Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today announced Rs 500 crore package for Assam which has been battling the worst floods in recent times that has left 77 people dead and nearly five lakh homeless. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh to the next of the kin of each of the 77 dead. I appreciate the PM's concern and declaration of package, hopefully it reaches the right person in due time not to warm up the wallets of corrupt politicians and mid-handlers. We AAGSU will ensure that 25 dead Gorkha brothers and all others get the compensation in due time with out harrasement and the Rs.500 crore is used for flood rehabilitation.
