Awareness programme on Fire Safety and Prevention held

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, May 11: The Kalimpong Sub Divisional Office today organized an awareness programme on Fire Safety and its Prevention at the town’s Ramkrishna Rangmanch. Several of Kalimpong, business institutions, dispensaries, hospitals and shopkeepers were educated about various fire fighting equipments during the programme. The Sub Divisional Officer, LN Sherpa advising the gathering to stay alert in order to prevent fire mishaps directed them to keep fire fighting equipments containing Carbon Dioxide. Similarly, the Officer from the Fire Department, S Subba acquainting the technical details of the equipments said that once the extinguisher gets over, 

it should not be refilled for it poses a threat. Water buckets should be filled and kept and there should be provision of emergency exits, he underlined. Block Development Officers of Kalimpong Block I and II, A Bhowmick and Anandita Sarkar respectively, Darjeeling District Fire Prevention and Safety Officer D Lepcha and Kalimpong Thana In Charge Prasad Pradhan were also present during the programme.
