National seminar on micro finance Initiative INCLUSION AND IMPACT IN INDIA and sustainability of SHG as poverty alleviation conclden 

mukesh sharma  The 2 day National seminar on ‘Micro Finance Initiative, Inclusion and Impact in India and Sustainability of Self Help Group (SHG) as Poverty Alleviation’ successfully concluded today. The seminar was organized by the Department of Commerce and Economics, Kalimpong College with support of CMD and ICFAI University, Sikkim. The topics like the role of the SHGs in the economic development of the hills and how to make the rural area people free from debt through banking were discussed during the seminar. 25 presentations regarding the same were demonstrated by the professors from colleges of Kalimpong, Ghoom, Assam, Dinhatta, Coochbehar and Bardhman. The programme also talked about the banking inconvenience faced by the villagers. There are numerous commercial banks in the cities and towns unlike in the rural areas; hence the villagers by spending their money are forced to visit the cities and towns to avail the banking facilities. Further, the seminar also discussed about the provision of banks in the rural areas. Speaking about the seminar the Principal of Kalimpong College, Dr. RP Dhakal mentioned that the College will be celebrating its 50th Foundation anniversary. Apart from academics the College is also working towards the development of the Sub Divisions and how to connect the hills with the economic principles, he added. The ex students of Kalimpong College today have achieved success and many of them also hold various high posts in every sector in the country, notified the Principle with pride. The DGM of NABARD, Kolkata, RK Tanvi, DRD Darjeeling DTC, Gayatri Thap, MESP, Jharkhand MD Niladri Shekhar Mukherjee, Prof. Deepti Prakash Pal from Kalyani University, DGHC Secretary, Patrick Sada etc. were present during this 2 day seminar.
