No puja bonanza in the hills as declared by State’s Food Minister- Sundas

{KNE}Kalimpong, October 17: The State’s Food Minister, Jyoti Priya Mallick had announced at Writers’ Building on 9th Oct, 2012 that this time as a puja bonanza, under the PDS, flour will be distributed Rs 5.30p less and in mustard oil Rs 8 less per litre, than the market price. The distribution shall start from 17 and last till 27 Oct, he had declared. However, the CPM leader, Tara Sundas alleged that no such puja offers are being showered in the Darjeeling hills. Regarding the same, Sundas also met with the Food officer, Dhurba Bareily at his office.

After listening to Sundas’s complaint, the Food officer saying that no such written notice has been delivered by the office assured that he will be talking about the matter with the District Food officer. Sundas said that Kalimpong gets its 2 weeks of ration at one shot, but the offer made by the State’s Food Minister has not been availed in the hills. Also the sugar distributed under the PDS during the puja can be availed at Rs 27 by the APL and at Rs 14.50 by the BPL, notified Sundas. Until now no allotment has been made as per the declaration of the Minister, thus the CPM leader urged the public to step forward and speak over the issue.
