New Delhi, 02-July-2013. Smt. Krishna Tirath, Union Minister for Women and Child Development has reviewed the impact of the recent floods in Uttarakhand on the children. The recent floods in the State have left many children homeless and orphaned. With the aim to assess the scale of this loss to enable the Ministry to extend all help to rehabilitate these children through different schemes of the Ministry of WCD, it was decided that Ms.
Kushal Singh, chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and Dr. Vivek Joshi, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development will visit the affected areas in Uttarakhand tomorrow to assess impact of the natural calamity on the children of the State. Several NGOs and Civil Society Organisations such as Childline, Mountain Children Foundation and Dehradun Childline are already working for the homeless and orphaned children in the affected areas. This visit will also help to coordinate the efforts of these organizations. (PIB)
