Kalimpong 7 July 2012 : Kaleybung Sahitya Utthan Samity celebrated 161 birthday of Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan, the first Gorkha Journalist of India at Disha in Kalimpong .
During the programme Tarun Rai "Tathura" & Jilas Gahatraj videographer of Hill Channel were felicitated for their contribution in the field of journalism.
Rai was a correspondent of the then Nepali dailies Sunchari and Sunakhari and several other dailies. He is the editor of a regular registered monthly news based magazine.
KSUS also felicitated Nar bahadur Dahal eminent Nepali writer, Solon Karthak writer and researcher on the works of Padri Pradhan, Navaratna Pradhan Principal of SUMI and Tara Lohar for their contribution in different fields and receiving different awards.
They were presented with a shawl and a citation by the Chief Guest Sanumati Rai and Pancha Ratna Pradhan, Guest of honour.
On the occasion Prof. Sajay Bistha presented his talk .
