CAB commences the 1st of its kind Cricket Camp and selection process

 MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, May 21: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) through United Veterans Club of Kalimpong in order to take the cricket talents of the hills in the National and International level today commenced a selection process at Mela Ground for the budding cricketers less than 16 years of age group. The 15 day Cricket Camp was also inaugurated today. 

As a part of the inaugural function, the Kalimpong Sub Divisional Officer, LN Sherpa did the batting while the Principal of St Augustine, Father Lawrence Monterio did the bowling and the Police In charge became the wicket keeper. The Chief Coach of CAB, Kanchan Maiti and Assistant Coach, Upendra Rai were also present during the inaugural function. Representative of Piranhas Club, Samsher Ali was also present. It may be noted that the Piranha Club is the one of few Clubs of Kalimpong that has been able to make a different name in cricket in Kalimpong. Kalimpong Sub Divisional Officer said that in the recent 20- 20 Cricket mostly the players coming from small towns are performing well. This type of selection process is 1st of its kind in Kalimpong and should be carried forward in the future too, he added. The selection process will start from tomorrow at the St Augustine playfield and also the 15 day camp will be conducted at the same venue. 30 boys will be selected during the process.
