको राष्ट्रिय राजनैतिक सुरक्षा प्रदान गर्नुपर्ने पथसभालाई सम्बोधन गर्दै मोर्चा नेतृत्वहरुले माग गरे। गोजमुमो कालेबुङ महकुमा समितिका सचिव कुमार चाम्लिङले पथसभालाई सम्बोधन गर्दै छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड गठन यथाशिघ्र गर्नुपर्ने माग गरे। तिनले अहिले राज्य सारकारले बिभिन्न षडयन्त्र रचेर गोर्खाल्याण्डको आन्दोलनलाई दबाउँन खोजिरहेको पनि आरोप लगाएका छन।

Barla best bet: Morcha

VIVEK CHHETRI Darjeeling, March 14: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has decided to stick to its alliance with John Barla for the panchayat polls in the Dooars and Terai even though the tribal leader has an alliance with Trinamul, sources in the hill party said. However, there were whispers within the organisation against Barla’s announcement of a tie-up with the Trinamul Congress in an “arbitrary way”.

 The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha led by John Barla in north Bengal had said yesterday that his party would enter into an electoral understanding with Trinamul in the Dooars and the Terai to contest the panchayat elections. The alliance was announced after a meeting between Barla and Trinamul all-India general secretary Mukul Roy. 

 The Morcha today held a meeting of GTA Sabha members at Sibchu. Speaking over the phone from Sibchu, Morcha general secretary Roshan Giri said: “The meeting with the GTA Sabha members was an organisational one. The leaders also discussed the upcoming panchayat elections.” Giri refused to divulge the strategy for the elections in the plains, but sources said the party was of the opinion that its best bet at the moment would be to align with Barla.  

In the Dooars, the adivasis are in a majority followed by the Gorkha population. Asked about the Barla-Roy meeting, Giri merely said: “John Barla is still with us.” The sources, however, said at the meeting, many Morcha leaders were of the opinion that Barla should be asked to explain his decision on aligning with Trinamul without taking the Morcha’s consent.

 “Even though there were enough indications that Barla was also looking at aligning with Trinamul, some of the leaders felt that the adivasi leader should have discussed his plans in detail and taken the Morcha into confidence. However, the overwhelming feeling among the Morcha leaders was that the party should continue with the alliance in the plains,” said a source. 

 Morcha president Bimal Gurung, who was present at the meeting, is believed to have sought feedback from the GTA Sabha members regarding the organisational activities in 45 constituencies. “The party has directed its leaders to be on constant guard and not to lose touch with its supporters in the rural areas,” said another source. Since the activities of the GTA Sabha could not be discussed in detail today, the sources said Gurung had directed the GTA Sabha to convene a meeting in Darjeeling at 2pm tomorrow.

 Countering Mamata Banerjee’s statement to the media at Sibchu yesterday, Giri said: “It is wrong to say at the moment that Morcha has aligned with the Congress for a parliamentary seat.” Without naming the Congress and the Morcha, Mamata had said some were tolerating the politics of violence keeping an eye on the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat.

 He alleged that paramilitary personnel had been sent to Darjeeling merely to crush the Gorkhaland movement. “It will be wrong for the chief minister to think that the movement can be crushed by CRPF forces. The more she talks about being rough and tough, the more intense will be the movement,” said Giri.

NIRMAL MANGAR  Gangtok, March 14: Two mountaineering associations in Sikkim have objected to the selection of seven climbers for the first state government-sponsored Mt Everest expedition alleging lack of proper procedure and sought the postponement of the climb.

 The seven have been selected by the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Ecotourism (IHCAE) for the Rs 1.4-crore expedition, scheduled to begin in the first week of April. All seven climbers, among them three women, are instructors with IHCAE, which is a division under the state tourism department and is based at Chemchey in the South district.

 While thanking the government for sending a Sikkim team for the Everest expedition, the mountaineering associations alleged that seasoned mountaineers were kept in dark about the selection process by the IHCAE. “An Everest expedition is like the Olympics for every mountaineer. While we thank the state government for providing an opportunity to the Sikkim climbers, we are sad to see that experienced and qualified mountaineers were kept in dark about the selection process. 

Even the mountaineering associations here came to know about the expedition only after seven members had been selected,” said Deepak Chhetri, the general secretary of the Sikkim Amateur Mountaineering Association. Apart from the Sikkim Amateur Mountaineering Association, the Sikkim Mountaineering Association, Travel Agents’ Association of Sikkim and the Sikkim Association of Adventure Tour Operators also raised questions about the selection process. IHCAE director G.T. Bhutia said it was his discretion to choose the men and women for the Everest climb. “Being the director, powers are bestowed on me to choose the people for the Everest expedition.

 The expedition has been approved after IHCAE placed a proposal before the government. As far as the selection is concerned, the seven mountaineers are from Sikkim who have undertaken many expeditions before. The question of postponement does not arise as bookings for logistic support and other formalities have already been completed.” Chhetri alleged that the IHCAE had not provided an opportunity to all mountaineers in the state for selection for the Everest expedition and accused its director Bhutia of arbitrarily and clandestinely choosing the seven.

 “We fail to understand on what basis these climbers were selected when there are several others with superior experience,” he said. The associations demanded that the state government postpone the expedition till next year. “In between, the government can invite an independent body to conduct a camp to choose the best mountaineers for the Everest expedition next summer,” said Tashi Sherpa, a member of the Sikkim Mountaineering Association. 

 This is the first time that the government is organising an expedition to the Everest. A lot of factors come into play during the expedition the duration for which is generally one month but could stretch to more days, depending on the weather. Kunzang Gyatso, who had conquered Everest in 2008, echoed the view of the associations. “Reaching the summit of Everest is the dream of every climber.

 There should have been a free and fair selection process so that eligible people would not be deprived of the chance,” he said. State tourism secretary K.S. Topgay said he had received a letter from the two mountaineering associations seeking the postponement of the expedition. “The letter has been forwarded for the consideration of higher authorities and the department would follow the directions given by them,” Topgay said.

CRPF’s arrival cause early shut down of markets

Kalimpong/ Darjeeling, March 13: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who have been deployed in the hills have been conducting raids in search of the accused involved in the attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, some days ago. The CRPF are being helped by the Police administration here. After the arrival of the CRPF, the markets are being shut down early than usual. The CRPF can be traced everywhere in Kalimpong town. 

Likewise, the CRPF conducted a Road March at Rangbull, Sonada and other places of Darjeeling town, today. The CRPF, who arrived in Darjeeling on the evening of March 11th, has started its duty from today in Darjeeling and they have been staying at Darjeeling Government High School. After Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) declared its third phase agitation for a separate state of Gorkhaland, the state government, responding to the disturbing environment at Darjeeling hills, appealed to the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Sindhe for the said force to be deployed in the hills to which the Home Minister agreed.

 50 battalion of Bravo company have been deployed in Kalimpong and 66 battalion of Echo company have been sent to Darjeeling. While in the other hand the sit outs by the employees under the direction of the GJM party continued even today. The employees during their lunch hour conducted sit out and shouted slogans. It may be recalled that the GJM had directed the employees who are working under the government departments or the GTA departments to conduct dharna as a part of its called on 3rd phase of Gorkhaland agitation.

Sundas objects mandate requirement for Technical Support hand post

Kalimpong, March 13: The submission of application process as directed by the West Bengal Power Department has been objected by the CPM leader Tara Sundas. While speaking to the reporters today, Sundas informed that the department on 6th March, 2013 has directed all the applicants to issue a draft of Rs 150/- for the applications. However, it has been mentioned that the draft has to particularly from the United Bank. The problem now lies here that there are no branches of the said bank in Kalimpong and Kurseong, he complained. 

“Now the unemployed needs to spend around Rs 1000/- just for the sake of Rs 150/-, and go to other places to make the draft”, he said. He blamed that such low sightedness policy is the main reason for unemployment in the hills. He informed that he approached the department to complain about the same, but he could not contact any officers as they were not in the office.

 Thus, Sundas along with 20 applicants went to the Regional office at Siliguri and met with an official there. However, Sundas has complained that no satisfactory answers were given by the officials there, too. It may be mentioned that pplications for the post of Technical Support Hand post are being invited by the department. There are 102 posts vacant under the same.

‘राज्य सरकारले जीटीएलाई अवहेलना गरेको छ तारा सुन्दास

कालेबुङ 13 मार्च। पश्चिम बङगाल राज्य बिधानसभामा वित्तमन्त्री अमित मित्रले प्रस्तुत गरेको बजेट भाषणमा जीटीएको कुनै उल्लेख नभए पछि माकपाले तिब्र आलोचना गरेको छ। माकपा नेता तारा सुन्दासले आज एक पत्रकार सम्मेलन डाकेर राज्य बजेट सत्रमा वित्त मन्त्रीले जीटीएको कुनै उल्लेख नगरेको सन्दर्भमा आचर्य प्रकट गर्दै राज्य सरकारले जीटीएलाई अवहेलना गरेको आरोप लगाए। ‘राज्य सरकारले जीटीएलाई अवहेलना गरेको छ।

 सरकारले ज़ीटीएलाई अवहेलना गरेको बजेट सत्रले प्रमाणीत गरेको छ। जीटीएलाई स्वीजरल्याण्ड बनाउँछु भन्ने मुख्यमन्त्री ममता ब्यानर्जीले बारम्बार पहाड हाँसेको दाबी गरे पनि बजेट सत्रमा जीटीएको नाउँ उल्लेख नहुनु बिडम्बना नै हो। किन बजेट भाषणमा जीटीएको कुनै उल्लेख भएन ?” माकपा नेता तारा सुन्दासले भने। तिनलए यसै सिलसिलामा मुख्य मंत्री ममता ब्यानर्जीलाई आमा अथवा दिदी भनेर सम्बोधन गर्नेहरुले बजेट सत्रमा जीटीएको कुनै नाउँ उल्लेख नहुँदा समेत मौन बस्नु थप हाँस्यस्पद रहेको बताए।

 तिनले राज्य बिधानसभामा जीटीएलाई अलग्ग राखेर बजेट कसरी प्रस्तुत गरियो भन्ने प्रश्न गर्दै बङगाल सरकारल दार्जीलिङ पहाडलाई लिएर एकपक्षिय नीति अप्नाउँने कार्य गरेको आरोप लगाए। पहाडको बिकाश गरेर स्वीजरल्याण्ड बनाउँछु भनि घोषणा गर्ने ममता ब्यानर्जीको सरकारले बजेट सत्रमा जीटीएलाई अलग्ग राखेर बजेट प्रस्तुत गरेको घटना एकदमै निन्दनीय रहेको बताउँदौ यसबर्षको राज्यको बजेट अधिवेशन पहाडवासीको निम्ति घातक रहेको सुन्दासले दाबी गरे।

उच्चतर माध्यमिक परिक्षा शुरु

कालेबुङ 13 मार्च। पश्चिम बङगाल उच्चतर शिक्षा परिषदको आयोजनामा वर्ष 2013 को भयो। उच्चतर माध्यमिक परिक्षाको पहिलो दिन सबै केन्द्रहरुमा परिक्षा शान्तिपूर्ण सम्पन्न भयो। कालेबुङ महकुमाको खण्ड एक अनि खण्ड दुईका मोठ 1 हजार 9 सय 15 जना नियमित बिद्यार्थीहरुले यसवर्षको उच्चतर माध्यमिक परिक्षा दिईरहेका छन भने 42 कम्पार्टमेंट बिद्यार्थीहरुले उक्त परिक्षा दिईरहेका छन। यसमध्ये नियमित परिक्षा दिनेहरुमा छात्रहर्को संख्या 1 हजार 41 रहेको छ भने छात्राहरुको संख्या 8 सय 74 जना रहेका छन। यता कम्पार्टमेंटन बिद्यार्थीहरुमा छात्रहरुको संख्या 31 रहेको छ भने छात्राहरुको संख्या 11 जना रहेका छन।

यस वर्षको उच्चरत माध्यमिक परिक्षा यहाँको एसयुएमाआई, कुमुदुनी बिद्याश्रम, कन्या उच्चतर माध्यमिक बिद्यालय, प्रणामी बालिका विद्या मन्दिर अनि सन्त फिलोमिना बिद्यालयमा सञ्चालन भईरहेको छ। आज पहिलो दिनको परिक्षा भाषा बिषयमा सम्पन्न भयो। परिक्षालाई मध्यनजर राखेर परिक्षा केन्द्रहरुमा सुरक्षा व्यवस्था कठोर रहेको थियो। कालेबुङ शहरमा सञ्चालन भईरहेको उच्चतर माध्यमिक परिक्षा सम्बन्धि उच्चतर माध्यमिक परिक्षा सञ्चालक केन्द्रका सचिव नभरत्न प्रधानले परिक्षा शान्तिपूर्ण सञ्चालन भईरहेको जानकारी गराएका छन। अहिले कालेबुङ शहरमा सीआरपीएफका जवानहरुले बिभिन्न स्थानहरुमा गस्ति लगाएको कारण विद्यार्थीहरुमा असुरक्षा महसुस भएको कारण अध्ययनमा समस्या भईरहेको बताउँदै सीआरपीएफले जताभावी छापामारी अभियान नचलाई दिने अपिल गरेका छन।
