CRPF’s arrival cause early shut down of markets

Kalimpong/ Darjeeling, March 13: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who have been deployed in the hills have been conducting raids in search of the accused involved in the attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, some days ago. The CRPF are being helped by the Police administration here. After the arrival of the CRPF, the markets are being shut down early than usual. The CRPF can be traced everywhere in Kalimpong town. 

Likewise, the CRPF conducted a Road March at Rangbull, Sonada and other places of Darjeeling town, today. The CRPF, who arrived in Darjeeling on the evening of March 11th, has started its duty from today in Darjeeling and they have been staying at Darjeeling Government High School. After Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) declared its third phase agitation for a separate state of Gorkhaland, the state government, responding to the disturbing environment at Darjeeling hills, appealed to the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Sindhe for the said force to be deployed in the hills to which the Home Minister agreed.

 50 battalion of Bravo company have been deployed in Kalimpong and 66 battalion of Echo company have been sent to Darjeeling. While in the other hand the sit outs by the employees under the direction of the GJM party continued even today. The employees during their lunch hour conducted sit out and shouted slogans. It may be recalled that the GJM had directed the employees who are working under the government departments or the GTA departments to conduct dharna as a part of its called on 3rd phase of Gorkhaland agitation.
