After Barfi, its Yaariya in Darjeeling

ALPHA THAPA; Darjeeling January 10: The serene beauty of Darjeeling from time and again has compelled the film-makers to shoot in Darjeeling. After the successful Barfi, the shooting of another bollywood masala film Yaariya is going on at Darjeeling. The shooting has been rolling at the St Joseph’s school since December 28. 

The producer cum the director of the film, Divya Khosla Kumar talking with Sikkim Mail today said that the film is a complete bollywood masala film which has the elements like romance, thrill, drama, adventure etc. The film revolves around the life of the teenage girl and boy. 

Mrs. Kumar said that the music of the film has been given by Pritam Chakraborty. The bad man of bollywood Gulshan Grover this time is in the positive role, a principal of the college. The film also provides new platform for the upcoming faces in the industry. Himansh Koli and Rakulpreet Singh are the lead roles in the movie followed by Miss Earth 2009, Nicole Fariya as the second lead. 200 crew members from Mumbai are playing as the role of the college students and many more locals she added. 

The film is scheduled to release during the months of August/September. “I was searching for the schools and colleges on internet to picturised it as the college in the movie. I found St. Joseph School the most beautiful school. St. Joseph school was my first choice" said Mrs Kumar when asked her choice on the location of the school. 

Adding more she said that the building is more than a century old and is beautiful. Most of the film-makers they prefer foreign, but Darjeeling itself is beautiful place. Apart from St Joseph School, shooting has been going on at the Mahakal Mandir, Hotel Elgin, Glenarys and other places of Darjeeling. ‘The weather, people of Darjeeling is very wonderful. The overall experience is top of the World’ she added. She has also hoped her film to be a hit, as the previous films being shot at Darjeeling has always been super hit.
