“Hills are in a desperate need of educational reform”, Dr. GS Yonzone

“Hills are in a desperate need of educational reform”, Dr. GS Yonzone

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, May 02: Stressing about the importance of education, the East District BJP President and also an experienced litterateur Dr. GS Yonzone today said that for a State and a nation to develop education is a necessity. All the talks delivered by the Government about developing the State and the country cannot be fulfilled if there is no proper education. But it is upsetting to see that since independence no Government has ever focused on educational development in the hills till date, he asserted.

The hills are in a desperate need for an Educational Planning, Management and Development which includes all the litterateurs and educationists. “An establishment of a central university in the hills is a must”, the litterateur underlined. Only 7% of the population of the country is lucky enough in gaining higher education. Though there are 400- 450 universities in the country still the National Knowledge Commission under the Presidentship of Shyam Petrota has appealed the Central Government to establish at least 1000 universities in India. In order for the education system to flourish, it is must for a separate State to be formed. For a society to function smoothly there should be coordination among the public including both the higher and lower level people, but this is not in the case of the hills, said Yonzone.

Lastly, he complained that the Government has betrayed the BJP by not granting them the MP ticket. Those who are not at all aware of the people of the hills and their needs, they are being provided with the tickets, he whined. “90% of the hill populations are not at all satisfied with the works of the Parliament”, concluded the President.
