Jaswant Singh earns ABGL’s criticisms

{KNE} Kalimpong, October 17: “Through GTA as the medium, Gorkhaland can be achieved”, this statement of MP Jaswant Singh yesterday at Siliguri is being highly criticized by the Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL). Pratap Khati, the General Secretary of ABGL today in reference to Singh’s statement said that the MP is lying. If looked at the history of India, then till date no system or council has ever given birth to a State, he told.

During the NDA regime, States like Chattisgarh, Uttarkhand and Jharkhand was formed, and there was no system. And today, Telengana State is about to be formed, and there too, is no system. Not even in the Constitution of India it is mentioned that a State can be formed through any system or council, added Khati. Knowing all this, still the MP is spreading rumors, he charged.

Further, he accused that the GTA is formed to save Morcha chief and other GJM leaders from being arrested against the charges of Madan Tamang’s murder and added that the Morcha was not at all faithful towards the Gorkhaland issue, instead GJM has been formed to subside the separate State demand.

Likewise, saying that GTA is more diminutive system than the DGHC, Khati mocked that GTA has a Secretariat, but no Directorate, that’s why all the keys to GTA’s offices are at Kolkata. He also cautioned all the political leaders who are really working for the Gorkhaland cause to stay alert against the hill’s parliamentarian. “Singh has betrayed the people of Darjeeling. He who has gained votes in the name of Gorkhaland never visited the hills during the time of landslides, earthquake, water scarcity, etc.” said Khati.
