MUKESH SHARMA Kalimpong, November 04: Recently, 28 Gorkhaland Personnels (GLPs) have been recruited under the Information and Cultural Department of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) under Group-D. Speaking about the same, the GTA Deputy Chief, Col. Ramesh Aaley said that the GTA Executive Chief, Bimal Gurung is working towards employing the GLPs permanently.

 The GLPs are being recruited for the vacant posts on the basis of their qualification and ability, he informed. “We need to provide employment to the 2000 GLPs who are stationed at11 different camps”, said Aaley and added that the selfless service of the GLPs during the time of agitation cannot be forgotten. 

The Deputy Chief who is also the head of the Sports Department, said that the GTA will be concentrating on the development of sports in the hills. All help shall be provided by the GTA, he assured and added that they are planning to form a Sports Council under GTA soon. Through this the interested youths will get a proper platform to showcase their talents in national level. Mentioning Bhaichung Bhutia’s desire to establish a Sports Academy in Kalimpong, Aaley said that soon they will be working on it.
