As per the information received on 20th July 2012, Additional SP Kalimpong, Ms. Songmit Lepcha received a call from an informer about 2 girls of Dooars being trafficked to Delhi by Mahananda Express. It was told that the informer got the number from the awareness camp posters of MARG, an anti human trafficking NGO of Darjeeling. She at once contacted MARG. MARG contacted the informer and spoke to him at length regarding suspected trafficking case from Makra Para (Birpara) on 20th July 2012.
MARG only had information of what dress two of them were wearing and how many of them were travelling. Without wasting any time MARG sent a mail to AHTU nodal officers of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, UP and Delhi as the train the traffickers were travelling would pass through these area.
Finally its mail reached Police commissioner New Delhi and Delhi Police and an local NGO Shakti Vahaini were intimated and they were ready for action. They called MARG to reconfirm the information which was shared to them through mail. MARG informed them that the information was 90% genuine.

The children were accompanied by four persons namely 1) Mainy Chhetri W/O Maila R/O Vill. Malangi, Birpara, Dist. Jalpaiguri 2) Stayam S/O Sukhbir R/O Vill. Makra para, PS. Birpara, Dist Jalpaiguri 3) Laxmi W/O Maila R/O Vill. Makra Para, Birpara, Dist. Jalpaiguri and 4) Kiran Chhetry S/O Gauri Chhetri Vill. Uttar Khairbari PS. Madarihat Dist. Jalpaiguri. The children were brought to Delhi by Mahananda Express on July 21, 2012. All these four persons were arrested by the police.
Acting on the tip off given by MARG Darjeeling, Shakti Vahini informed the SHO, GRP, Old Delhi railway Station and with the assistance of the police the girls were rescued. In the application to the SHO, GRP, Old Delhi Railway Station, Shakti Vahini stated that “Since the legal guardian of the children were not with them the above mentioned people lured them to come to Delhi we suspect that it is a case of child trafficking and request you to take legal action against the traffickers. The separation of children from their parents is a clear violation of cruelty and violation of child rights we also request you to include relevant sections of the (Juvenile Justice care and Protection of Children) Act and the relevant sections of IPC”

An FIR was lodged u/s 23/26 of JJ Act, 16 Bonded Labour Act and 374 IPC. The FIR no. 97 dated 22/7/2012.
After medical examination all the children were given shelter in the Children Home.
Trafficking of women and children has been engulfing our society rapidly and it is high time we all come together to fight this menance or else a day will come when our own daughters and sisters will fall into this trap. Mankind in Action for Rural Growth along with Darjeeling Police has begun a campaign on Anti Human Trafficking and has already organised awareness programmes in Kalimpong, Kurseong, Mirik, Mongsoong, and Magarate's Hope. It has plans to reach out to other vulnerable areas too.

प्राप्त जानकारी अनुसार 4 व्यक्तिले 2 नाबालिग बालिकाहरुलाई महानन्दा एक्सप्रेस रेलमा दिल्ली लैजादै गरेको खबर कालेबुंगका ए एसपी सोंगमित लेप्चालाई गत 20 जुलाइको दिन कुनै एक अग्यात व्यक्तिबाट प्राप्त भयो । ती व्यक्तिले मार्गको मानव तश्करी रोकथामबारे एक पोस्टर मार्फत पाएको फोन नम्बरमा सम्पर्क गरेका थिए। तिनले उक्त खबर मार्गका निर्णय जोहन छेत्रीलाई दिईन। मार्गले तत्कालै बिहार, झारखण्ड र् उत्त्तर प्रदेश मा सम्बन्धित फोर्सहरुलाई यसबारे जनाए । सबै ठाउ सतर्कता लिईएपछि दिल्लीमा पनि यो जानकारी दिइयो ।
दिल्लीको मानव तस्करी निरोधक संस्था शक्ति बाहिनीले पनि आफ्नो स्वयसेवकहरुलाई 6- वटा टोली बनाएर ओल्ड दिल्ली रेल्वे स्टेसनमा जाच गर्दा 11 नम्बर प्ल्याट फार्मबाट जानकारी दिईएको लुगा लगाएकी प्रिती र नैनालाई 4जना तश्करहरुसंग फेला पारे। पुर्ण सोधपुछ् पश्चात बिरपाडा थाना अंतर्गत मालंगीका मैनी छेत्री, माक्रापाडाका सत्यम र लक्ष्मि अनि मदारीहाट थाना अंतर्गत उत्तर खैरबाडिका किरण छेत्रीलाई दिल्ली पुलिसको सहयोगमा रेल्वे स्टेशनमानै पक्राउ गरियो। उनिहरुलाई उद्दार गरेपछि अभिभावकको अनुपस्थितीमा दिल्लीको एउटा होम मा आश्रय दिईएको छ।
