Rights Forum meets Municipality President, discusses about the relocation of
the 35 families of Ma Santoshi Tol
mukesh Sharma KALIMPONG, May 03: To get more information and to deliver their point of views regarding the relocation of the 35 families of Ma Santoshi Tol, the President of Kalimpong Citizen Rights Forum, NP Dixit today met with the Municipality President, LB Pariyar. It may be noted that the above mentioned families are being shifted to an area located nearby the Novelty Cinema by the Municipality as a multi complex is being constructed at the place where they were residing before i.e. at the Novelty Cinema Line.
The Forum has demanded
that the Municipality should first present the upcoming multi complex’s
blueprint to the families in order for misunderstanding not to occur. Now since
the Municipality has decided to shift the families, hence they should sit and
properly discuss about how to relocate them.
To this Pariyar said
that the Municipality has neither planned to leave the families homeless nor
the Board is trying to snatch away their any source of income. If these 35
households are ready to join hands with the Municipality then the Board is ever
ready to make an agreement with them, he concluded.
