‘Gorkhaland ought to be formed if Telegana gets statehood’ -Dr Chettri

KNE;Kalimpong, January 19 ‘If Telengana is granted statehood, Gorkhaland should also be given’ said the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha spokesperson also the Kalimpong MLA Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri talking to the reporters at Kalimpong today. But at the same time the attitude of the centre government on Telengana formation at present seems cloudy said Dr Chettri. The Gorkhaland demand on the other hand lies under the periphery of the Indian constitution and not outside he added. 

The State Reorganization Commission has to be impartial in delivering their duties. Talking about the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Dr Chettri said that it is a provisional system and the GJM accepted it so in future it may be easier for the attainment of statehood. The GJM are of the opinion that the GTA can help in strengthening the agitation for Gorkhaland in the Hills he said. But even the GTA has been puppet in the hands of the central government as many powers of the GTA departments still rest under the hands of the centre. ‘Gorkhaland ought to be formed if Telegana gets statehood’ stated Dr Chettri.
