Steps taken to cut down accidents along NH31A

{KNE}Kalimpong,  A team of comprising of the different political parties, drivers associations, the representatives of the GREF and that of the NHPC surveyed the NH31A from Teesta to Kali Jhora on Friday. The above decision was taken in a meeting held at the sub divisional office of Wednesday pertaining to the safety of the passengers, commuters plying along the NH31A.

 The president of the driver association Tshering Dorjee Bhutia giving information to SIKKIM MAIL said that a protection wall be constructed along the danger zones where most of the accident takes place. The BRO representatives for the same will be submitting memorandum to their higher officials. The NHPC on the other hand has already taken up the contract of building iron railing which are, 4 kms at 29th Mile and 5kms before coming Gel Khola. The NHPC will also repair the road at Kak Jhora and at 27th Mile, which conditions are appaling. 

The vehicles which brakes down in the middle of the road will be sidelined by the crane informed Bhutia. He also informed that the association has also requested the sub dividional officer for fixing reflector lights at the accident-prone zones. The representatives during the survey have also submitted their own suggestions to the sub divisional officer informed Bhutia.
