Roshni qualified in Comrades Marathon

KalimNews: Roshni Rai the sole Gorkha runner to represent India in the Comrades Marathon 2012 could finish her race successfully in 11 hr 50 min 26 sec. She was qualified for running the 89 km run within the time frame. Roshni's  position was 804, gender position 2174 and overall was 11211. She succeeded to get the medal for successful completion. Her speed rate was about 7.86 kmph.

There were 19545 participants in the run, of which 15197 were men and 4348 women runners. India was represented by 26 male and 5 female participants in the run of which Roshni Rai was one of them.

जॉन बारला के बयान से गोजमुमो में नाराजगी

 राजेश शर्मा, कालिमन्युज, जयगांव ३ जून /जीटए के पक्ष में जनमत तैयार करने के लिए गठित ज्वाइंट एक्शन को-आर्डिनेशन कमेटी के चेयरमैन जॉन बारला के हाल के बयान से गोजमुमो में नाराजगी है। स्मरणीय है कि कुछ दिनों पूर्व जॉन बारला ने अपनी पुरानी नीति को बदलते हुए बयान दिया कि वे बाजार इलाकों को छोड़कर डुवार्स-तराइ क्षेत्र के मौजा को जीटीए में शामिल करने के पक्षधर हैं। प्रेस को दिए विज्ञप्ति के जरिए उन्होंने कहा था कि बाजार इलाकों में जीटीए के खिलाफ आंदोलन हो रहा है। इसलिए इन इलाकों को हम लोग छोड़ रहे हैं। डुवार्स गोजमुमो के प्रमुख नेता मधुकर थापा ने कहा कि जॉन बारला ने जो बयान दिया है वह उनके व्यक्तिगत विचार हैं। हम लोग अपने पुराने स्टैंड पर कायम हैं। हमने हाई पावर कमेटी को क्षेत्र के 398 मौजा को जीटीए में शामिल किए जाने को लेकर अर्जी दी है। मोर्चा ने कभी नहीं कहा है कि हम लोग बाजार इलाकों को छोड़ देंगे। यहां तक कि उन्हें जॉन बारला के कथित बयान पर भी शंका है। वह ऐसा बयान दे ही नहीं सकते। मोर्चा वीरपाड़ा, कालचीनी, बानरहाट जैसे इलाकों को किसी भी सूरत में नहीं छोड़ सकता। यदि जॉन बारला ने इस तरह का बयान दिया है तो इस पर हमें आपत्ति है। ज्वाइंट कमेटी का मतलब यह नहीं है कि हम लोग अपनी नीतियों की तिलांजलि दे दी है। हम लोग अपने पुराने स्टैंड पर आज भी कायम हैं। कालचीनी के मोर्चा नेता विशाल लामा ने कहा कि फिलहाल इस मसले पर कोई मंतव्य करना उचित नहीं होगा। हाई पावर कमेटी इसी महीने अपनी रिपोर्ट जमा देने वाली है। इसलिए हम लोग किसी तरह का आंदोलन भी नहीं कर रहे हैं। हमें इंतजार है हाई पावर कमेटी के प्रकाशित होने का। उसके बाद ही कोई मंतव्य किया जाएगा। इस संबंध में जॉन बारला ने कोई मंतव्य करने से मना कर दिया।

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, June 03: Himalayan People’s Channel, a local news channel started by the Himalayan Swarojgar & Berojgar Forum today celebrated its 2nd Foundation Anniversary. Kalimpong MLA, Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. During his brief address, MLA Dr Chettri advising the journalists to work sincerely said that if a journalist is motivated and sincere towards his work then lakhs of people will stand for his/ her support if he / she are being threatened. “Sincerity without courage leads a journalist towards wrong destination”, he stated. News does not happen all of a sudden, instead they are made, he asserted. Saying that journalism is a noble profession the MLA added that journalists are the entities who clean the society of all negative elements. 

During the programme, journalist Pradeep Lohagun kept forward his views on the problems faced in visual/ electronic media whereas journalist cum poet Manoj Bogati spoke on the print media. They whined that neither the people are concerned about how the regional newspapers and channels are run nor the Administration asks about it. In one hand, the Administration lets the media houses publish the Government advertisements, whereas in the other if any mistakes occur in the publishing, then the media houses are questioned whether they bear license and proper registration. Likewise they underlined that there are 2 main reasons which leads others to interfere in the field of journalism, firstly the journalists not doing their work with full dedication and secondly, the journalists not being given proper status/ identity by their media houses along with low payment for their hard work. Even the national level journalists can be seen being much bias nowadays, they said. Also during the programme few of the youth journalists namely, DK Waiba, Jilbut Ghataraj, Prajjwal Chettri and Amir Basnett were honoured. The children from the Natya Nrityam Sansthan also presented colourful dance performances.

Roshni, the Gorkha girl at Comrades in South Africa

KalimNews, 3 June 2012, 1.30 pm: Roshni Rai the marathon queen of the hills also known as Pedong Express is one of the marathon runner in the Comrades Marathon that started today at about 9 am IST. Roshni had run about 36 km at 1.30 pm crossing Camperdown near the half way run. A record of 19,000 runners including about 50 runners of India have been running the 12 hr race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. The Comrades, is arguably the greatest ultra marathon in the world where athletes come from all over the world to combine muscle and sinew and mental strength to conquer the approximately 90km between the cities of Pietermaritzburg and Durban, in South Africa. Roshni Rai in her thirties is a national marathon runner and also had run in the hills with other national runners inspired by her. She is a legal executive working in Colgate Palmolive in Mumbai and hails from Pedong of Kalimpong in the district of Darjeeling.

 She planned to highlight the “identity crisis” of her community by using the Comrades Marathon as a platform. “I’m running to highlight the identity crisis of Gorkhas in India,” Rai said to livemint.com. “The Comrades has an inspiring history. When I run there, it will be a tribute to all the Gorkhas who have died for India”, she added. The event owes its beginnings to the vision of one man, World War I veteran Vic Clapham. The first Comrades Marathon took place on May 24, 1921, Empire Day starting outside the City Hall in Pietermaritzburg with 34 runners.The race is a cherished national treasure and attracts scores of runners, spectators and television viewers each year.

 For both the up and the down run it is important to note the dramatic physical variations in the Drummond to Durban stretch. In the down run this is the second half of the race. The first half can be deceptive and many runners will wonder if this is indeed a down run. The Pietermaritzburg to Drummond section does not have nearly the physical variation as the second half. Both Pietermaritzburg and Drummond lie roughly at the same height above sea level and the highest point of the course, Umlaas Road, is a mere 170 m above Pietermaritzburg. Four time Comrades gold medalist and two time winner Leonid Shvetsov are sunning in the colours of Nedbank Running Club. Shvetsov, with four gold and one silver medal to his name, running his sixth Comrades Marathon. He currently holds the Comrades record after breaking it in 2007 in a time of 5:20:48. Shvetsov is also the up run record holder in a time of 05:24:49, achieved in 2008.

GTA demarcation shelters GJM’s vested needs, alleges Taramani Rai

 MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, June 02: TARAMANI RAI Demarcation under the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) being an imperative issue has now become the most discussed topic in the hills. Either the political figures or the general public, every individual can barely rest talking about it whether in positive or in negative aspects. Commenting on this regard, the Central Communist Part of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) Vice President, Taramani Rai alleged that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has done the demarcation looking at the political gains rather than Administrative convenience. If the Morcha was giving priority to the Administration then it would have first consulted and taken the view points of all the other parties in the hills and would make a draft listing the complaints and suggestions given to it. Instead, the Morcha hurriedly released the notice of demarcation of 45 Constituencies without consulting anybody, complained Rai. He also charged that the Constituencies have been demarcated after taking into account the personal needs of the politicians under each Constituency. 

Giving the example of the rift among the Highway Block Committee and the recent suspension order of the Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha (GJYM) Executive member, Bishal Rai by the GJM, Rai blamed that the Morcha is finding ways to oppress those who are voicing against the demarcation. Likewise, the Central CPRM Vice President adding that people are protesting against the demarcation mentioned, that remonstrance is at its peak at Gorubathan. Rai, recommended the Morcha to see above political gains and instead respect the wishes of the people. “The Morcha Chief, who once used to repeatedly state that GTA elections shall not be conducted without Terai- Dooars inclusion is now saying that the elections shall happen only in the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) area”, asserted Rai. Further, he notified that GTA laws have been made under which it is clearly mentioned that there is administrative arrangement for the allocated 45 seats. Since the seats have been allocated in the hills, now does the High Power Committee report hold any meaning? And from where will the seats be increased or added if the report is for the Terai Dooars inclusion? Questioned the anxious politician. Tagging the High Power Committee’s report as ‘Match Fixing’, Rai again alleged that the Morcha’s statement about the High Power Committee’s report to be the ultimate decision and both the Morcha and the State needs to abide by it, proves that the decision has already been fixed.Stating that the Gurung’s GTA is no less that Ghising’s DGHC, Rai asserted that it’s high time that the public needs to voice against it. Lastly, informing that the Morcha Chief is expending huge amount of money at Cedars for its development, he said that CPRM had complained about this activity to the District Magistrate (DM). But now the GJM President is threatening the CPRM Party workers, he added. “Neither is he the MLA nor the Councilor of that area still he has been distributing money and tin sheets to the public there”, concluded Rai.

मोर्चालाई बारलाको अनुरोध- ‘86 मा झैं यसपल्ट पनि तराई डुवर्सलाई धोका नदिनुहोस्‌’

 rongotimes.comआखिरमा गोर्खा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा आफ्नो असली औकातमा आएको छ। किन भने मोर्चा प्रवक्ता डा. हर्कबहादुर छेत्रीले स्पष्ट भाषामा भनेका छन्‌ कि जीटीएको चुनाउ दागोपापमा नै हुनेछ अनि सिमाङ्‌कनको निम्ति हाइपावर कमिटीले जुनै रिपोर्ट दिए पनि मोर्चालाई कुनै असुविधा छैन। छेत्रीले भनेका थिए, मोर्चाले जीटीएमा सम्झौता गरिसकेको छ यसकारण चुनाउ गर्नु मोर्चाको बाध्यता हो। तिनको संकेत मोर्चा दागोपापमा नै सन्तुष्ट हुनुपर्ने सम्झौतातिरको थियो। किन भने मोर्चाले दागोपापमा नै जीटीए चलाउने सम्झौता गरिसकेको छ। सम्झौता दागोपापमा नै भएकोले तराई र डुवर्सको भू-भाग जीटीएमा पस्ने कुरा सान्दर्भिक छैन। मुख्य मन्त्री ममता व्यानर्जीले 24 मईको दिन मोर्चा अध्यक्ष विमल गुरूङलाई त्यही सम्झौता पढ्‌ने सुझाव दिएकी थिइन्‌, जहॉं चुनाउ दागोपापमा हुने उल्लेख छ।

सम्झौता भइसकेकोले तराई डुवर्स जीटीएमा पस्नुपर्छ भन्ने विमल गुरूङको ढिप्पी सम्झौताको विरोधको कार्य हो। यसकारण तिनलाई डुवर्स छोड्‌ने र डुवर्समा शान्ति राख्ने सल्लाह पनि दिएकी थिइन्‌। ममता व्यानर्जीको सल्लाहलाई अक्षरस पालन गर्दै विमल गुरूङले तराई-डुवर्सको आन्दोलन फिर्ता लिँदै पहाड चढेका थिए। विमल गुरूङ अहिले सरकारी विकास योजनाहरू पार्टीको नामबाट बॉंड्‌न गाउँ पसेका छन्‌। तिनको यस्तो रवैयामाथि पनि विपक्षद्वारा प्रश्न गर्दै विमल गुरूङलाई सरकारी विकास परियोजना बॉंड्‌ने अधिकार कसले दियो भन्ने प्रश्न सरकारसित गर्न थालिएको छ भने यस सम्बन्धमा विपक्षका पार्टीलेहरूले सरकारलाई ज्ञापन पनि चढाउने अनि कानूनीरुपको जॉंचको माग पनि गर्ने भएको छ। यता मोर्चा प्रवक्ता डा.हर्कबहादुर छेत्रीले तराई र डुवर्सबाट मोर्चाले हात धोएको स्पष्ट पारिदिएपछि डुवर्समा तथाकथित आविपका नेता जोन बारला बिचल्नीमा परेका छन्‌।

30 अक्टोबर 2011मा जोन बारलासित मोर्चा अध्यक्ष विमल गुरूङले एउटा सम्झौता गरेका छन्‌। सम्झौता अनुसार जीटीएमा तराई र डुवर्स पूर्णरुपले अन्तरभुक्ति गर्ने अनि जीटीएको नाम परिवर्तन गरेर जीएटीए बनाउने उल्लेख गरिएको छ। जीएटीएलाई तराईमा जोन बारलाले चलाउने अनि पहाडमा मोर्चाले चलाउने पनि सम्झौतामा उल्लेख छ। यही सम्झौतालाई ध्यानमा राखेर जोन बारलाले आविपलाई त्यागेर आफ्नै राजनैतिक शक्तिको निर्माण कार्य थालेका थिए। जोन बारलाले के भनेका थिए भने जीटीए गठन भएपछि जीएटीए बनाइनेछ किन भने सम्झौतामा जीटीए लेखिएको छ तर तिनलाई सम्झौतामा दागोपापलाई मात्र लिएर जीटीए बनिने पनि लेखिएको छ भन्ने कुरा गर्दा यसबारे मोर्चा र आविप(डुवर्स)ले सरकारलाई मनाउने बताएका थिए।

तर सरकारले दागोपापमा नै जीटीए चुक्ति गरेकोले विमल-जोनको कुरालाई ध्यानमा दिएन। जीटीएमा मोर्चा महासचिव रोशन गिरीले हस्ताक्षर गरेको भए पनि जोन बारलासित विमल गुरूङले सम्झौता गरेका थिए। तर रोशन गिरीद्वारा हस्ताक्षरित सम्झौताले नै विमल गुरूङको जोनसितको सम्झौतालाई अर्थहीन बनाए पनि विमल गुरूङले तराई र डुवर्सको अन्तरभुक्तिको माग छोडेका थिएनन्‌ तर 24 मईको दिन विमल-ममताको वैठकपछि विमल गुरूङले पनि तराई डुवर्सको मुद्दाबाट हात धोए। विमल गुरूङले डुवर्स छोडेपछि विमल-जोनको सम्पर्कमा पालतोपन देखापरिरहेको थियो। यस्तोमा नै विधायक डा. हर्कबहादुर छेत्रीले जीटीए पहाडमा नै गठन गरिने अनि हाइपावरको रिपोर्टले कुनै असर नगर्ने भएपछि जोन बारलाले मोर्चालाई अनुरोध गर्न बाहेक अन्य विकल्प नै रहेन।

तिनले भने,डा. हर्कबहादुर छेत्रीले जुनप्रकारले टिप्पणी दिएका छन्‌, यसले हामी मर्माहात छौं। मोर्चाको केन्द्रिय कमिटीले तराई र डुवर्सको हितमा निर्णय लिए मात्र तराई डुवर्सका जनताको विश्वास जित्न सकिन्छ। यसप्रकारको टिप्पणी गर्नु हाम्रो सम्झौताको निम्ति हानिकारक छ। 1986 मा पनि पहाडले डुवर्सलाई धोका दिएको थियो। यसपल्ट पनि पहाडले धोका नदेओस्‌। मोर्चाका नेताहरूलाई अनुरोध छ, डुवर्सलाई धोका नदिनुहोस्‌। तिनले जबसम्म तराई डुवर्स जीटीएमा पस्दैन तबसम्म सरकारमा चाप दिने आन्दोलन गर्ने बताए पनि तिनको राजनैतिक अस्तित्व नै धरासयी बन्न थालेको छ। तिनले भने, डुवर्सका गोर्खाहरू मात्र होइन आदिवासी पनि जीटीएमा साामेल हुन चहान्छन्‌।

यसकारण जीटीएमा गोर्खाहरूको मात्र होइन आदिवासीलाई पनि सम्बोधन गरिनुपर्छ। किन भने जीटीएको निम्ति हामीले एकसाथ लडेका हौं। यता हाइपावर कमिटीका सदस्य एलबी परियारले जनाए अनुसार मोर्चाले हाइपावर कमिटीले डुवर्सको गोर्खा बाहुल क्षेत्र जीटीएमा पस्नुपर्ने विषयमा मात्र चाप दिएको छ। आदिवासीको सन्दर्भमा तिनले बताए अनुसार जहॉं गोर्खा अल्पसंख्यक हुन्छन्‌, त्यहॉं आदिवासीको समर्थन लिएर क्षेत्र अन्तरभुक्ति गरिने मोर्चाको सोंच हो। तिनको कुराले आदिवासीहरूलाई मोर्चाले आफ्नो स्वार्थको निम्ति मात्र प्रयोग गरिरहेको छ। सो कारण नै मोर्चाले तराई डुवर्सको अन्तरभुक्तिको सन्दर्भमा गोर्खा बाहुल क्षेत्रको उठान गरिरहेको छ, जसले स्पष्ट पार्छ आदिवासीहरूलाई मोर्चाले केवल प्रयोग मात्र गरेको हो।

समष्टि बिभाजनमा गोजमुमो पार्टीको स्वार्थ रहेको क्रामाकपाको दाबी

डी के वाइबा: कालेबुङ, 2 जून: जीटीए समष्टि बिभाजनको क्रममा गोजमुमो पार्टी भित्रै रहेको विवाद विस्फोट बनेपछि अन्तत: केन्द्रिय नेताहरुको हस्तक्षेपमा उक्त विवाद साम्य बनेको छ। मोर्चाले पार्टी भित्रको विवाद साम्य बनाउँन सके पनि समष्टि बिभाजनको कुरालाई लिएर क्रामाकपाले प्रिक्रिया गर्दै उक्त कार्यमा पार्टीको राजनैतिक स्वर्थ लुकेको दाबी गरेको छ। जीटीएको समष्टि बिभाजन कार्यमा प्रशासन सित मिलेर राजनैति स्वर्थ पूर्तिको निम्ति गोजमुमो पर्टीले जनआकाक्षा बिरुद्ध काम गरेको क्रामाकपाले आरोप लगाएको छ। क्रामाकपा महासचिव तारामाणि राईले आज पत्रकारहरु सित कुराकानी गर्दै समष्टि बिभाजनको बिरोधमा बिभिन्न स्थानहरुबाट गोजमुमो कार्यकर्ताहरुले बिरोध गरेको कार्यले नै पार्टीले जन भावना बिरुद्ध काम गरेको पुष्टि भएको दाबी गर्दै यस कार्यमा प्रशासन सित नेताहरुको मिलीभगत रहेको दाबी गरे।

 समष्टि बिभाजनमा मोर्चा नेताहरु ईमान्दार नरहेको दाबी गर्दै यदि ईमान्दार हुँदो हो भने तिनीहरुले सबै राजनैतिक पार्टीहरुसित बैठक गरेर समष्टि बिभाजन अघि कुराकानी गर्ने थिए भनि बताए बतउँदै नेताहरुको स्वर्थ लुकेको कारण कसैसित बैठक नगरि अधिसुचना जारि गरेको तिनले दाबी गरे। “जीटीएमा ४५ वटा समष्टि बिभाजन गर्दा प्रशासनिक सुबिधा भन्दा मोर्चा नेतागरुको स्वर्थ धेर लुकेको छ”- तारामणि राईले भने। तिनले अलग हाइवे समष्टिको मागलाई केन्द्र गर्दै जीटीए सिमाङ्‌कनमा जुन जुन नेतृत्वहरुको स्वार्थ पुर्ती हुने देखे तिनीहरु खुशी छन् भन्ने दाबी गर्दै नयाँ समष्टिमा स्वर्थ पुरा नहुनेहरु र असुविधा हुनेहरुले बिरोध गरेको तिनले थप जानकारी गराए। गोजमुमो पार्टीले समष्टि बिभाजनमा असुबिधा भएका जनताको जनभावना बुझ्नको साटो तिनीहरुले कार्यकर्ताहरुलाई पार्टीबाटै निस्कासन गरेको दाबी गर्दै पार्टीको स्वार्थमा हाईवेलाई टुक्रा टुक्रा बनाएको पनि तारामाणि राईले दाबी गरेका छन। यसै सिलसिलामा तिनले पत्रकारहरुसित कुराकानी गर्दै गोजमुमो पार्टीले बिगत दिनमा तराई डुवर्सको भू भाग एक ईञ्च छोड्दिन भने पनि अहिले आएर दागोपाप क्षेत्रमा चुनाव गराउँने कुराले तिनीहरुको वास्तविक चरित्र जनता सामु उदाङ्गो भएको दाबी गर्दै यस कुराले मोर्चाले तराई डुवर्स छोडेको कुरा प्रमाणित बनेको तिनले थप बताए। तिनले जीटीए कानून अनुसार जीटीएको चुनाउ तराईको 18 वटा मौजा मिलाएर 45 वटा समष्टिमा हुने निश्चित रहेको बताउँदै यता गोजमुमो पार्टीले पनि ४५ वटा समष्टिमा नै चुनाउ गराउने भएकोले हाइपावर कमिटीलाई पनि राजनैतिक स्वार्थपूर्तिको खेल हुन सक्ने तिनले आशंका व्यक्त गरेका छन।

हाई पावर कमिटिको रिपोर्ट सार्बजनिक हुन अघि नै जीटीएको चुनाव ४५ वटा समष्टिम हुने कुराले तराई तराई-डुवर्सलाई यसपल्ट पनि ठूलो धोका हुनगएको बताएको छ करामाकपा महासचिव तारामाणि राईले दाबी गरे। यसै सिलसिलामा यदि मोर्चाले दावी गरेको तराई-डुवर्सका मौजाहरू जीटीएमा गोजमुमोकै भनाइअनुसार अन्तर्भुक्त भए जीटीए कानून विरूद्ध 45 वटा समष्टि बढेर ६० -७० हुनु सम्भव छ ? भनि तिनले प्रशन तेर्साए। तिनले मोर्चाले दाबी गरेको कुराहरु असम्भव रहेको बाताउँदै जीटीएमा दागोपापको भन्दा धेर मौजाहरु भए पनि छैटौं अनुसुचिमा रहेको मौजाहरु भन्दा जीटीएमा दुईवटा मौजाहरु कम्ति रहेको तिनले यसै अवधी पत्रकारहरुलाई जानकारी गराएका छन्।तिनले हाइपावर कमिटी केही समयसम्म तराई-डुवर्सका मानिसहरूलाई थमथमाउन मात्र गठन गरेको दाबी गर्दै यदि गोजमुको इमान्दार हुँदो हो त तराई-डुवर्सको छिनाफाना नभइ चुनाउ गर्ने थिएन अनि तराई-डुवर्सको अन्तर्भुक्ति र जीटीए चुनाउ समान्तर रूपमा हुन्छ भन्ने दोधारे कुरामा हस्ताक्षर गर्नेथिएन भनि राईले थप दाबी गरेका छन्।

डी के वाइबा, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ 1 जून : राज्य सरकारले ग्रामिण ईलाकाका मानिसहरुलाई माछा पालनको निम्ति प्रोत्साहन दिन अनेकौ योजनाहरु पारित गरिरहेको भएता पनि उक्त सरकारी योजनाहरुबाट दार्जीलिङ पहाडका मानिसहरु बञ्चित बन्न परिरहेको मानिसहरुले गुनासो पोखेका छन। हाल दार्जीलिङ पहाडमा फिसेरी बिभागबाट ग्रामिण ईलाकाका मानिसहरुले राज्य सरकारबाट पारित योजनाहरु अनुरुप कुनै पनि सहुलियतहरु पाउँन नसकेको गुनासो गर्दै एकहुल मानिसहरु पत्रकारहरु भएकोमा आएर गुनासो पोखे। तिनीहरुले बिगत पाँच वर्षदेखि राज्य सरकारबाट पारित सहुलियतहरु दार्जीलिङ जिल्ला फिसेरी अधिकारीले अनुमोदन नगरेको आरोप लगाउँदै सरकारले जनतालाई दिएको योजनाहरु बिभागले बितरण नगरिरहेको आरोप लगाएका छन।

स्थानीय कालेबुङ बोङ बस्तिका एकजना माछा पालन गर्दै आईरहेका बिशाल राईले सरकारले प्रदान गरेको सहुलियतहरु दार्जीलिङ जिल्ला फिसेरी अधिकारीले अनुमोदन नगरेको कारण आफुहरुले पाउँन नसकेको बताउँदै जनताको निम्ति आएको सहुलियत बिभागले बितरण गर्नुपर्ने माग गरे। तिनले राज्यको वार्षिक योजना अनुरुप माछा पालनको निम्ति पहाड अनि समतलमा सरकारले बिभिन्न योजनाहरु बनाएर साधारण ग्रमिण ईलाकाका मानिसहरुलाई स्वनिर्भर बन्नको निम्ति सहुलियतहरु दिने गरेको बताउँदै उक्त सहुलियहरुबाट दार्जीलिङ पहाड्वासी भने लगभग पाँच वर्ष देखि बञ्चित बन्न परिरहेको बताए। सरकारले दिएको सहुलियत समतलका मानिसहरुले राम्रो संग उपभोग गर्न पाईरहेको तर् पहाडवासीहरुलाई भने बिभागले सहुलियत प्रदान नगरेको कारण स्वनिर्भर बन्ंको निम्ति केहि कार्य गर्न नसकेको तिनले जानकरी गराए।

यसै सिलसिलामा राज्य सरकारले माछा पालनको निम्ति राज्यको वार्षिक योजना अनुरुप फिङगरलिंगस् डिस्ट्रिब्युसन बिगत पाँच वर्षदेखि पाउँन नसकेको अर्का माछा पालक् हरिभक्त शर्माले बताए। तिनले सरकारबाट प्राप्त हुने सहुलियत दार्जीलिङ पहाडका माछा पालकहरुले पाउँन नसक्नु खुबै दुर्भाग्यजनक रहेको बताउँदै उक्त सहुलियतहरु पाउँन नसकेको कारण पोख्रेबुङ, मिरिक, पुदुङ, दलगाउँ, अलगडा, लाभा लगायत अन्य स्थानहरुका माछा पालकहरु यस सौविधाबाट बञ्चित बनेको दाबी गर्दै यस बिषयमा बिभागले यथाशिघ्र ध्यान दिनुपर्ने माग गरे। आफुहरुले सरकारी सहुलियतको निम्ति स्थानिय कार्यालयमा अनेकौ चोटि धाउँदा पनि उक्त सहुलियतहरु दार्जीलिङ जिल्ला अधिकारीले नै नदिएको कुरा थाहा लागेको बताउँदै जनताको निम्ति आएको सरकारी धनराशी जनताकै निम्ति प्रयोग हुनपर्ने तिनले माग गरे।

Finally Branches along NH 31A whole heartedly accept the GTA demarcation

MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, June 01: There is air of much satisfaction and happiness among the locals of Lohapool- Suntaley area and Birik Forest Busty for their area being included under the Labda- Mungpoo Constituency during the recent demarcation of the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA). Now all the Branches along the National Highway (NH) 31A who were demanding of a separate Constituency is ready to again follow the Morcha’s lead whole heartedly. Before the area being divided and included under different Constituencies created a tensed situation for it was difficult for the public to come together due to Administrative, Panchayati and Geographical reasons. Since, after the whole area is included under Labda- Mungpoo, the people feel that it is a great achievement. All the Branches of the said area have also thanked the Morcha for bringing them under one Constituency under GTA. A gathering welcoming the inclusion decision was also held during which the Lohapool Branch President, Dal Bahadur Gurung, Secretary Kalyan Dewan, Yuva Morcha Presient, Mohan Pakhrin and Naari Morcha President, Bimla Tamang were p[resent along with other members. During the meet, Secretary Dewan along with the Teesta Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Branch working member Secretary and Naari Morcha President welcoming and thanking the decision added that they will be fully supporting all the activities of the Morcha in the coming days. They shall also not tolerate the adverse activities of the oppositions against the GJM, they underlined.

Conman absconds from 5 days Police remand

 MUKESH SHARMA KALIMPONG, June 01: ACCUSED SONAM DORJEE BHUTIA One Sonam Dorjee Bhutia aged 36, resident of Pedong Topakhani was arrested on Tuesday for duping people off their money. Bhutia used to demand money from the general public by introducing himself either as an IB Official or as a Custom Officer. He was arrested by the Police in the evening hours of Tuesday after a complaint was filed against him by a lady, who was being forced by Bhutia to hand over her Alto car. Accused Bhutia was then summoned to the Kalimpong Court the next day after which he was sent under 5 days Police remand. But Bhutia managed to escape from the remand yesterday late night at around 1:40 am. 2 of the on duty Home Guards and 1 Constable started untying him when he seeked permission to use the wash room. Taking advantage of the situation and the midnight darkness, Bhutia then pushing the on duty personnel escaped successfully. Informing about the above incident, the Darjeeling District Superintendent of Police (SP), Kunal Agarwal said that the Department will also take actions on the Constable under the Line OR for being irresponsible. Likewise, the Sub Divisional ASP, Songmit Lepcha notified that a separate case has already been registered against the now absconding accused Bhutia for breaking away from the Police custody. The ASP lastly appealed the public to immediately inform the Police if any of them come to know his whereabouts.
